Given this situation WWYD?

We currently have a 2 bedroom at SSR for Sun-Thurs of our trip. We fly in on Friday before around 8 PM.

All prices being equal for these two nights which would you do?

Stay off site Friday (Husbands Hilton points FREE), Rent a van and check into 2 Bedroom Saturday morning(reserving through Disney).

or

Take Magical Express to SSR and stay in 1 bedroom both Friday and Saturday night(Reserved through Disney)? With the posibility of having to change rooms on Sunday.

If you don't plan to rent a car anyway, I'd take ME and take the opportunity to stay elsewhere on property such as a deluxe or moderate. Or you could go to Universal or similar for the weekend.

I vote for the latter. Personally, did the first option (not hilton, other off resort) for the first night last trip and it was alot of effort and  angst to move~

Hope you enjoy your Magical pixiedust: Journey wherever you decide to stay!

On an upcoming trip that we have planned, we are staying Friday and Saturday at Marriott's Horizon resort. We are renting a car through National, picking it up at the airport on Friday and dropping it off on Monday at the Dolphin hotel. (I have an Entertainment coupon where I get one free weekend day, so car rental is only $61.00 total for three days). We check in to OKW on Sunday. I'll be able to go to the grocery store before we drop the car off at the Dolphin on Monday. When we drop a car off at the Dolphin hotel, it's easy to walk/boat over to MGM and catch a resort bus back to OKW. Then we'll use Magical Express to get back to the airport on Friday when we check out of OKW.

We have also stayed at a Disney moderate for a few nights, too. And then changed to DVC on Sunday. For the bigger units we almost always stay Sunday through Thursday. When we stay in a studio we usually stay the whole time (6 or 7 nights in the studio).

Sometimes DVC offers a 25% discount for cash if you wanted to check into SSR on Saturday and get a break on the rate. Or maybe use cash for Friday night (if the 25% discount is available) and then points for Saturday. And not have to move at all.

Good luck!

For two years now, we've rented a car and stayed on Hilton points at the Doubletree in Downtown Disney for the first night. It's a neat place with lots of kids activities, and doesn't cost too many Hhonors points. Plus the rooms hold up to 6.

This year, we are getting the car just for the day, staying at Doubletree Saturday night, doing our shopping for the fridge, then checking into SSR on Sunday and dropping the car off at the Alamo desk at the Dolphin. We got a luxury car for only about $50 for the day.

Once before we have stayed at ASSp when arriving late to save $ since we usually get a 2BR. Is it a pain? Yes. However... the cost differential (especially with a good AP rate) can be enough for you to say, "I'd rather spend that extra couple hundred in the parks than for a few hours to sleep".
As for the car, we are one of those families who can't imagine being in WDW without a car so...

Only you can decide how much your time is worth.

Enjoy your trip!
