Would you buy at the GFV?

We have relatives that equate formal and uppity. We used china for our Easter dinner, and that was uppity to them.
To me uppity means arrogant, conceited, cocky, or self important. I hope that the OP did not mean it in this way, because I think that would be an unfair way to categorize guests of the GF.

I hope not either. Some people might think that staying at the GF itself is uppity since it's outrageously expensive. ($3k-$22k a week)

I say, more power to ya!

I'm hoping it's true. We already have 250 pts at BLT. I would try to get a small contract for the same use year as I have now.
Nancy :yay:

We would add on at Poly as well...We will stay at GF we really like GF but as a few have said holding for Poly...Not alot of points probably enough for 3-4 nights a year. Will depend on incentives timing and theming as well. Shawnpirate:

Oh yes. I would buy at the GF. I would also but at the Poly. :lmao: I am sooo addicted. This is a sickness.

I for one love the Grand Floridian, always have. Never have understood the uppity comments. I really wish I could. The building is elegant maybe that means snooty to some, I honestly don't know.

I figure, anyone can be comfortable anywhere. We don't have big money but we have friends that do. Just attended a $500,000 wedding, was I uncomfortable, absolutely not.

Will I be comfortbable at DVC Grand Floridian, you bet. :thumbsup2

As to the BLT comment, BLT is having definite issues with the quality of the materials selected holding up well under use. Very bad choice on the part of DVC management to select these products especically when they were warned they would not wear well. :sad2:

I wouldn't buy GF, nor BLT. But when they open one at the Poly, DH will have to hold me back :rotfl:

If there really is a GFV coming, would you buy there instead of BLT?

Personally, I love the BLT decor, and GF does absolutely nothing for me. (I know that BLT does nothing for many either.)

I guess I'm wondering how many people want monorail/MK access, but don't like BLT, but would jump on GFV if they were offered? (assuming pricing were similar and GFV wasn't outrageous.)

No I wouldn't buy GFV.....I like to visit GF during holiday time or for dinner....but I have no desire to stay there.....of course I said that about BLT....and I am trying 1 night in April for my DD....her birthday wish....LOL..

we would buy enough to bank and borrow for a stay every other year. We own at BCV and at AKV and we would use the GF points for our adult only get-a-ways:woohoo:

I would love to buy at the GV but we are comfortable with the number of points we have now. Perhaps several years down the road we can...I am really looking forward to staying there though! We stayed at the GV 15 years ago in the Big Pine Key building, and recently had breakfast at the Grand Floridian Cafe. The lobby is such a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the atomosphere. Plus, Citricos is one of my favorite restaurants on Disney property. It would be nice to have a short walk there.

I am not looking to buy anywhere but a DVC at the GF or Poly would be more attractive to me than BLT.

I love the atmosphere and decor of GF - have spent much time for meals, shopping, walking the grounds and catching the monorail. It's the only Disney hotel we have not stayed in, and hubby and I would like to stay there for an adult only trip (that is a dream since we have not been alone since our DD was born almost 8 years ago!).

That being said, we would not buy there as I am assuming the point cost would be astronomical. Would probably not stay there either as I'm assuming the points per night would also be crazy high!

We love the Contemporary and said if DVC was built there, we would buy, but we didn't buy BLT because too expensive and too many points to stay there. Once reality set in, we realized it's just too darn expensive, and since we always have our own car, we don't mind driving a few minutes to the resorts.

I think GF DVC would probably be very pretty, and can't wait to see it. We aren't buying anymore points, as we can't sell any of our points, as we would take a big loss for our SSR due to high CDN exchange rate in 2004 when we bought.

Happy GF wishes to all of you hoping for a DVC resort over there! Tiger

I don't understand the stuffy or uppity comments either, because it reminds me of an Embassy Suites courtyard crossed with generic Marriott decor. It's nice, but it could just as easily be a nice Embassy Suites in Secaucus, NJ.

My main reason for not caring for it is that I don't think the theme of "old-fashioned, understated elegance" is well executed. It's based on the Hotel Del Coronado, but is just the most pale facsimile, in my opinion, and lacks the true elegance of that hotel, much less the true 5-star hotels out there. So, since it fails to hit the theme for us, we don't care for it.

That having been said, many people love it, and I think it would sell very well. That's the great thing about Disney; something for everybody and every taste!

DH and I were just talking about this tonight - IF GFV actually happens we will absolutely buy there.

While I'm very happy with my 420 SSR points, I can say that I would love to try GFV but not purchase there. I took a tour and saw the BLT rooms and I did not like them one bit. I would love to stay at the GF and may even use my points one day to do so in a room.

I own DVC and a 3 bedroom at Orange Lake Country Club and, for me, I don't have any desire to stay at BLT. When we saw the room, my teens both thought it reminded them of the Jetsons cartoon and, for me, the furniture looked like IKEA. But, to each his own. That is why we all have so many choices. Thank goodness we didn't all like the same thing or none of us would be able to book, even at 11 months LOL

It would depend on price and incentives. I have a feeling the price per point is going to be rediculous

Who cares what the price is... you might get a founding member tile! :rotfl2:

:lmao::thumbsup2
A Rusty 1 at that!! It will go great with the Victorian theme!:rotfl:

I love Victorian theming. I always wanted a Victorian style home. Ann Arbor has some gorgeous ones! That's why I like SSR so much. I would definitely stay at GF but I have enough points at resorts I love and I would not want to pay twice as much to own there.
