Would you give up your degree?

The degree that I currently hold, yes. It's just an associates in business administration though...

I'm working towards elementary education right now and I wouldn't give that back.

DH would give his back. He really only bothers going anymore to get the GI Bill.

Nope. I do not currently work in the field in which I got my BA, nor do I plan to; however, it is the one thing that I can say I did on my own 100%. Paid for it, studied, worked, got my butt up in the morning. All me. There is also a huge sense of pride that I was the first one in my family to go to and graduate from college. I remember as I walked out of my last final thinking - No one can ever take this away. :thumbsup2

Not at all--my current status doesn't make my degree worthless. I earned it, it is mine.

At anytime when I go back to school--if I choose, it will enable me to go directly the Master's route (depending on the degree) or exempt me from a whole crapload of pre-requisites.

I Wouldn't cancel my degree for anything.

Of course, all my tuition was paid with scholarship money from the state--so I would wonder if the state would just be permitted to reimburse itself.:confused3

Need to add that I think my husband would give back my degree in a heartbeat! Since I am a SAHM, he would definitly take the $$$!

If the college gave you back all of your money in exchange for your degree. I would.

Last night DH was opening the mail and there was a letter from my alumni association. I was joking around and said it was a letter saying I didn't really graduate. So DH posed the question. I immediately answered yes. I'm not using it since I'm a SAHM and I'm planning on going back to school in a few years to get my nursing degree.

Oh heck yes..I mean, it doesn't erase all the knowledge and experiences, right?? Just the paper? In a skinny minute, it means nothing to me. The experiences did, but the paper-nothing.

Sure I would. It's not an engineering degree nor a butt kissing degree. Around me, that is all that pays well. Doesn't matter if you even know anything, just as long as you have a piece of paper stating you have an engineering degree or physically show that you will kiss anyone's and everyone's butt and you are good to go.

I should have moved out of PA when I had the chance....

Since I had a scholarship, I wouldn't get back anything if I gave back my degree, so there's no way I'd give it back! DH probably would...he's a computer geek and most of what he learned in college is out of date or he already knew. He has the piece of paper to make me happy. :)

I'm in the process of getting my degree right now.

It has been a LOT of work and I have a LOT of work left.:faint:

When I'm done, I know I will be incredibly proud of myself for finishing. University is going to take me a quite a bit longer than the "4 year plan" because I have to take class part time and work part time in order to afford it. I am hoping to be done in 2014. I can assure you that on the day of my convocation there will be no amount of money that could convince me to trade my degree in!:goodvibes

I never graduated college. I worked my tail off in high school to get multiple full scholarships so I was actually making money by attending, but after the first year I hated it and left. One of the best decisions I ever made :thumbsup2. I left to start my own business and I love it. I did a stint at WDW as a CM and quickly found out I didn't like being an employee either, so back to my business I went. I think I'm just too independent.

The line "you dropped a hundred and fifty grand on an education you coulda' picked up for a dollar fifty in late charges at the Public Library" from Good Will Hunting pretty much sums up my view of college. If you want to learn there is nothing stopping you from reading a book on your own.

That being said, while college wasn't right for me, I think it's fine if other people value it so highly. Graduating does show hard work and dedication and if you know you want to go into a field that requires a degree than college is the way to go. I just don't think college is right for everyone.

They could have back my useless history degree, the worthless piece of paper it is printed on and all the experiences I had while getting it. In exchange I'll take my money and my youth back so that I could be a lot smarter with my choices. But I'm not bitter or anything.:rolleyes1 Just really wish I had gotten a degree in a useful, marketable field. All I knew was I wanted to do "something" with history. I was such a doofus.

the worth of my college education, to me, didn't come out of books. none of my professors have ever lectured from a book. the book complements what i learn in my classes. you could buy all my text books for a fraction of my tuition, but thats not what the "lump sum" of my education comes from. :confused3

of the hundred thousand dollars spent on my 3 degrees. I am worth every penny of it and I did all the work:) It is by far the best money I have ever spent!
