Would you lie to your spouse about a ticket?

After years of giving my husband a hard time about 2 speeding tickets he got, I got one myself today. :sad2:

Fortunately, the trooper was very nice. (Vermonters you've got friendly cops!) He told me it won't affect my CT record. I really debated telling my husband especially since the $139 is coming out of the Disney Fund.

I did confess and he was actually very gracious about it. I'm sure that I won't hear anything for a week or so then he'll start the jokes.

Would/have you lied about a ticket or something like it?

My ex just never told me about tickets. He's just pay them.

Yes. I kept my one and only speeding ticket a secret from my DH for 10 years. ;) I paid the fine myself so he never knew.

Yes, but only because I've gotten a couple already and he has a *perfect* driving record. I wouldn't want to hear all the comments and jokes!

Of course, if if was something that would affect our insurance, I would tell him. Otherwise, I'd just keep my mouth shut and drive slow!

I got a warning once while DD4 at the time was in the car-- one end of the main road we live off of is 45 the other is 35 and I didn't realize it. Anyway, since it was only a warning I didn't feel that DH needed to know :teeth: and told DD that she didn't need to say anything. Well, as soon as we get home she runs to him and says--'Mommy got caught by the police!' :sad2:

Anyway, tell him and get it over with.

1st let me tell you- that you are VERY lucky that you got a lucky one, and I'm not sterotyping, but this time of the year, they nail you flat landers left and right for speeding, due to the fact that the majority of our winter accidents on our highways are from out of staters..99% of our state troopers are excellent officers...and very friendly...but in the winter- well the 'other side' of them comes out

And yes- Mine knows all about all of my speeding tickets...98 in a 65, 55 in a 35 ( where WAS that 35mph sign??) and my failure to stop ticket..oh the list goes on and on...however......he no longer owns the 'vette so i've stopped getting tickets. He on the other hand- can get a 72 on a 65 on any given day, when i can drive right by him and he'll get pulled over!...

Wow, my first thought is that of course I hate lying!!!

But, my DH has had many tickets (and wrecks) in our 21 years together. He goes to court tomorrow for going 52 in a school zone, but the officer didn't mark it as a school zone. It is his first ticket in a few years. His NC driving record is spotless and supposedly they have this thing called prayer something(?), anyway I guess he is going to try and use that. I, on the other hand, have never gotten so much as a parking ticket or a door ding. He has always said he can't WAIT for my first ticket. He would go on and on and on if I ever got one. I think I would rather not tell him, but eventually I would probably break down and confess. Then threaten to withhold sex if he ever mentioned it again. :teeth:

Don't know what it is like in any other state but in Mass if you get a speeding ticket it goes on your car insurance as a surcharge...the gift that keeps on giving for 5 years. It happened to my husband and I did not let him live it down . I do not think I will ever get a speeding ticket unless they give them for going too slow.

I'm amazed that your first thought was to lie to your spouse. It would never have entered my mind not to tell my spouse the truth about something like that....or anything else for that matter.

Since he is in law enforcement I am sure he would find out about it before he got home and everyone at the office would have had a good laugh about it!!!

Since my husband is a State Trooper I would tell him. But I guess even if he wasn't I would tell him since he is the one that would have to pay it.

Nope... he was the first person I called when I got it!!!!

now other family members... maybe I would ;)

Knock on wood I have not had a ticket since I met DH, but of course I would tell him.

I would never lie - but I might not tell him! So if he asked if I got a ticket, I would answer, but I may not volunteer that information.

No way! If im going to lie to DH its going to be about something worth lying about. ;)

No... we don't lie about ANYTHING. The bad thing is, my husband is notorious for speeding, and gets on me for being 'granny' all the time. Lo & behold, we'd lived in Virginia for less than a week when *I* got a speeding ticket! I was driving because I'm a lot more used to traffic/cities than him, and I'm the one living here (he's in Korea).

He was very nice about it, and agreed w/me that the cop was a real jerk. :earboy2:

I'm sorry about your ticket! The good news is that it won't affect your record, at least!
