Would you join a lawsuit against DVC to stop/revert the 2020 reallocation?

I would also hope it could be settled without litigation, however if that is what it comes down to I would support it. I have been a member for 9 years and I cannot figure out how this point increase in total points is possible.

It occurs to me that the 40 or so people on this thread know what's going on, at least we have an advantage over the tens of thousands of members who in six months are going to go and book there 2020 summer vacation and be completely baffled by the fact they suddenly don't have enough points to book their week at Disney. I wonder how many complaints Disney will field over the next 12 months. Doesn't matter though, since the people making these decisions don't deal with the people that make the complaints.

Anyone going to the upcoming Moonlight Magic events? The execs often show up at these things, I'd love to corner one of them in the park on the topic. It would be worth getting ejected from the event. We're not going in 2019 so can't do this.
I am hoping to be at the MK on Feb 5th. I'll know next Wednesday. I would be willing to a have a conversation with an exec.

But the studios go first, before either, meaning that even if the 1-BD people want to move to a 2-BD, they aren't available, and that will still leave a bunch of 1-BD available.
I think some will book a 2 BR that would have booked a 1 BR before. And some who want a studio will only find a 1 BR though it's that way now. This move will likely decrease studio availability, I'm guessing by roughly 5% on average. That's really a big move in the scheme of bookings and it means somewhat would have booked a studio will now book a 1 BR if that' the case. But regardless of the %, I think it's 100% that the principle will hold.

That's the way it's always been, those on this and similar boards are going to be more informed and better able to navigate the waters of changes and nuances of the system. The early bird gets the worm and when you think about it, you're directly competing with other members for those preferred options. It really is your against me so to speak.

As noted in this thread it's not an increase legally because the lockout's are only treated as the full unit. The question is whether the reallocation in terms of moving between villa sizes for non lockoff's are contractually allowed. So in terms of total points legally it's not an issue.

You'll need to make an appointment and travel to Celebration. I'd encourage it.

In the past I have talked to DVD/DVC executives at events and I have always felt that they are there for show. If you bring up a negative subject that affects their business, they will blow you off and tell you that some underling will get back to you. They never did.

I would be very curious if this would help. Even if they don't want to talk there, if you could get a contact for a conversation.

This is not surprising at all.

I think we're saying the same thing in a different way.owners have to use up their points on shorter stays, since it takes more points to stay in studios and 1-beds. The result is there are more unoccupied rooms, and DVC profits from that.

Or members buy more single use points to make up the difference and Disney profits,

or members purchase additional small contracts and Disney profits.

Sense a pattern?

This is the point I was making earlier. Again I don't know what is allowed by "the rules", but I know how businesses think.
I'll do some simple numbers for representation. (I don't know they do this, but if someone running the section wanted to maximize revenue and it was "allowed")
2BR 36 points per night - That means a Studio is valued at 12 pts against the total pool of point and a 1BR is 24 points against the pool
in the charts a studio is 15 pts (12 + 3) and a 1BR is 27 pts (24 + 3)

If DVDMC is only required to have rooms available to cover the points in the pool every year....

If 2 members book a week at a studio (14 nights) additionally 1 member books a 1 BR for a week- DVDMC takes points for those reservations. That removes 399 points from the pool they need to have rooms available against. But they only provide an actual "value" of 336 points.

Points removed from the member pool of points, which DVDMC needs to keep rooms available for reservations made by other members = 399
Points removed from available room inventory = 324
Available inventory now exceeds what DVDMC must keep available for member reservations by 63 points.

Under a possible interpretation of the rules, DVDMC could immediately make 63 points of rooms available for cash reservations (and that is at the 12 & 24 & 36 points levels). So they could allow a 5 night stay in a studio immediately.

Has any one tried contacting them very publicly on their social media? It's possible just the question would raise a red flag for others / non-disboard owners or potential buyers. Maybe it would get a response and if nothing else some additional supporters.

I have always been very successful with this approach for issues with other businesses.

I d guess if everyone interested in the answers takes this conversation over to where they are advertising, there's a good chance of actually getting a response.

Also. I'd be asking resale brokers and on their social media as well. The fact is, we were all told points can shift but point totals cannot change. ANYONE selling this product should have the facts straight and able to answer the consumers questions appropriately.

It depends on who you talk to but my experience is different. But I've done what I recommended earlier, made an appointment and traveled to Celebration to the corporate offices. They could not have been nicer or more appropriate. Legally you have that right but I never felt a negative vibe doing so.

All of the above will just delete it.

I agree it needs to be brought to light. Members are their best advertisers to buy into DVC. I think I have sold at least 20 different people, whether at the pool of BCV, co workers, and friends and family. I could not promote DVC purchase under these conditions

Has anyone contacted a lawyer to ask about the legality of this whole thing. I agree with Doug in that just because it has been done in the past does not mean it is legal. How many of us speed and do not get a ticket...does not mean ots legal. Great analogy Doug! Anyone on here a lawyer who can give is a little more insight?

Dues increase...
Need diversion....
Increase points charts....
Need diversion....
Announce new restrictions on resale...
Need diversion....

When do we get the details on major direct price increases...?
