Working on Weight Loss During Training—New Year New Us!

Awwww Shucks... Thanks. We actually had a great wedding, nightmare reception!! But AWESOME honeymoon since we went to WDW! The reception, well it was one for the books... CRAZYJEN take note... Our DJ for the dance was arrested an hour before the reception for attempted murder of his girlfriend. Our wedding was going to be his alibi, but the person he hired to do the deed got cold feet and turned the guy in. Our DJ was the Programming Manager at a big radio station in our area. Quite a scandel! At the airport we got the newspaper and read all about it on our way to WDW. Made for a rotten reception, but now it is a GREAT story to tell people.

Cam - AWESOME for staying within calories. I am so proud of you. I had some "extra" time last night and turned on Celebrity Fit Club for some very odd reason. It gave me a little motivation to make better choices for myself, because only I can do that!!!

Dave - Your speed walking it close to my run/walk speed. If we "ran" together, we would be playing "tag your it" back and forth!!!

Someone want to give me a kick in the butt (and/or some pixie dust(?)). I've been struggling on and off on the healthy eating (though I have stayed on a slight loss side). I was regularly walking about 1 to 1.5 miles 3 times a week (plus physical therapy for hip replacements and back). Today has been tough as yesterday I noticed my lower right leg was tender and looking a little red in spots. After picking up a hospital infection with one of the hip replacements, I called my doctors out of an abundance of caution. (REALLY don't want to lose the right hip again.) Good news, no blood clots in leg (I didn't think so, but that was the first thing they checked). Bad news, I'm back on more antibiotics for the suspected infection in my leg. I think I first try to sabatoge myself from succeeding and then when I think I might have straightened myself out, He wants to make sure I am really ready.

This preparation for the 2008 Donald is becoming quite a personal challenge, and I haven't even started any long training yet. Sorry for the long post and personal rant. After giving the leg a little down time, I will be back on the treadmill/road and (hoping I don't lose control tonight if I start analyzing things too much) healthy eating will start again tomorrow too.

Jen- :scared1: that is some story! Thank God he got caught before anything bad happened. That stinks that you didn't have any music at your reception though. But on the bright side, you don't have any murderer DJs in your wedding photos either

I love Celebrity Fit Club! My favorite was from a season or two ago when Willie Ames came to the door and completely freaked out because they came to his house to make him exercise!! :happytv:

nepatsfan73 - hang in there!

Jen - Wow! And I thought I was the one who always had all the drama!

Ok, and just cuz I can't help it... :teeth:
Floridian_Us_messageboards.jpg

I know it's a far away shot, but you get the idea.
(I have one of us with Mickey & Minnie at our reception, but it's gone from photobucket :confused3 )

I was not so great in the eating dept. today. But I have a good excuse. Today's is Chad's birthday, so after work I met him, Zack & my niece Hailey at the Rainforest Cafe for lunch to celebrate. VOLCANO!!!

Hi All,

Just wanted to get a super quick post in now, hopefully I'll get to do more later today.

I ran 3 miles yesterday before work. I should get on the bike this afternoon, we will see. I'm hoping not to be totally whipped after a day at work, but we shall see. It promises to be a mentally challenging day. I should spend my entire day writing, and that always takes alot out of me.

Everyone hang in there and have an awesome day!
Maria

Hi Everyone,

Day 4 on "the streak" went well. I had a meeting where there was some pretty good food. I had saved several points so that I could have something to eat. I stuck with lots of salsa and a few tortilla chips. It felt good to pass up the sweet stuff. Luckily I was busy taking notes at the meeting, so I was too busy to snack much. :cool1:

Cam how did it go? Hope you were able to stay on track.

Jen- Yikes!! I'm glad you can laugh about your DJ now. Nice picture.

Kristi: Thanks for sharing your picture. It looks beautiful. I have to see if I can scan my wedding picture. It was back before we had a digital camera, so I don't have any on the computer. Good luck getting back on track today.

NEPats Fan: Take care of your leg! Good luck and pixie dust :wizard: for eating healthy.

Dave: I'm sure you'll do the WISH team proud in your race. :)

CrazySecretRecipe: Good luck vs. the snack attack. Just try to have some healthy snacks around so at least you give yourself a treat. I eat at least 8 times a day. Breakfast, 2 morning snacks, lunch, 2 afternoon snacks, dinner and dessert. That way I'm never too hungry. Good luck. :)

Have a good day everyone.

