Just asking....

Throughout the World Showcase, what food items are recommended to try?

What's this snow cone like?

Just interested because I want to try as much worldwide food as possible.

Stop in the pastry shop in France just before illuminations and get an apple tart and cappucinno. mmmmmm my fav.

I have been hearing alot about the rice cream in Norway and that is on my list for next week.

Have fun!!!!

The Napoleans in France are wonderful too. They are not at all like what you get in other places.

The French bakery is great. The snow cone you refer to-Is it kaki gori? That's in Japan.

The Japan CS is fantastic, and can give you a good taste of Japan. Also the fish n' chips in UK is great (and I don't usually like fish, so it must be good).

another good CS for a taste of the world is in Morrocco, you could split one of the platters there.

Try sharing things in each country and eat around the world.

The Kaki Goris are one of my husband's favorites in the summer. I believe they come in three or four different flavors and also have a combo one. The stand is in between the pagoda style building in Japan and the funnel cake stand in America. Funnel cakes are another good snack item, although don't get one if it's windy or you'll be covered in powdered sugar. I would have suggested fortune cookies from the Lotus Blossom Cafe in China but they've replaced those with almond cookies. The egg rolls there are a favorite of mine.

The incredible shrinking rice cream is wonderful in Norway's bakery...I say shrinking as we have watched the size get smaller and smaller over the years... taste is great though.

I like eating at Teppanyaki in the Japan pavillion.. good food, cooked in front of you on huge grills that you sit around with others who are visiting the restaurant, and the chef entertains you while he cooks..

I like Alfredo's for dinner, it is a bit rowdy with entertainment, food is decent Italian..

Good take out in Mexico, and even better frozen margaritas..

Fish and Chips takeaway is good too outside the pub in England..

Desserts in the French bakery are always good as well, ham and cheese croissants... also there is a crepe stand near the French pavillion which is good.

the german restaurant in the biergartin is great !!! it is a buffet..they have entertainment too...... :thumbsup2

Just keep in mind that the restaurants around the World Showcase lagoon vary with regard to how authentic they are with respect to the national cuisine they're supposed to be representing. Some of it is toned down, for American tastes, while some of it isn't.

FWIW, I am most looking forward to shawarma served at the Tangierine Cafe in Morocco. FWIR, a great number of people now consider it the best CS available at the World Showcase. My own favorite, in terms of recognizably "worldwide" cuisine, is the red cabbage and sausage at Biergarten, the escargots at Chefs de France, and the occasions when Rose and Crown serves curry.

Another vote for teh Napoleans in France! I had that when we were there and it was DELICOUS!! My DH and my boy had the chocolate cake from there, and I tried a bite. GREAT, but very rich! Don't pass up this place! It is fabulous!!

Is it possible that my Napolean from the French bakery was dried out and kind of stale tasting because we bought it really late in the evening - probably close to 9pm. :confused3

I've always heard how great they were, and I was very disappointed. However, it could be due to the fact that they were almost a day old by that point.

I may have to try again in the morning. :thumbsup2

My DD7 tried kaki gori (snow cone) for the first time this May, and it was delicious!

I agree that Tangierine Cafe has the best CS in the WS, and the shawarma platters are really delicious. I tried Norway's rice cream during the F&WF and it was better than the best rice pudding I've ever tasted.

The crepes in France are very good. The gelato in Italy is also quite good (we tasted the pistachio and chocolate). We also make it a point to share a funnel cake from the American pavilion during every trip. I tasted the Rose & Crown curry to which bicker is referring on our most recent trip, and I thought it was very tasty.

:sunny:

Right then...

So the Mrs and I shall have to go for the snow cone, rice cream and the funnel cake.

Thanks Peeps! :thumbsup2

You must try the German pretzel! Its the most delicious pretzel you will ever eat and I never go to epcot w/out getting one. Also, the chocolate mousse in France is the best I've ever had.

Mexico-churro
Norway-school bread
Germany-chocolate covered cashew cluster or German Chocolate Cookie
China-fried wontons in a bag
Italy-cannoli
United States-funnel cake
Japan-kaki gori
Morroco-lamb/chicken swarma platter and balava
France-Napoleon
United Kingdom-any of their chocolate candies
Canada-maple candy

Cheese soup and pretzel bread in Canada. Filet Mignon is good there too. Any pastry in France. School bread in Norway. Biergarten in Germany. Nine Dragons in China, but stick with Honey Sesame Chicken there. San Angel is hit or miss in Mexico.

For counter service we really like the frosted almond pretzel in Norway, pretzel in Germany, cherry kaki-gori in Japan, chocolate mousse in France, & turkey bagel sandwich in the U.S.

Table service favorites are the filet mignon in Canada & the Biergarten buffet in Germany.

I haven't tried too many things around the WS... hoping to get in a bunch of that in October during F&WF.

However, the bakery in France is wonderful. I don't remember the names of what we had... but it was yummy... I do recall confectioners sugar all over the place though... :goodvibes

The egg rolls in China were yummy.

I didn't care for it, but my mom and DP enjoyed the Margharitas in Mexico.

I'm going to have to put together a list from some of these items in this post and make sure I try them! :thumbsup2
