Would you let your teen daughter dress like this for Halloween?

Would you allow your teen to dress in one of these Halloween costumes?

  • Yes, but only because it's one day and I don't want her ostracized by her peers.

  • No. There's no way I'm letting my little girl out of the house looking like a 'ho.

But then again my DH and I are packing up our four kids (3 girls and a boy) and moving to "Sin City" next summer. Lot's of people wouldn't do that either. Guess I'm just not a very good mom. :teeth:

How could you? Don't you know what people will think of you? :rotfl2:

No way would my daughter walk out of the house looking like that - Halloween or not.

I voted yes but not for the reason your ridiculously biased poll says.
To be fair, the OP did say he had copied the text from the radio website. If I had to guess as to the type of radio show he was listening to, I'd assume it was a conservative one, as those costumes aren't any more revealing than what the typical teen, dressed in rolled Soffe's and a tank top, shows on any given (warm enough) day in the summer. They certainly cover more than even the most modest one piece bathing suit. I'd let my teen daughters swim, even around...gasp!!...bioys, wearing a two piece bathing suit, too.

Aren't we discussing Halloween costumes? Why would you say "or not"? Do you think those of us who voted "yes" would also let our girls wear this to Youth Group????

Well, sailor dresses are always nice on Easter. :rotfl:

Considering the skirts are about the lengths requirement at our Catholic School...

ETA: Nice choice of wording for the poll!

Interesting how hard it is for some people to answer yes or no questions.

Also interesting how people will brag to high heaven about how well they have raised their kids but it would be out of the question to allow them to wear something like those costumes. Maybe they are not as confident about their daughters upbringing afterall.

So I should say to my daughter, " I know I have raised you right, I know that you are not a wh@r#, therefore, go dress like one" ?

Isn't that the idea of Halloween? Dressing up as something you're not? :confused3

I know my son's not a Power Ranger. He knows he's not a Power Ranger. Yet, I let him dress as one for one day on Halloween. :)

WOW That's kinda harsh! My costume for this year is similar to the Lil Bo Peep one in cut, but definately not in color or theme. Are you saying that this year I am dressing as a "Wh0r#"??? I surely didn't have that in mind when I ordered the costume, I just thought it was cute. Watch what you say, that's quite an offensive comment.

Looking back, one of our daughters had a Halloween party years ago when she was 14 I believe. One of her friends dressed like a "bad cheerleader." Her parents thought it was a cute idea, and it was in a way. The problem was in the details. Now admit it or not, we make judgemnets about people based on what we know. We didn't know this girl or her parents very well. What kind of first impression did that make?

My DD7 is wearing a "bad cheerleader" costume this year. She has NO figure (she's 7 yo). She looks adorable and it is completely appropriate. There is nothing the least bit sexy about it. Am I missing something?

So what do you let them dress like on Halloween? Hopefully not something they are not. :rotfl2:

BTW: Why not just spell out *****? If ***** is one of the words edited by the board software you are not supposed to go around it by using characters in place of letters.

Do YOU think there's a difference between 7 and 14? At 7, yes I do think it is cute. At a pre-teen or early teen age it is not. And even at that it all depends on what she looks like in the costume as a whole. Does that make sense?

FYI you misunderstood me. I said that because many posters have said "sure why not...its Halloween". I don't care if it's Halloween - my daughter wouldn't be allowed to wear this period.

My daughter is allowed to dress as something she is not for halloween. She can dress as a pirate, an angel, even a devil. She does not need to wear a skirt up to her bum to dress as these things. A girl does not need to be inappropriately dressed to be dressed as something she is not. Whether she is dressed as herself or as something she is not, she can do both in an appropriate manner.

If she wanted to go to a party as a ***** (happy now?) as in a prostitute , I would not let her. I would also not let her go as anything else I find disgusting, like a nazi, or a KKK member, or a drug addict.

My parents never told me what I could and could not wear at Halloween or any other time of year for that matter, and I didn't turn into some kind of sexual deviant.
Currently for Hallween I try to dress "sexy." I look young though (everyone thinks I am still in high school). So, it usually doesn't work, I just end up looking more "cute" than sexy. However, the reason I dress that way is because it's Halloween and it's an "anything goes" time of year, kind of like Mardi Gras. It's FUN and innocent. I don't go around w***ing myself out just because I am dressed a little more skimpy than usual. My thoughts on this subject haven't changed since I was a teen.

Also, that pervert who may be lurking doesn't care if it's Halloween or not either.
