WOW - I just sold my old gold........

My paypal account is not link to a bank account and I just requested a check, I think there is a small fee for having a check sent to you, like $1.50 or something like that.

OOOh I might like this idea better! I'm off to site to do some research!! Thank you again!

I snet my gold off yesterday and just received my phone call from USGB....they offered me $501 for my old gold!!!!! :cool1: Just waiting on my check!!

That is fantastic...I called and had them email me their instructions I think I'm going to go shopping and get me a couple of manilla envelopes!

When you called FedEx what supplies did you ask them to bring you????? Was it easy??? Did you setup a time with them??

Thanks just trying to ease my mind with all of this LOL!

The process was VERY simple...I actually went to a FedEx Kinkos and mailed it myself...it's on the way to my house from work.

Jenjolt, all you'll need from FedEx is an airbill and a FedEx Pak. I believe that all drivers are required to keep a supply in their trucks. The whole process was easy....both the interaction with FedEx and all dealings with USGB. I would definitely nail down a time for FedEx to pick up your package, just so you don't sit around all day waiting for them.

How long do you usually have to wait before your check arrives?

So I have a package of old gold to be mailed off...but I noticed it says "precious metals" as well. Does that include Bronze? I have a all bronze plate and was wondering if that was something that would be included or not.

I know silver is on.
Anyone know how well they can do with silver? I have a whole set of silverware that my mom gave since she bought new. I's really old, and bascially never used at all. If it's worth something, it may be worth sending it, but if it's not worth that much, then I will keep it.
I think I have read of others sending it in, but never heard what they got for it?

Hi! It has to be Sterling to begin with...not plate. My experience with sterling silver wasn't good. You will make more $ listing it on e bay or ETSY or someplace. :) Good luck.

I looked at ebay and most are only selling there silver silverware for like $20. I would think it would be worth more than that?
I know it's been mentioned, and I will try and search it, but how do you know it is silver. I know there are supposed to be markings. Aslo with gold, how do you know it's really cold or not?

I was doing some browsing and searche for silver prices. I may have read this wrong, but it really sounds like silver is worht crap compared to gold. If I read right, Gold is over $900 an ounce, while silver is only just over $12.00 an ounce. What a difference. :scared1: Too bad, as I have alot of old silver stuff. I also have an old silver tray that is really heavey, but has no markings. I'm pretty sure it's silver though, and it tarnishes like crazy.
How do you tell if something is gold or not? I had heard that if it got stuck to a magnut, it wasn't gold, but I have stuff that won't stick and I'm pretty sure they are not gold. :confused3
I am just kicking myself for hrowing away a bunch of broken gold peices before we moved 4 years ago.

I emailed usgb today regarding the bronze, but haven't heard anything back. I'll let you know if I do!

Thanks to those of you who advised me to go with USGB! I sent my gold on Friday and they called today. My total was $660.41!!:thumbsup2
That was a lot more than I had expected and it will all be going to the Mouse!

Can I ask how much you sent? I have a ring that lost it's stone, 2 small light bracelet chains, and a diamond tennis bracelet given by an ex that I haven't worn for ten years or more. I have a few earings, but I really don't know if any are gold or not, but I'll send them in I guess.

Also on the talk of silver for those who have sent in. I have some silverware, I thought was silver, as my mom made me clean it as a kid and I was always under impression it was. But I looked at it today and on the blades and the eating parts of the fork and spoons it says stainless steel. Does that mean the whole thing is stainless, or is the handle perhaps silver? I guess I could take it to a jeweler an ask?

Amazingly I got 2400.00 for half a baggy full of gold. Some old chains, single earrings, odds and ends. I was amazed when I was asked if that price was okay. For half a baggy full I almost fell over. I went to a person who buys gold, didn't want to send it. My friend had about a quarter bag full and got a check for 1600.00. She also was amazed.
I am now searching the house for more gold I may have missed. :thumbsup2

Was it a jeweler you went too? It sounds like you got high dollar. I don't have much. I still keep kicking myself every day for throwing out several odd peices before we moved a few years ago.

He does sell some vintage jewelry but mainly he just buys gold, silver, and stones. I don't know what he does with it all, I was just so happy with the money I made.
That's too bad about getting rid of some gold, I would be kicking myself also.

Can anyone recommend a reputable jeweler in the Boston area and even the South Shore area (Quincy, Braintree, Weymouth) that buys jewelry? I have some pieces I just don't like anymore that have been sitting in a drawer for years. They are gold bracelets with some stones in them.

I don't know much about jewelry so I don't know where to go.

The place I went was in Westwood. If you are willing to come a little further PM me and I will give you some info on it.
