Good Morning!!
We are beginning to plan our 5th Anniversary trip (09) and are trying to choose 2 or 3 resorts to stay at. We know we want to stay at the AKL, went there on our honeymoon and just loved the atmosphere:love: We have stayed at the BW, liked the hotle, loved the area, but did not care for the lack of a quick serve food area. What does everyone feel about the Yacht or Beach Club?

Thanks for the help!!

Heidi

We love the Yacht club. We never stayed at the beach club so I can't comment on that.
We first picked the YC since it looked a little more like our style and was the closest to the boat dock (to go to MGM and epcot IF WE DIDN'T WANT TO WALK)
We thought the service was excellent , atmosphere was great, room was clean and a good size, we got a free upgrade which we loved and it was close to everything.

You will love which ever one you decide on!!!!!

I thought they were about the same size and provided the same level service (with the exception of Art the greeter at BC). Do you like the more masculine look of YC or the more airy decor of BC?

BC does have the quick snack the Beach Club Marketplace http://allearsnet.com/acc/faq_bc2.htm

At BC (not sure about YC) there are some rooms with full balconies that look over a flat rooftop with white gravel. It is not really a view of anything other than the rooftop - when the sun reflects off the gravel it is awful.

We requested a room change, but the only std room available was one with one of the mini balconies. While we missed having a balcony,we could have one chair out and the room was at the end of the resort, so down some stairs, out the door and we had a beautiful short walk to International Gateway :) We were near the volleyball court, which was pretty and quiet. It was lovely.

So many of us enjoy nice view - it is part of our vacation - many of the newer deluxe resorts have some rooms with terrible "views". It is the reason we do not stay std at BC/YC or WL or AKL.

Do not mind a view of gardens or even parking lots (some of those views are actually nice) but a loading dock or rooftop - no thanks!;)

We prefer the Yacht club. But Beach has the quick service area. I think it depends on your style or taste... Yacht is darker woods and colors and Beach is lighter woods and colors. Not sure if this helps!!! :) :) :)

I like both resorts. Beach Club seems more laid back while Yacht Club seemed
a little more quieter.

For those who have been to the YC...what kind of restaurant is the YC Galley?? Is it quick serve or sit down??

Heidi

It is a sit down. It is very good . We were surprised actually.

There is no quick service food area at YC. However, everything at Beach club is just a few seconds walk. Could be a shorter walk than going to the quick service food area at AKL depending on where your room is at AKL. (we also LOVE it there)

The Beach Club is my favorite although I would be happy staying at either resort. One big benefit is both resorts share Stormalong Bay (the best pool complex on property, IMHO.)

BC for us. Like the more subdued color scheme there. Also, it's slightly closer to Epcot.

BC is a bit busier in the lobby because of Cape May and BCV is there also. If it were just me and DH, I would pick YC as it seems a little more quiet and off the beaten path! Have a great trip!:)

Hi, Heidi- Since you love the AKL, I would choose the YC over the BC. The atmosphere at YC has always struck me as a little quieter and more adult than the BC. BC tends to attract alot more families. If you stay at the YC, you will have a pleasant walk to the market at the BC. They have alot of take out items there along w/ the refillable mugs. When we were there, it was very busy every day. You also have Beaches 'n Cream for sit-down casual. They don't accept reservations, so it pays to hit it on off times because it can get very busy. By the time you are planning your trip, the DVC at AKL should be open. Not sure how that will affect the atmosphere at AKL. It will definitely be a little busier, but it is such a stunning resort that I wouldn't let that change my mind about staying there. The DVC at AKL is going to be housed in a completely separate building w/ a new, more kid friendly pool area. I would suspect that the main building and pool area at AKL will become even quieter and tend to attract more adults once the DVC is open. Have fun planning! Ed
