@Snowysmom, I like hearing about your walks, you live in an area with lovely nature parks!

I think the cold front is expected here on Thursday.

I love riding bikes in my area this time of the year. So fewer cars than just a month ago.

Good Morning!

@Judique glad you went over to see your friend. I'm sure she was very happy to see you and you probably got a little closure.
@easyas123 glad you enjoyed your Scotland trip. Welcome back!

I got Mia's room all painted, pictures hung, and her new curtains put up at my house for her. I facetimed her Sunday morning to show her, she was very excited. Looks so nice coming from a boyish black/royal blue to a pretty girlish pink. Of course I added Minnie Mouse touches.

Today would have been my mom & dad's birthdays, my dad would have been 100. It really hit me yesterday and I had a rough day, everything was going wrong at work for me, and of course I drowned my sorrows in food. Hoping today will be a little better but I don't think it will. I don't go to the cemetery, haven't been since my dad died 15 years ago. I drive past it all the time so I'll try to remember to drive past tonight on the way home from work.

Have a good day!

Good morning. I hear the weather at home is calling for rain and dropping temps. It figures, I will get home and temps will be in the 60's. I'd rather stay here, but I only have 3 more days to enjoy the islands. If money weren't an issue, I'd move here in a heartbeat. The O'hana spirit is a real thing, everyone is so friendly.

@footballmouse Just some :grouphug:'s for you

Have a good day everyone

I understand the feeling, @footballmouse. It happened to me last month - in FL. It was my mother’s 100th bday the day after my bday. I’d planned to go to mass (as she would’ve loved that I did that) but pure exhaustion hit me that day. Everyone went to parks and I decided to rest. Well I fell asleep pretty good and never made it over to the mass but we did go over later in the afternoon and said some prayers. It’s hard to believe 100 yrs. We’d celebrated Dad’s memory of his 100th in 2019. I go by the cemetery when I’m down that way (on Cape Cod). I was last there in July. Hugs.

@easyas123 Thanks for the well wishes. I’m glad you had a nice trip to Scotland! There’s a new Outlander spinoff called Blood of my Blood, it’s a lot like the first season of Outlander, set in Scotland, and very good, we’re hooked. DH has Scottish blood and a family clan. I buy him things with the clan logo, like a tam he wears in the winter, lol (bought in the UK Pavilion at WS). We have to get over there one of these days! Enjoyed hearing about your trip. And hope you feel better.

Lynn, I trust you’re having a wonderful time! Mona, I hope things are much improved for you with your walking. Snowysmom, thinking of you this week. Your walks do sound lovely. PollyannaMom, sounds like you have a lot of fun with your lodge, I think that’s great! Are you still substitute teaching these days? Bobbi, you have so much fun in your travels, so nice to see. I hope your appointments all either went well or go well.

Judique you get a lot of enjoyment out of planning your trips. I think planning is really part of the fun. I hope you like the Hoop De Doo. We were at the Fort last month (we did a cabin tour) eating at the quick service place (meatloaf was pretty good) when the first group was going in for HDD. We’ve never gone either, but someday we might. It’s a little sad how much the Fort has changed with the new monstrosity going in next door. We liked the cabin (and enjoyed a great stay there a few years ago) but coming from a 1BR at OKW it seemed a little small, lol. Our big thing would be taking the dogs, but we wouldn’t want to drive down there. (Can’t picture the big one on a plane.) So we’ll see. We’ve gone back and forth w DVC forever. Honestly we held off over the years because I was always afraid my cancer would come back and I would be out of work and didn’t want to worry about that type of bill if that happened. (And my instincts were apparently right.) But now we’re in a different stage, though still not sure it’s the best thing for us. We always manage to find a very good deal and enjoy staying at different places, without the headaches I think I’d have trying to manage bookings that way and fees, etc. I think it’s great for the people who have and love it.

Another place we almost did a time share over the years is at a place in NH where my cousin has had his since 1980. Great place with many great stays for us. A few years back we looked into purchasing a week in a beautiful, dedicated 3BR unit right on a golf course. It was going super cheap. But when I did the math on the maintenance fees, just for ten years, and added in costs of kenneling the dogs for that same amount of time just for that week (would amount to ten days in the kennel, really, and is crazy expensive), it came out to $60K. For us that seemed silly when we can rent for the week if we want to at a reasonable cost without being saddled with fees and other related headaches. If we could take the dogs we may have felt differently. It’s funny cause the guy I was speaking with was selling it primarily because of his dog, too. My cousin isn’t a dog person so didn’t really understand why that would be an issue for us, but it is. We’d love to take them with us hiking and what not, as we did on our honeymoon up there with our German Shepherd at the time. At least at the Fort they are welcome, and there’s a dog park there, etc. For us it’s just now a matter of getting there. (And of course now the feel of the Fort in the “wilderness” has changed, which is also something to think about.) If we had just one small dog it wouldn’t be an issue as we could take the dog on the plane. (The fees are very high for the cabins, too. Plus it’s $30/day I think per dog. And of course we’d have to have a golf cart at ~ $67/day so it all adds up.)

Well been busy running around with appointments and trying to get things done. A zillion appts scheduled this month, some days with two or three in different places. I am finally at the point where I can get this one infusion that I have to take to counteract another medication they put me on this summer. I had to get my blood drawn, which I did (and it was the worst phlebotomy experience ever), so I was able to schedule it for Thursday while I’m already going to be in Boston for physical therapy on my surgical arm, so that will save me a trip. Yesterday they sent me the information on the infusion and I nearly died when I saw all the probable and potential side effects. It could be a very long weekend if I get sick from it. Sounds like flu like symptoms are expected, but more serious things can happen. Praying they don’t. I’ve also started reading about another medication I have to start in December. I waited to read about it cause my brain could only take one thing at a time. But apparently this can cause chemo like effects such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea (very common, ugh, I had enough of that during chemo itself), affect blood counts, and cause an inflammation of the lungs. 😢 I haven’t even started radiation yet (next week) but spent a couple of days being kinda bummed about these. (We’re very fortunate to have these treatments today, and I’m very grateful for that, but the treatments themselves can be hard.) Taking one day at a time and hoping and praying for the best. I have another healing mass this week, I know they are helping me. A friend who recently started chemo is coming with me and we’ll get dinner somewhere, as well.

Enjoy this Tuesday, everyone. 🐥 (Lynn just saw your post so glad you’re loving it! Maybe you should think about living there! Would your friend go for it?)