Cindy

Good morning, everyone! I thought of you all last night when I was deciding what to eat at a pizza and burgers joint that was doing a 1/2 price burger special! On the way to my SO meeting, I ate 1/2 banana and an apple, so that I wasn't starving around the pizza they had there. Then, Howard and I went to a decompression session sponsored by his MBA program student council at the burger & pizza joint. I ate popcorn and ordered a grilled chicken with lettuce & tomato & ate my fries with malt vinegar. Not too bad. When I got home I had 2 100-calorie chocolates, however. I over-estimated calories on the kaiser roll, probably, and on the fries and came out to 1535 calories. My fourth day within or below sparkpeople recommended calorie range of 1200-1550. :yay:

Food plan for today:
B: coffee w/skim milk; honey nut shredded wheat w/skim milk; multi-vitamin
L: green salad; apple; banana

Tonight will be another tough one -- a charity dinner/dance/auction at DS's school. I doubt there will be any healthy options at all. If I am good all day, though, I should have about 1000 calories or so to play with tonight. I just HAVE to avoid any desserts/sweets there.

Kristi -- gorgeous picture! Howard is pretty insistent that our vow renewal in 2 years will be at the wedding gazebo at GF. I am hoping we might visit the various venues during marathon week next year to see what the options are. But that picture is stunning and certainly has me nearly convinced!

I'm starting to feel like the fire is relit. I have eaten very well the last two days and my workouts are going great.

Breakfast: Special K with banana and skim milk, coffee, water

Lunch: Box of Birds Eye, steam in the microwave veggies with a small can of drained tuna mixed in.

Lunch 2: Wendy's salad and baked potato, chilli hot sauce and pepper on the potato, fat free french on the salad.

Dinner: Box of veggies and tuna like at lunch.

Workout: Treadmill intervals. 4 x 220 at 10 mpm pace and rest intervals at 15 mpm pace, one 220 at 8:34 mpm pace.

Recommittment is going great, i'm getting my grove and confidence back. I call that part of us that we call on when the going gets tough my inner beast. I think my inner beast is a great white or a wolf. Erica says my inner beast is a guppy.

Have a great day everyone.

Dave:hippie:

Good morning!

Kristi- great picture! Your red hair and white dress look amazing against the GF background!

Cindy- thanks for the tip. I do try to bring healthy snacks to work, like LF mozzarella sticks or LF yogurt. The trick is to eat only the snacks I bring, and not the junk at the office. :thumbsup2

I'm doing okay food and exercise-wise. We had our Admin Assistant lunch yesterday because lots of people were out of the office on Wednesday. Luckily for me it was Chinese food and it all had meat in it, so I wasn't tempted. And for the first time ever there was no :cake:! I was disappointed about that, but really I don't need it. Did 3.1 mi. yesterday in 30 min and 4 mi today in 41 min.

Keep up the good work everybody!

Thanks, guys! :goodvibes

:offtopic:
Cam - About 6 or 7 months before our wedding, we did a long weekend at WDW to scout locations. We were trying to avoid the wedding pavilion near GF since they charge an extra arm & leg to use it - but it is beautiful. That's why we got married on the beach at GF (now the pool). It only cost $5 per rental chair or something like that. You can also have a wedding at any country in Epcot before WS opening at 11am. We were considering the gardens in Canada. There are TONS of options since you can get married practically anywhere at WDW. I'm sure Judy could give you lots of ideas too.

Sorry, I digressed guys!

Back OT: I have done just ok today. Very tired & the peanut m&ms in the vending machine were calling to me. It's ok though. I know they are 5 pts. and I will count them. I drank 24 oz. of water so far. I haven't been getting in all my water & usually only have 12oz. at work. I am ahead of the game there.

Hi Everyone,

Cam, Good for you for making the right dinner choices. It's hard to pass up 1/2 price!! I'm glad you thought of us and it helped. I think it is making a big difference to me knowing someone is listening to how I'm doing. Good luck with your dinner/dance. Maybe you just have to earn extra calories with a lot of dancing.

Maria, Hope your day didn't wipe you out too much.

Kristi, Good for you for getting your water in. I'm not always very good about that. I'm really trying this week so I'm totally hydrated for my race this weekend.

