Would you go to Palo alone?

I've heard so many good things about Palo on these boards, and I would really like to experience it on our cruise in October. My DH, however, is not at all into what he considers "fancy" dining. He's a real meat & potatoes kind of guy. Add to that the fact that he was diagnosed with diabetes several months ago and has to be very careful about what he eats, and we'll just say that he is not as excited as the rest of us about eating in the restaurants each evening.

DH would prefer the buffet, which is of course an option each night if we wish, as he has more choices and feels more comfortable in that type of environment. We've agreed to try the restaurants and decide how we feel about where to eat dinner when we're on board. He is not, however, interested in going to Palo at all.

So... my question is this: would you go to Palo alone in my situation? Would I feel very conspicuous and strange eating there by myself? Would the brunch be better (as I would likely also be missing either dinner or some event with my family to do this)?

I would go to Palo alone for dinner AND brunch if I had to!
I don't think you will feel strange. The servers are very friendly and will make you feel comfortable. I have heard that you can eat at the bar, so that might be an option too. You might even be able to hook up with fellow cruisers...we ate at Palo once with a mom who was sailing alone with her young daughter. I say go for it!

Go for it and enjoy every minute! I certainly would go by myself if I had to.

Have the seater place you by the window so you can look out.

Have no doubt the staff would be very accommodating for your husband if he chose to go with you. Let them know beforehand he would need special consideration regarding the menu. The food will be made as "simple" as he would like.

Bon Voyage.

All of the restaurants on the cruise are VERY accomodating for special diets. I'm diabetic and I've been on DCL 3 times and have had no problems managing my meals.

Actually- the buffet was harder to make good choices because you couldn't ask for things cooked certain ways or with / without certain accompanaments.

They also offer a lot of sugar free deserts. If he won't go to Paolo then definitely go on your own! It's SO worth it (and you could actually get him take out to try).
