I am working with the old books from the 123 Success program and I have a question. How much can you have of a 0 point item? Like a tomato for example. I have some of the *best* plum tomatoes I have tasted in a long time. According to my book, I can have 4 for 0 points. What should I record if I eat more? Does it cost me more?

According to weight watchers online four medium plum tomatoes are counted as 1.5 points.

It may have to do with the new way they count fiber. It used to be that no matter how many grams of fiber something had you could count it, and it was making a lot of foods come in at 0 points. They have since revised WW so that no matter how much fiber something has, you can only count up to 4 grams per serving.

Hope that helps.:)

EEk!  It sounds like I really need to try and get those updated books!! Thanks for the reply, Annie. Are there any 0 point food left with the new system? I typically eat at the bottom of my range, so those tomatos weren't a point buster. ;) I eat alot of green beans and broccoli under the thought that they were 0 points as well!

This is very interesting, I am using the old 1,2,3 Success books too and would love to hear the answer to this one.

Well there were a variety of ways I could put the serving size in. Since you had given a number I put in 1 med. plum tomato and it gave me .5points. 4 of them came up at 1.5points. So I went back and tried it with ounces to figure how big that med. plum tomato would be and it came out to .5points at 4ounces.

Pretty much if you eat enough of something eventually it will have points. A cup of broccoli has zero points, but 2 cups has .5points. WW online and e-tools are very precise! :) ;)

As I said previously, I believe it has to do with the fact that they won't let you count any more than 4 grams of fiber anymore. If you could count all the fiber all these veggies had, you could eat a field full of broccoli and still come up with 0 points, but we all know that the veggies do have calories that need to be considered.

Annie,
Thanks for the informative reply. Does WW online come 'free' with the weekly meetings? Part of me wants to sign up, get the updated information, and attend meetings. The other part of me says, You are doing fine with the old info (passed on to me from a friend), wait until you hit a plateau and can't move downward. The support here at WISH is the BEST!!!!:teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

Your welcome geetey!!!!

Unfortunately, no, it's not free. If you go to meetings it's $10 per month and they call it e-tools. If you don't attend meetings it's $15 per month and they call it Weight Watchers On Line, but it's the same site. It has some really neat features, my favorite being that if I have a recipe that I have NO idea how many points it is I can enter all the ingredients, the number of servings and it will tell me how many points per serving! They also have a bunch of recipes with points listed.

There's an online journal that will bank and borrow food points for you, as well as keep track of your activity points, a weight tracker that shows a graph of your weight loss (I think I'm dead, I flatlined!;)) And a panic button that brings you to a page to help you when you've fallen off the wagon. There are community board over there but I found it to be too cliquish for my taste.

If you're doing well on your own that's great, but if you need help, try it out. You can always cancel it.

Good luck!
