WWE'S Chris Benoit and his family found dead!

I went into this WAY back...somepeople can seperate the entertainer from the man...others can't. It's that simple...it's like the killer cop(here in ohio) some can and will seperate that he did great things as a cop serveing and protecting us..from the fact that he killed his girlfriend and unborn child...others won't...it's personal opinion.

WOW :sad2:
1. Find me one thread on the DIS that has all facts and not one opinion. :rolleyes1 Posting just facts, esp. about something like a celebrity murder-suicide, seems impossible. People can go to a news site to find news. People come on the DIS to share opinions on it.

2. Many people have stated that they can respect Benoit as an athlete even if not as a man and how incredible his career was. This is similar to Hitler being called a powerfully talented orator and charismatic leader. They both may be true, but it is easy to see how one positive can be overshadowed by such a large negative and how so many people have a hard time separating them.

Exactly. I am sorry but there is some evil that will overshadow ANY good a person has done in their life.

Ok, here is where the "choke-hold" came from - the DA this morning on GMA:

DA: Wrestler's Son May Have Died in Chokehold

New Clues in Murder-Suicide but Still No Motive

http://www.abcnews.go.com/GMA/Story?id=3320736&page=1

I think the difference is that -

The report says:

Ballard told ABC News the boy may have died after being put in a wrestling chokehold.

Not OMG he killed his son using by using a choke hold!!!!!!! No one but Benoit and Daniel know for sure.

It is all still speculation at this point.

Lets use your killer cop analogy.

Do you think the department he worked for will honor him for his police work ever again????

Not the murderer, the cop.

I agree. :thumbsup2

Not that I have a written bit about it,..but there is another rumor that was on the radio earlier is that Benoit owed a bunch of money to some very bad people who forced him to watch the murder of his wife and kid then they hung him after putting him and the family on some drugs to keep them pretty much unable to move.

this sounds like a crazy theory and something posted by someone who is unwilling to believe...but it's still a possibility until the cops say other wise..as they have said they are still going over the house and trying to decided if anyone else was involved.

Now this theory or rumor sounds possible. Anyone could have done texting. The last text said "dogs are locked in poolhouse" "side door of garage open" but when they got there they said it was difficult to go in because the dogs were loose. Somethings just don't seem right.:confused3

Yes but some of the hardcore wrestling fans claimed it was a false report, tis not.

Incasee anyone didn't get to read what I reported last night was that I was hearing rumbelings(and now posted by bob ryder on 1wrestling.com) that

Benoit had grown parrinoid that people were following him and his family of the last 6months or so. In fact he told Nancy to not leave home alone.

Also he was once super against religion..infact hated all forms of it...yet over the last few months he became super religious.

This sounds like a man not right in the head...which among other thigns leads me to believe that roid rage was not the issue as some media are tryign to state.

I know you were't going into the wwe thing but...

No I do not....but the thing is the wwe has stated they will NEVER again mention him ontv or show footage of him. The tribute monday night was before the facts...let me give a little time line of that for you since I know it.

The Fayetteville police contacted the WWE at aprox 4:00pm to to tell them they had found benoit and his family dead and that the house was a "huge crime scene" The wwe's showstarted on tv at8:00pm--fans were to be let in at 7:00pm.

They decided at 5:00pm to cancel the live show (since many of the fans would not have known- and it would be hard to work under those curcumstances) the tribute was made and shown..at 10:00pm (2 hours into the show) the fayetteville police released thier first statement in whcih they still thoguht it was a triple hommicide or possible double/suicide.

as of yesterdays info the wwe has ended allmention of benoit or tributes, ect.

Back to the cop...All that said that doesn't mean that his fellow officers will not remember the good stuff he did. They just may not honor it..but they will remember it.

And that is fine for many people...I am just too positive and life is too short for me to ignore the good people have done.(not that what benoit did was good...he was just an entertainer.)

I can and do seperate the entertainer benoit from the man....benoit was his character (like in a movie)..I enjoyed the entertainemtent he brought me. I never knew his as a person and think what he allegedly did (at this point) is dispicable and horrendous. But that is not going to make me forget the enjoyment I got from watching him inthe ring.

Maybe I have a differnt perspective as I have always seperated wrestlers/movie stars, ect. from their own sceen personas and their real life persona. Also having worked int eh biz i can tell you many of the guys are different backstage then they are in the ring..some are not, but many are.

I'm not sure if that makes sense to anyone..I can try to explain it better/another way if you need me to.

I thought this was interesting. A lot of people are bashing WWE for the tribute show MONDAY night.

Yet this comes from the DA. Bolding mine.

Ballard indicated that the bodies were found Monday around 2:30pm and it wasn’t until Tuesday around 2pm that it was officially announced that it was a double-murder-suicide, so WWE may not have known Monday night that it was a double-murder-suicide with Benoit as the murderer. He noted that investigators were being very guarded about what info they let out until they had all the facts straight. He said there may have been significant details that WWE didn’t know about Monday night.

Frantz pressed and clarified what he saw on WWE .com during the RAW show about a double-murder-suicide – but noted that no one was saying at that point who the murderer was – and it could have been Nancy . Ballard noted that some info may have gotten out earlier – but there was a lot of confusion early and then misinformation as well. He said it is harsh to judge WWE for running a tribute in their grief for an incident they didn’t have all the details about.

WWE has since changed there position on Benoit and are clearly distancing themselves from him. VM said as much himself on Tuesday's show.

I think we need to cut them some slack. Look at people's reactions here and we didn't know the man. These were friends and co-workers making a split second decision.

I'm sorry but if someone murders their family or anyone that is it for them in my book. I am perfectly aware that public people have personal lives and I can watch actors whose personal lives I don't approve of but I draw the line at murders. :sad2:

I get you babe. There's nothing wrong with how you feel. You aren't saying that what he did was ok, you aren't saying that you're going to break out all the DVDs we have and watch and respect him, you aren't saying everyone else's opinions are wrong. You're just CHOOSING to seperate the events, which is fine.

Some of us can do that and some can't. Lets drop that topic and find a new one! :thumbsup2

Thank you Alison...I've been saying that for 3 days now! (and posting the information....just nobody seems to be listening) A few pages back I gave a whole timelime.

Yep, that's how YOU and a bunch of other people feel about it (including me), but Horned King feels differently...No big deal. Like I said, he isn't trying to convince anyone to come to the dark side;) He's just stating how he feels so you can sort of understand where he and a few others are coming from.

Hugs all around! :teeth: :grouphug:

Not that it probably means much but I do understand what you are saying. I was briefly around the wrestling business but have been around 'entertainers' (and athletes) my entire career. The public persona is often very different from the private one. Unfortunately I think 'fans' can get caught up with the public persona and think they 'know' a star.

I too have always been able to separate the difference.

Nichole....let me tell you you are not the only one..the (wrestling) business is torn apart on this just like all of us postershere ont he dis. I've talked to a few wrestlers today (not in the wwe) that feel the same way you do....I've talked to others that fell like I do. That's part of life we are all different and have different opinions.
