Roaring Forks is your basic snack bar, but the hours are good and allows you quick pick up items and drinks. You can buy a refillable mug good for your stay for about $11; the refills are free, so if you partake often, then they will pay for themselves and make a nice souvenir back home as well.
Whispering Canyon is designed for enjoyment of the festivities more than of the food, though many on here really like the food. My DD4, DW, and I tried it out for dinner in August and found the experience enjoyable overall. However, the food was pretty mediocre to be honest. I ordered nachos, and they came with a canned-tasting meat sauce (what little there was), virtually no cheese or sour cream, and no jalapenos. My DW and DD had the chicken which was passable but nothing special. Others claim the skillet meals are the way to go in WC. Perhaps so. But, the real treat is watching the hoopla surrounding the entire dining area as most of the servers are real high energy. There are races, dances, songs, and the list goes on. I'd recommend it for the good times but not for the food which we thought was overpriced for the quality.
Artist Point is a top tier restaurant featuring beyond the norm entrees such as buffalo, salmon, and halibut among others. They offer a wine pairing flight of 3-4 four wines which you can choose or leave up to the server. Appetizers and salads are imaginative and tasty, as are the desserts. Their French press coffee served tableside is a must. It is pricey, but the ambience and service we received made it very worthwhile (plus we lived in Alaska for 4 years and these prices seemed rather appropriate for the experience). They do have a kids' menu, and our server was excellent with our DD. Hope this helps.
