Wow the crowds...

A lot of times, the FP lines seem long because people aren't ready when they reach the scanner - they don't have their tickets (or phones) out, so there is a delay as they pull out their wallet and find the tickets. Then they block all the scanners as they attempt to scan the tickets for each person in their group (instead of each person scanning their own ticket). And on rides with a second scanner, it happens again since people don't keep their tickets out.

My one and only complaint about the FP system and biggest frustration while visiting the parks now!

They've been letting people into Disneyland for 10 minutes. We aren't even close. The entry system stinks here. If it's your 1st day, everyone has their picture taken. I miss magic bands.

We were in DL until about 1 today-seemed a little better than the last two days. Got a ton done between 7 and 9:30 or so. Off to DCA in a minute.
Have not had much time for the forums here this week but I agree with @limace. We were here Tue/Wed and I thought the crowds were as I reported in the OP. But Thurs they definitely let up as have they this AM Friday. I think one of the SCAPs got blocked again starting yesterday/Thurs - the lowest level that was supposed to hit summer blockout 2-3 weeks ago until Disney's big surprise announcement. But the other SCAP was supposed to be blocked this week and is not until maybe today/Fri. Someone else please feel free to check.

We go to Disney almost every June and have also been there over Thanksgiving, Halloween and random other dates. I have never seen it so crowded as when I was there this last Monday 6/18 and Tuesday 6/19. Monday, we arrived at 6pm as we had been in LA for the day and the both the train and monorail were +45 minute waits. Astro Blasters (that usually hovers between 5 - 30 min) was 55 min. We left and went to Trader Sams and came back around 9p and it was still crazy. On Tuesday, we arrived just after opening and the security line was all the way back to Harbor. Almost all ride lines were averaging 55 min plus and fast passes were going fast. This was our last day in the park and we only had a 1/2 day. We had been there since Friday so it wasn't a big deal for us, but I cannot imagine if I only had 1 or 2 days in the park and those were it. What was really surprising is almost everything was walk-on on Saturday and Sunday! On Sunday, Star Tours had 15 min wait at peak day, Indy was only 45 min (which is good for Indy), and Peter Pan ~35min.
Thanks for your input. I understand crowd comparisons are subjective but I am standing by my OP. Your observations line up with mine. :)

I will also say that we did have some long FP return lines Thursday but not nearly as bad as Tue/Wed. We decided to bite the bullet and get in one yesterday at Space Mtn. Never in my life have I seen an FP return line so long at Space Mtn. We timed it and it took 10 minutes to get to the second FP check point. Usually that is 30 seconds. So the long FP return added about 9 minutes to the Space Mtn wait. Not horrible but not as fast moving as some of you have reported experiencing. Because of that it made us miss out IJA FP return which was a bummer. Many of the CMs have made comments about guest MP ignorance holding things up. So I get that. But not sure why some rides have long FP/MP return line backups and others don't.

We did get a "positive surprise" pixie dust this AM from a great CM plus an impromptu M&G with Minnie Mouse at DCA who DGD3 worships. She got a hug from Minnie. So today has been great.

Others told me that buying MP each morning was very easy but I experienced the opposite on the first 3 mornings. Each day a different problem. One made me miss a ride with DGD3 trying to get it fixed by Disney which they were unable to do. I will get details later but I will say getting MP going for 3 of the 4 days was quite frustrating. I design software for a living so am tech savvy. It was a Disney problem, not user error problem.

How great that you can share Disney with your DGD. Three is such a great age for experience! So glad you got some pixie dust!!

Yesterday, my Maxpass order was declined 3 times before it finally went through. Nothing changed on my end for it to be accepted,so it was something to do with Disney.

Today definitely seems better, but we are at the end of our visit and already exhausted, so it isn't doing us a lot of good.

To top it off, I hurt my foot/ankle Wednesday night, walked on it yesterday, and now it is all swollen and miserable, so I had to rent a wheelchair. I think I may have broken something and will be getting an xray when we get home.

It makes me feel bad for everyone that needs to use them regularly. Very few people seem to care, think nothing of cutting you off, etc, and I have had several people smash into my swollen foot and not even bother to say anything (although one sweet lady on Jungle Cruise this morning felt really bad about bumping me).

There was definitely a maxpass issue yesterday morning-I heard other people frustrated too, and it took a long time for mine to go through. Other than that, it hasn’t worked pretty darn smoothly for Disney IT :)-I’m definitely a fan. Crowds much better today-so glad our vacation is ending on a less crowded note, though who knows how tomorrow will go with the preview.

Sorry @Mamato4boys about your foot!! That timing stinks. Hopefully nothing broken. People cut us off all the time with my dd’s wheelchair. Or stand right in front of her during shows. People are so clueless!

We’ve had problems getting MP orders to go through a couple days too. Keeps getting declined and yes, it’s same info as day before so definitely Disney problem. Other than that, love MP. It’s made our days easier for sure!

DCA crowds were much better yesterday but like everyone, we are headed there today and I’m a bit scared :scared:

As some of you who read this forum know, a number of us got caught in Disney's last minute change of AP Blockouts.

I hadn't heard about this yet. Do you have a link that shows the changes, HydroGuy? Our family will be at the resort Aug 17-19 and in the parks on the 18th and 19th. We've been at the DLR around this time a few times over the years and the crowds are always great thanks to the AP blockouts and possibly to the Summer season just winding down. Should I be worried about this year? (Also, the Touring Plans crowd calendar--which has always been very accurate for me--showed we'd have around a 5 or 6 crowd level depending on the day). Thanks!

Watch your statement. We had that problem on one of our 5 park days. And sure enough, we ended up being charged twice.

The date changes were just a handful of days over the last two weeks.

They are over, won’t affect your trip!
