XXI Olympic Winter Olympics Games Thread

Everyone's always said Satan should, by rights, play for the Devils. Just like Martin St. Louis should play for the Blues. :teeth:

Love the salute they gave. I much prefer to see it when the Sharks do it after winning at home, but it's OK.

That was an exciting finish can't wait until Sunday now.

Oh wow, so you were with the refs when he was reviewing the videos? You must be since you know where all the emphasis and focus was. Cool, what was your job there?

Valid complaints are brought to the attention of the judges. Whinges happen on message boards and interviews.

Your complaints lose all legitimacy when you use unsubstantiated views as facts.

Aren't you a pleasant little thing? Once again, opinions are like......Well, I'm certain you know the rest of that one. I have mine and clearly, you have one. :rolleyes1

BTW, the O in "IMHO" indicates I was voicing my OPINION. I never stated it was a fact. For that matter, the ref's call is subjective. By its nature, it is an opinion. An educated opinion, I'll grant you. But even educated opinions are occasionally subject to bias. It happens. That is why it would have been preferable to have had the decision made by someone whose country was not represented in the final. It avoids the appearance of impropriety.

I might get crap from the other Canadians but I'm glad we're up against the Americans, even if we don't win they are the least objectionable to walk away with the gold :lmao: I'm just glad there is zero chance of it being Russia.

wide open net miss...

Thanks Slovakia for exposing a weakness in the Canadian hockey team.

Hope that the USA wears the retro jerseys.

Amen to that. I did a full-blown happy dance when it was official they would be getting no medal.

I personaly think Ohno is being a bad loser saying it was a Canadian Judge and the fact it was held in Canada. Considering he won a Gold in 2002 when a South Korean skater was disqualified he now know how it feels to be on the other side and I don't feel sorry for him.

Ohno has had the benefit of wipeouts and disqualifications moving him up the medal stand several times in the past. I don't argue that. Eventually, your luck runs out and you end up on the losing end and I'd say his luck ran out tonight. I don't even argue that he should not have been disqualified in tonight's race. All I am saying is that IMHO, (please note the "O" ;)) the Canadian eventual gold medal winner was every bit as guilty of causing the Korean he was overtaking to wipeout as Ohno was of causing the other Canadian to fall. Yet only one of them was DQd. :confused3 It could certainly be argued that the Canadian's (Hamelin?) actions cost the Korean the gold medal. I'd just have liked some consistency.

Although....what would have happened if Ohno and Hamelin had BOTH been DQd? That would have left only two in the final, with three medals to hand out. Would the bronze have gone to the winner of the B Final? Hmmmmm........ Now, that would have been interesting.

If you watch a replay you will see that Luongo actually made an amazing save on that shot. :thumbsup2

We want the USA! We want the USA! We want the USA!

Yep, the bronze would have gone to the winner of the B Final. At least that's what I thought I heard. The announcers said it is rare but it does occasionally happen that there are not enough finishers in the A Final so some of the medals would go to racers in the B Final.
