Would you go?

I’m going. 2 weeks at end of September and 2 weeks at end of January.

I am vaccinated, and I’ll be wearing a mask indoors or if in close confines. (I plan to double mask if needed with a procedure mask & Disney mask)

Flying Westjet, the September flight includes the Covid coverage if I have to isolate for 2 weeks in a hotel.

We are also DVC members and just got back from WDW after a 7 night stint this Saturday August 28th.

We rented a car, and stayed in a one bedroom at OKW. We had indoor dining every day for lunch and dinner.

Our ages were 19 to 50 - 4 persons, all fully vaxed.

To be honest after going through the process we’d do it again.

The parks were super quiet and essentially when we would get in a crowd (or something like a crowd) certainly indoors, and outdoors-we masked up even if others did not.

It’s hard to tell others what’s right for them - but after experiencing it, I was more and more comfortable as the trip went on.

Wearing a mask in the heat sucks.

Just my 2 cents.

Good luck and take care.

Things can change so much in 6 weeks. It's really a tough judgement call.

I know there has probably been a lot of questions like this, but DW and I are torn. We are DVC members and have not been to WDW since Nov of 2019. Back in the spring when we knew we would have our shots, and all the trends for Covid were down, we book an Oct 12 to Oct 17 stay at BLT. Now, especially in FLA, its a totally different story. This trip will just be me and DW (Mid 50's and in very good health) and we are trying to decide whether or not to cancel. On the one hand, Covid/Delta is crazy now, especially in FLA, but on the other hand we are fully vaxxed, our flight is out of Canada on AC (i.E. all will have to be vaccinated to fly) are renting a car (no disney transit) and have booked all our ADR's at Resto's with a patio. We are planning to go to the parks, but rides will only be an option if we feel it is safe and we wear our masks.

So......would you go in our circumstances? WE MISS DISNEY! :)
Yes you should go. We went early August as soon as they ended the 14 day quarantine with vaccination. We used hand sanitizer, wore masks and it was fine. Just follow regular protocols and go. We were in crowds at disney and universal, some with masks and some without, we always wore masks and were fine.

We went to 3 different hotels and no problems. So yes you can do it if you follow regular protocols, not different than from here. It sounds like you are planning to be careful so go and enjoy

I say go! I just posted a quick review of our stay if you're interested, just back today:)

We got back 2 weeks ago. While it’s true not everyone on plane will be vaccinated all will have been tested.
I went. Wore masks and went on rides. Minimal table service restaurants but those we went to didn’t have tables close together.
We are fully vaccinated and no under 12’s or medically fragile. Carried hand sanitizer and Used it after rides if there wasn’t one available at ride exit.
The cases in Florida are unvaccinated people. True you can still get virus if vaccinated but it’s very rare. I think if you take reasonable precautions you’ll be fine. When we watched the MK fireworks we stood behind the castle by the Carousel. May not have the proper perspective but still fun and no crowd.

Yes, I would go - as a matter of fact, we just did and got back yesterday. We also have an 11-year old unvaccinated daughter. The trip was great - weather was awesome, crowds were non-existent and we had an incredible time.

We felt safe the whole time we were there because we did what we felt was necessary to keep ourselves, and our unvaccinated daughter, safe...the same thing we do at home in Alberta. If you go about your business, mask up at the appropriate times (we wore masks indoors and out), you can potentially be ok (I can elaborate on the types of masks we wore, but again, we wore what we felt would keep us safe - others may disagree). I say "potentially" because obviously, the chances you can catch it are there, but we felt the risk was the same if we tried to do some recreational activities in our home province.
Masks in the heat - completely fine. Of course, we would prefer not to wear masks - but completely doable, in my opinion.
What masks did you take with you? At work I wear one for my entire shift and have found the 3D shaped ones to fit my face better. I have been wondering what type would be most comfortable in the parks..

Welcome home sounds like a great trip!!!!!

I will tell you what we like and what we feel is safe for us. I am sure everyone will have an opinion on it, and I am not trying to debate which masks are medically better, etc. Just stating what we like and what we felt safe with.

For outside walking around the parks and not in any close quarters line ups - my wife makes custom sized and fit cloth masks with Merv 13 filters in them. She makes them to specs where we are comfortable that the numbers of layers of cotton and the Merv 13 filters provide us good protection. Again, this is what we used outside. Because they are custom fit, they are very comfortable and do not have any gaps around the sides of our faces. We know this is not respirator quality, but again, we feel they provide enough protection for what we used them for.

For shopping indoors and most other indoor spaces or outdoor lineups, we would all cover the cloth masks with a ASTM L3 Procedure Mask (https://thinka.ca/collections/best-...ocedure-mask-with-earloops-50pcs-astm-level-3) just to give us a little bit of extra protection when in closer contact with people.

For really close quarters (think test track, Frozen, at airports, on the flights) - we would use N95 masks (https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/p/d/v101146024/). I realize that for a proper N95 function, these need to be sized correctly but we found them to fit very snug on all of us, including my 11 yr old daughter. They are very comfortable and easy to breath through and we had no fogging of glasses, or sunglasses. They also fold up nicely into a small, flat package. For our trip down, we had them on 100% of the time for 12+ hours without issue (except when eating). We were all really surprised at how comfortable they were.

I realize this sounds like overkill - and it probably was. But again, it was what we felt comfortable with to be safe. Really, it was not that hard and the trip was definitely worth the extra effort.

Perfect thank you for sharing. Nothing these days seems overkill to me we just have to figure out what we are comfortable with etc. I have some of the 3m ones you used at work and that is what we were planning on using for the planes. I think you are right finding the ones that fit comfy then you don't need to move them etc.

We just got back last week. Had the time of our lives. We too are DVC members at BLT and haven't been since 2019. Our youngest is 11. We wore surgical grade masks, even when outside in more crowded areas but frankly it was quite low crowds when we were there...unlike we had ever experienced! We also sanitized before and after everything we touched...we went through bottles and bottles of sanitizer but noone in our family minded. I instructed my family to not touch their nose, eyes our mouth under any circumstances until they sanitized. I rapid swabbed them every day (I am lucky enough to be able to do so). We used wipes to wipe down our plane seats, trays, etc. Yes, it was more work and planning than usual but we had an absolutely fantastic vacation.
