WOW - I just sold my old gold........

I personally don't understand why people are upset about having a longer wait with USGB. I'm sure they are exponentially busier than Goldfellow because of the article in the paper featuring them.

If I knew if GF or USGB's accepted pkgs. from Canada I'd probably go with USGB's because their payout seems to be higher. If waiting an extra week nets me even an extra $20 even then it is worth it imo.

If the payouts were very close then I would probably go with Goldfellow to get a faster turnaround, but seeing as the gold has been sitting in my jewelry box for over 10 years I wouldn't be upset about waiting an extra week for a payout.

I might be upset too if other people's turn around time was 2 days, but I had been waiting over a week. Over that time the gold price can drop substantially, which can greatly effect your payout. Besides that I'm just bad at waiting! :goodvibes

:scared1: I called FED EX and they come to DH's office yesterday to pickup my padded envelope. I had it labeled and when I called I said I'd like to place it in a larger padded envelope or cardboard envelope with a FED EX label. Well, DH took off and his secretary gave them my envelope; they added the routing number for USGB, but that's it. And she didnt' get a receipt or tracking number or anything! Shouldn't she/we have? I'm panicked now and going to call FED EX as soon as DH send me the phone number. Has anyone else had a similar experience????!!!

Yes, you should have gotten the top copy of the fed ex label, which would have had the tracking number on it. You could have tracked the package to at least know it arrived safely. But, I think if you were to call fed-ex and give info like where and when it was picked up, and it's destination, they might be able to locate the pkg and give you the tracking number to follow. If they can't, you'll just have to hope it gets to its destination and wait for them to call you with an offer. I know what you mean, though. If I hadn't been able to track the package, I would have been frantic!
Good luck. :goodvibes

Keep in mind that they told me it was still a 24-48 turnaround when I sent my items in. While I can appreciate the fact that they are busy it doesn't change the fact that they were (even up to this morning) were still advertising 24-48 hour processing.

The good news is I finally got a call this morning, 1 week plus xx hours after package was delivered, with the payout ($231.11).

I didn't have that many items - 1 large necklace, 2 broken ones, 1 broken bracelet, 5 earrings and 1 ring (no stone). I think it was a fair offer so I would say yes fairly happy.

That seems good to me!!!
Of course I just found a few more small items I could have sent... oh well:(

Glad to hear they finally got back to you and that you're happy with the payout. Did you happen to weigh what you sent in?

Thanks to whomever first posted goldfellow.com - I only had a few small items to send; but I got $140. Thanks again.

:yay: I usually lurk but had to say THANK YOU! I kept seeing the ads on tv and figured "yeah, right". After reading all your posts, I went ahead and sent some stuff to Goldfellow - mostly broken 14kt chains that I didn't wear, the setting from my engagement ring I had left over from having it reset years ago, some silver - I Fedexed my stuff on Monday and I just got the email - I am getting $387.86 !! There is money for MNSSHP tickets and spending money for our trip in Oct! I also did put the Disboards mention and got the extra 10%.

Thank you again!!

Good for you! :thumbsup2

I saw this thread and I rummaged through my old gold stuff. I had old chains, bracelets, and some of my husband's hideous 80's stuff. I also had a few old rings with small cheap diamonds. I went to a place here on LI that advertises "We buy old jewelry and gold-best price around" etc.
So I packed it up and dragged my baby for a 30 min. drive to see how much I could get. $350.00. That didn't seem like enough, so I left. Also, the place smelled like armpits, not cool.
I decided to take out the rings w/ stones and send it into Gold Fellow. I did this on Monday. Today is Thurs. and I got my settlement-$401.75! And that was without 3 rings! That armpit store was going to rip me off!

I am SO happy that I have Disboards, or I never would have know about GoldFellow. And I got the 10% discount. I called them and thanked them. They were super nice. So, the check is in the mail. :cool1:

Thank you to everyone who posted!
