Would you consider this fine art?

Umm.. is it you?

It is pop -inspired. Note I did not call it art either.

Fine popular art is something like a Warhol, Pollack or even Paik. (or is it Piak? I always get the vowels transposed.)

Not to me - I do find it odd that you pop in every couple of months, asking only about disney artwork. :confused3

the only qualification that will prove whether it is or not...

Is the selling price!

IMHO No. It's not fine art. It's graphic design that could be considered a form of art. Art is completely subjective though. One person's art is another person's eyesore.

I wouldn't call it "fine art", but I like it and believe it has it's place in the art world. Not being "fine art" doesn't diminish it's value, just it's classification.

He did lots of stuff for Disneyland's 50th. I liked it as I do this stuff.

It mostly reminds me of Mary Blair's work.

Not fine art. Disneyana.

I love those Shag prints. I have one from Tomorrow Land and I love it. As for art, it's subjective. Everyone has a different opinion as to what makes real art. But for me I would say this is art.

Art? Yes. Definately. Talented Artist? Yes. Definately.

Fine Art? No.
This is my idea of Fine Art:
Rembrandt link

To me, fine art is awe inspiring...there is a catch in my throat when I view it...a need to whisper in it's presence, almost.

I think art is very subjective, though. (To each his/her own kind of thing) Obviously, Rembrandt is my favorite...hands down. The man was a genuis! Bellini, Carravaggio (sp?), Monet, Renoir, Van Gogh, & Emily Farmer are some others I enjoy. (Yes, I prefer portraits and landscapes to abstracts & surrealism. Even though there are a couple of abstracts I really like & am finding myself drawn to Kush's surrealism stuff more and more).

Perhaps, I am a snob when it comes to Graphic Art. I appreciate the beauty of the piece, the amount of work, the inspiration...the entire process. However, I am more awed by the artist who conveyed emotion not only by color...but by actual brushstroke technique.
jmo.

Definitely not.

I do like Shag's stuff, though. It's fun and retro, and I really like Disney and Tiki things so his work appeals to me. I wouldn't call it "Fine Art" at all. Maybe pop art or just graphic design.

No. Absolutely not.

Nice graphic design work, though.
