Has anyone stayed here? Impressions? How far is it from Disney? Thanks!!!!

My dh and I own here and we love it. There is nothing like having a spacious two bedroom suite. It is very close to WDW right off of 192. I think it takes us 5 to 10 minutes tops depending on the traffic.

Also very conveniently located next to one of my dh's favorite golf courses: Mystic Dunes and Falcon Fire is right down 192.

Also very close is

- Goodings market
- Cracker Barrell (dh loves the chicken and dumplings reminds him of Louisiana. I love the strawberry shortcake he loves the hot fudge sundae in a mug.)
- TGIFriday's
- SuperWalmart quite a ways down 192 (Across from Medievel Times) but still worth it. 10 to 15 minutes or so.

You have picked a great location. Enjoy your time there.
Feel free to PM me this is our fourth stay at our home resort Wyndham Palms. Will be trying to trade for Atlantis Bahamas next year. Wish me luck.

It is now called Windsor Palms.

I toured it back in April and was VERY impressed. The little extras they offer like the convenience store and the cinema make it different than most of the other resorts in town. It also has a shuttle service which is quite rare for a resort of it's calibre also!

It's brand new and beautiful and in a great location, also!

I have always stayed on-site for our Disney visits, and particularly like not having to drive everywhere. How do the shuttles work? I assume getting to the parks is not a real problem, but how often do they pick up from the parks? How much of a hassle, say, at closing time at parks to get a ride? I mean, it sounds like a great resort, but I want to be prepared if we need to plan on driving if we're going to "shut down" a park for the night then can can if the alternative is waiting an hour or more for the late bus. Thanks for your help!

P. S. Our trade would be for a one bedroom. Any experience with four people (two adults, 14 year old and 7 year old) in that size unit? Obviously better than a regular motel room, but ?

Also booked into Windsor Palms for Christmas week. Haven't stayed in a condo in Orlando before, always resorts. This seems to have the best of both - the facilities of a resort and the space of a condo.

Hi,

I have just stayed at Windsor Palms and loved it so much have already booked the same villa for next year.I would highly reccomend this resort:Pinkbounc

My b-i-l traded his time share for this resort. Four of us (all adults) stayed in a 2 bedroom for 8 days this past September. I guess I'm in the minority because I'd never stay in a condo like this again. We don't always stay onsite at WDW - sometimes if we are taking a budget trip, we stay at an offsite hotel in close proximit to the gate. Staying at the Wyndham Palms (sometimes you'll see this same place advertised at Windsor Palms...it got very confusing) had a different feel. We did use the kitchen (because it was there), but I'd much prefer to eat out!
The pools here are nice if you use them, but we never did. Depending on which unit you get, the pools are not walking distance, you need to drive. And, as far as the cinema theater that is on their website....that is NOT located at the condos, and no one at the front desk even knew what I was talking about. It seems that Windsor Palms has two distinct sections...one is homes (single family houses), the other condos. They are right across from each other, however, until the construction is complete, you cannot enter in the same place...it's quite a distance to go around to the condo entrance gate. We did not use the shuttle and I never saw one on property, so cannot comment. I felt very removed from the action staying here. Also, my in-laws were not happy to find out that a meeting with a sales rep was mandatory with the swap.

It is a shame that you had a different experience staying in a condo.I rented the villa direct from the owner and the villa and pool was the nicest I've ever stayed in.I did a search on the internet on windsor Palms and several things came up including villa companies who you can rent villas and condos from a the villa I boked has its own website Disney Daze.

The resort was called Wyndham Palms but this infringed on the 'Wyndham' name owned by....... I've no idea which company! So it had to be changed.

NCByrne, I highly doubt that a sales pitch was a requirement. Perhaps there was a genuine mistake, but I wouldn't be surprised if their salespeople figured people trading in might not know for certain and go along. Trades through reputable companies are just that -- BTDT on the sales pitch, you already bought your location and you are simply trading with another owner. I think that Windsor Palms/Wyndham Palms may be one of the classic examples of how people can stay at the same place and have different views, based on their expectations and how the staff handled their visit (location, explanation and availability of amenities, etc.) At this moment my family and I are at Gatlinburg at a timeshare. What I am looking for here is completely different than what I want at Disney. As incredible Disney fans, we are already kind of sad at the prospect of staying off-site, and our plan will essentiallly be to spend as much time at Disney as possible (although we likely would spend a day at Universal) Thus, while another family would be thrilled at a resort with lots to do there, we are interested in the accommodations and location/availability to transportation to Disney. Thanks for the input.
