We booked our Sept 20-26 vacation last week and were unable to get the value resort of our choice. We have to stay at the All Star Sports. My #4 Pick. I'll trade with any one of you!!! An Upgrade? I'd take it!!

You got a $94 credit for each room?? Wow. I thought I did good getting a $5 credit for one room (1A 2C), and $4 for each of the other two (2A each). We upgraded from ASMu preferred rooms to SSR 1-bedrooms.



Yes!! They gave each of us a $97 credit! I know preferred rooms are $94 plus tax. I could believe it!

Well crud, I upgraded from a preferred room too and didn't my $97 for each room back!! AND I had just changed a week ago from a regular room to a preferred, guess we could have saved that money. Oh well, I'm not complaining, I'm still saving $2700 on each of three rooms!!

There seems to be a lot of confusion about this as when my SIL first spoke to the CM about using the free upgrade he told her the rate would actually be lower because OKW doesn't charge for extra adults in the room (their adult son is traveling with them). Because Guest Services had to actually make the change, the CM said he would call her back to confirm the upgrade...at that time he said he was sorry but there would be no credits issued. I guess it really depends on the person handling this on the GS side
and their interpretation of the booking rules as to whether or not the extra fee is charged.

Also, I thought someone posted that they were told the 1bdrms were being reserved for people that had booked preferred rooms -- that appears to be false as well since many people with standard rooms were allowed to book the larger accomodations. Again...the luck of the draw!

Has anyone received an e-mail upgrade since Thursday?

I just called to see if a 1bdrm was available @ OKW and was told the only thing left at either location is studios.

Well...I decided the free upgrade to a 1BR at OKW in addition to free dining was way too good a deal to take lightly - so I added an extra night onto our reservation. Now we have 8 nights of luxury. DH is just lucky that ds5 starts Kindergarten the day after we return or we would have stayed 2 weeks!

I convinced the other 2 families in our grand gathering to do the same - so now we're all on extended vacations.

Oh yeah - all 3 families were scheduled for standard rooms at ASMu. We each got 1 BR's.

KBR, we are staying 11 nights in 2 rooms at ASMo and availability is VERY limited. I called CRO to check on a refund from them and also asked on the upgrades. POP is sold out (as of yesterday... ressies can still be cancelled) and ASMo only has preferred rooms left (as of yesterday). ASMu and ASSp are on a very limited availability too they told me.

I called Thursday night...got the email about 10 minutes before I left work and spent the first 5 holes on the golf course for my league play on the phone (good thing one of the people I was playing with loves WDW as much as I do - so she was very understanding and held the phone for me while I hit ). The first time I called I was told that only my family and not the others in my grand gathering could switch - but this CM did offer me studio or 1BR. When I called back and finally got all 3 rooms upgraded, that CM said 'there's a studio available at OKW' and since the other CM had said 1 BR was good for the deal - I asked him to check for 1BR's and he did and we all got one. I guess things work for a reason - I would have never known to ask if I didn't get mis-information on my first call which forced me to call back later.

Please take this the right way. No sour grapes here but I'm curious to know why on earth the people who were offered a studio were not happy enough with THAT???? I'm sorry but, especially considering you have free dining, why does every party of a Grand Gathering need their OWN 1 bdrm villa? Why not take 2 studios and maybe 1 villa or something????

Okay....really, this is the only thing that has me miffed. In fact, we have 3 rooms booked at ASMu and I wouldn't dream of taking 3 villas when it is totally unnecessary. You're going from a Value to a Deluxe!!!! They could cram all 8 of us into one 2bdrm unit for all I care...not that we'd be cramped...but there is no way I would ever ask for 3 villas for our party!!!

To each his own. Just my opinion on this.

I also agree that this has been a nice thread. I would love to here others people's stories of being upgraded and would not like to see it closed.
I would also like to have a poll to see how many people picked OKW or SSR but I'm not sure how to put it up. Anyone who is a pro on the boards want to help.

DH gets an e-mail from Disney for a free upgrade to SSR!
He calls me to tell me he just got this free offer to upgrade to SSR! I tell him, “No, that cant be so.”
He tells me he’s going to forward me the e-mail. Well, I don’t even look at it. Why would Disney give me a free room at a DVC resort? And give us FREE DINING!

Later that night I look at the e-mail. I cant believe it. I tell DH we have to call on this in the morning!!
DH, “SEE! I TOLD YOU!!”

“What will we do about your parents?” I ask him. We cant say see ya, were staying at SSR!

DH get up early and heads to work. He calls Disney and upgrades us to a 1 bedroom villa at
Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa!! I tell him, “We cant do this! We cant leave your parents at ASMU”
He proceeds to tell me he’s already talked to his Mom and they totally understand.
I’m still not happy about it. We need to have our rooms at the same resort! I ask him to call back and see if
we can get his parents upgraded. We are shot right down! We are told no one can be upgraded without getting an e-mail code of there own.
Not taking no for an answer especially since so many people on the Disboards had there whole party upgraded! DH calls back.
He tells the CM he got an e-mail to upgrade.
The CM tells him, “No, you didn’t because we didn’t send you one we sent your son one.”
DH a little bit flustered now says, “Well, he must of forwarded it to me, I dunno?”

The CM puts him on hold.
We are squirmin! WOW she knew that he didn’t really get the e-mail!! We are busted by Disney!

Finally she comes back on the line. They agree to upgrade Papa and Grandma!!!
Thank goodness! We are so happy! I really didn’t want to have separate resorts!

I think it just depends on who you talk to. I had to call a couple of different times to get things right. Basically, if you don't get the answer you want from one, then keep trying. Eventually, so it seems, you'll get what you want. I am just feeling very blessed right now. This is our first vacation and it seems that everything is just falling into place.
