WOW - I just sold my old gold........

I'm getting nervous!!! :scared1:

I read that a pp on page 54 got her call last night and I still haven't received mine yet (our packages were delivered on the same day).

I am just so anxious to hear the offer already!! I think about it all the time!! I have a gram scale at home and I figured that I should be getting somewhere around $1800. But what will they really offer? I think I would accept as low as $1500. But what if they offer lower than that? (I told you I think about it All the time!!!) I just want to get the call already. The waiting is killing me very slowly!!:scared:

Okay...I'm done freaking out for the moment! Thanks for listening! :goodvibes

I can see why you are freaking out!!! That is a sizeable amount of money ::yes:: . Hang in there you will be :dancer: :dancer: in no time.

Do you know what they paid you for the silver dollar, i have a few and im wondering what they are worth?
THANKS!

Sorry this is long.............
This is my first post in this thread. I read this from the start and could not decide if I wanted to send my stuff. No sentimental ties or majorly valuable stuff, just knew I wouldn't get what I paid for. Finally decided, whenever you sell something you don't want or need anymore you never get what you paid. I packaged up 3 small rings, 2 were 10 k and one 14 k, 2 short very thin chains, 14 k, 5 small pendants or charms, most likely 10k, 3 silver necklaces, silver class ring, 3 one ounce fine silver dollards for weight, not dollar value, one 1890 silver dollar for dollar value not weight (called a coin dealer ahead of time and because the mint wasn't rare it was worth about 12.00) and a bar of silver made to look like a 100 dollar bill (someone won this and didnt want it and gave it to me, it was pretty heavy). Called fedex monday and sent to USGB, they rec'd it tues. at 3:00 and called me tonight at 7:30. Offered 259.00 total (101.00 for gold and 158.00 for silver) I took it. I was thinking I would get around 165.00 so I was happy. They were fine to work with and I was surprised I was called in 2 days. I may send some real silver ware that someone gave me that I've never used in 12 years. All of it would be pretty heavy. Heavier then the silver I sent this time and then I can free up a drawer it's sitting in.;)

A question for anyone who has accepted an offer from USGB and requested a check instead of paypal...
how long did it take for you to recieve it??

It took two days from the time I accepted to receiving the check. It's in the bank now!

Wow, thats fast! I think I will stick to my decision to ask for a check, it is so tempting to take paypal but it doesn't sound any faster anyway!
Thanks!

Oh..USGB signed for my package exactly 48 hours ago...still waiting for the call!

OK!!! After watching this thread since it was only 10 pages long (!!) I've decided to jump into the mix!

I called USGB today and followed their email instructions on FedExing to them. The FedEx man came by only about an hour after I requested my pickup. I'M SO EXCITED!!! They told me it would be more than 24-48 hours to hear back but I'm okay with that as long as I'm told upfront what to expect. They said they're getting 5000 shipments per day!

I sent in almost 2 grams of gold (14 and 18K, mostly 18K) according to my rinky-dink postal scale. I'm thinking that might bring in $1200?? I can't wait to hear what their offer is!

TheLittleRoo...did you really mean 2 grams of gold? That would only be about 1.3 dwt (pennyweight) per a conversion chart I found (1 gram=.643 dwt). Or did you mean 2 ounces of gold?

Well, it is done!

I sent a package of old gold to USGB today so they should receive it Monday. I'm not in a big hurry; it took me 2 weeks of reading this thread to finally send out my package....so it doesn't matter if they call me the end of next week, as long as it's the end of next week at the latest! ;) Of course, I am curious on how much my loot is worth. I tried to weigh it with my kitchen scale and it was just about 2 oz but I could be off. I took a photo of my loot and am keeping it for my records.

I sent them:

10K:
1 graduation ring

14k:
1 gold wedding band, 1 small necklace charm holder, 2 gold rope bracelets, 4 broken rope necklaces (average women's length), 1 non-broken (long/men's length) gold rope necklace, 1 slightly bent Herringbone necklace and 1 set of loop earrings.

18k:
1 non-broken (long/men's length) gold rope necklace.

Still haven't made a final decision on how I want to get paid. I checked off Western Union as I really want the cash and don't want to deal with deposting a check and waiting for it to clear or the paypal fee and transfer delay but when they call me with an offer, I'll make that final decision. I will ask them the Western Union fees, if any.

Well, I'll keep you posted.

Hi again~ an update!! :cool1:

I just got my phone call from USGB, almost exactly 48 hours after they received it. Her name was Jessica, she was very helpful in explaining everything to me in detail.

I sent in apprx. 3.7 ounces of gold. Only two tiny pieces turned out to be not real.
Here is the breakdown:

They offered $1356.92. That is for 69.3 DWT of 14k and 5.78 DWT of 10k. Price of gold that day was $948/ounce. I had the weight almost exactly right, so my little kitchen electronic scale worked great!

Now, that sounds like alot of money, but I was alittle dissapointed. I had figured $1743 according to that days prices and the weight! :headache:

I asked for an explanation on the price difference ($386 less than I thought I was getting). She explained to me that when they are testing the gold, they test for purity. Usually, 14k (for example) is something like 58% pure. 10k is less, 18k more, etc.
All of my gold together tested at 52% pure. She said alot of times, something marked 14k is not REALLY 14k..more like 13k or 12k..you get the idea.

So, my total offer based on the purity was $1356.92, and I accepted it because I know I would not have gotten a better offer from anyone around here, and not from goldfellow or anyone like that either.

I requested a company check, she said that way you get all your money instead of paying a hefty paypal fee, and it is going out today! :woohoo:

I just wanted to let all of you know my experience with USGB, and to say thanks so much for all the great info I learned from this thread!

okay forgot to add something..

I asked her if I could send in more gold, even though they are not taking "new customers" or packages. (My mom has some stuff to sell).

She said as long as you have the info to send it in, and don't mind waiting until they get to it, you can send in your packages.
They are not going to refuse them.

Although I will say that even during this busy period, they got to mine in 48 hours!

Thanks again!

That kills me because they got my package on the 20th and I didn't hear anything back until yesterday:confused3

It must be a zoo there:upsidedow

Hi everyone! I just got my call from USGB. My package arrived there on the 25th at 10:00am, so it took a bit more than 48 hours for me to get my call. My total check was for 601.92. I had figured about 650.00 so I was close. I had 1 necklace, 1 small bracelet, 1 ring, and then a small pile of earrings that was mismatched (and very thin). So I am VERY HAPPY!

how do i send my old gold to usgb? do i call them and they send me a special box or something? can someone help me out w/ the procedure?

Unfortunately, they are not accepting new customers at this time. You can keep checking their website usgoldbuyers dot com to see if they are accepting new customers. Once they are, there will be a button on their main page you would click to request information on how to send them your gold. Then they will send you an email which will have their directions and their FedEx account number so you can send your stuff at their expense.

Holy Cow!!! I just got my call from US Goldbuyers. I am getting $2232.00. All of my stuff was broken gold chains and mismatched earrings and other broken bracelets that were sitting in my jewelry box for years. WOO HOO... my disney cruise balance is paid for. :cool1: :cool1: Now Im going to look through the jewelry box for stuff that I dont wear.

Yes, it sounds like right now there is really no rhyme or reason..they are so swamped.
What I wonder, is if they are sorting by the date a package arrives, or perhaps by the weight of the package??
(as in the heavier ones getting priority over lighter ones..)

Sounds to me like they're doing it by the weight. IMO, they should be doing it by the date it's received.
