WOW - I just sold my old gold........

I just sent my stuff in to USGB but I am so stupid I forgot to tell the woman that I brought it in to that I needed a padded envelope and she put it in a cardboard letter one.I didn't remember that they said not to do this till I already got home.I hope it gets there ok.:scared1: I sent a decent amount of stuff-11 charms,10 mismatched earings,5 rings,9 bracelets and 8 necklaces.I am hoping to use the money for airfare.

I just got back from a local jeweler. I had a charm & charm holder, a few mismatched earrings, and several broken chains (very fine) and a small ring. I got $156.00!!!!

I hope all goes well for you with the mailing...it looks like you sent off quite a bit. I've been nervous about sending my stuff out to USGB (even though I sent for info a couple of weeks ago and they emailed me back with mailing details) because folks here have said they aren't accepting any more shipments. My DH says they'd probably accept it anyway because I got the mailing info...but I really don't want it to be refused and have to pay for it!!

I had requested the info 2 weeks ago too but wasn't sure if I was going to do it or not.I wasn't going to do anything with it-it's been sitting around for at least 10 yrs so if it gets lost I will try to tell myself its ok it would still be in the drawer.Honestly if it wasn't for reading about it here I never would have sold any of it-I even threw away a bunch of really ugly stuff a few yrs ago:eek: So for now I am not going to freak out to much just wonder why I have these moments of complete stupidity!!!

Just a queation though-if anyone used an authorized fed ex shipping store and not actual fed ex about how long untill you were able to start tracking it on the website?I brought mine into a packing place that had fed ex and she said it would arrive there tomorrow sometime.

As soon as they scan it at the fed ex drop off you can start tracking it.

Okay - to anyone who sent in a package, you can relax! US Goldbuyers will accept every package that comes their way. They usually have a 24-48 hour processing time but they have been so swamped, they don't want their customers to be upset when they don't get their payouts in that time frame so they are trying to slow the flow a little. The manager I spoke to said they have been sleeping at the business for three weeks now to try to keep up and they are just really crazy. Rest assured, your packages will be handled with care.

As for me - he rechecked my order. Apparantly there was a layer of palladium in my school ring - darn that Jostens, that thing was pricey!! - and that throws the machine off when measuring purity. So, if you have a class ring, beware of this! My payout went up $150 just from that being done separately and I'm ending up with $702.44. Now my check is on it's way.

While it has been hard to get someone on the phone and get someone to return calls, the customer service has been great otherwise. I am really pleased that he took the time to recheck my order - even if he hadn't found anything but of course better that he did! He was very adamant that they pride themselves on making their customers happy and was very nice in explaining the process so I could understand it. The experience has been good overall and I would definitely recommend US GoldBuyers.

As always, it's good to know what you are talking about when dealing with stuff like this. A little homework goes a long way. Good luck to everyone. :goodvibes

I just got my offer and they asked me if I wanted the stuff that wasn't gold sent to the salvation army. This included my school ring. I asked him if he could look into the ring again because I had heard about there being something in them that throws the machine off. That thing was very pricey in 1987!

He went off on me about how accurate everything is and I tried to explain NICELY that a "Gene" was kind enough to check yours again but this guy was not nice. I guess they are really swamped but the experience was not a good one for me.

I asked him to send it back along with my check. I have to pay the $15shipping out of the payout as well.

I had used Goldfellow first and I have to say - it was a much more pleasant experience. Their website and service were great.

I ended up using GoldFellow. I had a lot of small, really light rings, earrings and chains. Nothing really heavy. I am getting about $156. Better than nothing!

So who seemed to pay more??? USGB or Goldfellow?

:flower3:

I don't know I didn't get the breakdown. I trusted everyone here that USGB was paying more.

I didn't really care as it was just junk. I do think I got more $ with USGB but the experience dealing with them gave me a bit of acid reflux if you know what I mean.:confused3

Goldfellow's made me feel like I was really dealing with a company who has it together. Their website is great and maybe the cost of overhead is why they pay less?

If I would have had a ton of stuff I guess I would have really done my homework but I basically cheated off of everyone's homework here :rotfl:

I guess the end result is that I am getting money that I didn't have.

I am currently listening to my beautiful IPOD Touch that I purchased with my first payout :yay:

Ugh, that stinks! Gene is one of the managers there, I guess he's more used to being nice to people? I don't know. Doesn't look good for them though...

I don't think they refuse packages. If they sent you their FedEx acct # and all the mailing info then they will accept it.

Thanks for all the info. I just signed up at Goldfellow. Is there a place we mention the disboards when we send it in for 10%?

Well, I just sent a message to USGB asking if they'd accept my package as I've already received info from them. I figure I've got a 50-50 chance of hearing back from them at all since they're so busy. Crossing my fingers!

I think I'm going to send mine out tomorrow to USGB and I think I'm going to go with Western Union payment cause then I'd get cash and there's no fee that I can see on my side of the deal (USGB will have a fee though).

Anyone else choose Western Union as their method of payment? :confused3

I'll keep you posted. :)

I just talked to Goldfellow because I forgot to include the DISboard reference, but I sent them an email afterwards. She said to write DISNEY BOARDS in big letters on the packing slip so they are sure to see it. I called right after my offer posted online and they're going to cut a separate check for the 10% extra. She said they sometimes don't have a chance to read emails until the very end of the day, so everyone should make some reference to the DISboards on your packing slip.

What an amazing turnaround. Who knew I had $362 just sitting around? I sent my stuff by FedEx yesterday afternoon and the offer was already posted today!!!!!!!!!! WOOO HOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

And thanks again OP!

I'm not 100% sure, but they would probably deduct the Western Union fee from your proceeds. I can't see any business absorbing the cost, especially considering the outrageous fees that Western Union charges.

My PayPal eCheck from Goldfellow cleared today, it had been posted Monday. Also they sent back my no value stuff which I thought was nice. I had never asked them to but it showed up today.

I wish I had more gold! I can't wait to yard sale this spring and search for gold! LOL!

I requested info on Sunday, didn't get to send until yesterday...was delivered and accepted at 9:15 this am... Now just waiting for my call. I figure a week, based on what others are saying.