Dave, I'm glad your inner guppy is helping you get back on track. :)

CrazySecretRecipe, I know what you mean about the treats at work, it does make it hard. Luckily we have such seagulls that if I can hold off on taking anything for an hour or so, all the treats are gone. Good for you for getting your workouts in.

I don't work on Fri. so I'm home with my 2 yo girls. I was very worried that it would be much harder for me to choose wisely with lots of yummy stuff in the house, but I managed to stick with the healthy food then treated myself to the 100 cal packs of Little Bites Brownies. They are so good!!

Have a good night everyone.

Cindy

Cindy dear that is my inner wolf or great white, not inner Guppy. Have you been talking to Erica?

Still doing good with my eating, hoping it's under control now and I can start seeing results.

Have a great evening guys.

Dave:hippie:

I woke to a rainy windy day so I headed off to the mall o walk. After making a .8 mile lap, the sun came out. I took my act out into the fresh air. The temp was perfect about 55 degrees, the clouds were wild and beautiful, the sun shining through was like a bibical picture. I did a nice 3 miles in the sun in 36:43, not blistering but I felt like I could go for ever.

Then I steamed veggies for lunch in the microwave and while opening the can of tuna to mix in I squirted tuna necture all over me. That was delightful. I wipped it off but the darn lab keeps following me around and trying to lick my tummy. Off to the shower as soon as I finish this post.

Cindy, I was letting my inner wolf take over this morning and just effortlessly float along the road.:flower3:

I had a minivan nearly run over me this morning, how dare I be crossing the road that is the entry to WalMart. The couple in the van acted like it was my fault, I suppose the fact that I was in a crosswalk and had the walk signal on the light would have swang the judge to rule in my favor in court.

Everyone is doing great, and I dear friends have lost a pound, Yep I Rock! Hey it's a big darn deal, I have been watching the scale go the other way for a while, a drop was exciting. Yea Baby!

Ok I'll be slinking off to de-tuna now so I can go to work.

Have a great day y'all.

Dave:hippie:

Good Morning!

I hope everyone is feeling hopeful and strong on this Sunday morning. Yesterday I did 4 miles for the first time! It felt great. I'm going for 4.25 next weekend. In between, I have to do a better job of the non-running workouts. That's a goal for this week. I'm also hoping to firmly do better with eating. I had some breakthroughs last week, and I need to keep them going and expand.

Dave -- Congratulations on your loss! It is a huge deal when you get a glimmer of hope from the scale!:goodvibes

Cindy -- I do much better on work days. I only pack things and portions I should eat, so that makes it alot easier. It sound like you did great!:thumbsup2

Kristi -- I guess I am blessed that we don't have vending machines at work...and I'm on the 4th floor of a building that does not have an elevator...It's not worth it to go downstairs and cross the street for a snack:rotfl:

Jennifer -- My boss has been in China for the last 3 weeks, so we're taking our admin out sometime next month. There are only three of us, so we will each order our own food. That helps, somewhat.

Cam -- It sounds like your eating is great! All those veggies and fruits! I'm hoping for a week like yours. :woohoo:

Cindy -- Are you still on your streak? If you keep it up your going to have to call it a habit, a trend, and then a way of life!

nepatsfan -- How do you like our first draft choice? :upsidedow Seriously, hang in there, because it will get better.

Jen -- Oh my goodness! You have a wedding story that could be a Reno911 episode! I'm so glad you can look back and smile.

Everyone have a fantastic day, and let's hit the ground running!:cloud9:

Hey there Minnie, sounds like you have your mind set and ready to make it happen. Go, Go, Go:banana: :cheer2:

Rest day for me, time to start focusing on final week taper for the Pig next sunday.

Dave:hippie:

Dave - Crongratulations for getting back on track and for losing that pound! At this point, I can only dream of walking as fast as you. Heck, I can only dream of running that fast.

Kristi and Jen - great pics! Thanks for sharing - and the wacky stories.

Minnie - Good luck on phase 1 of the SB diet. Hang in there. It was tough for me.

Cindy - I like those 100 calorie snack packs. I try to buy them when they are on sale. I guess I need to just make my own and save even more money but I'm just too darn lazy.

nepatsfan - you don't need a kick in the butt. Just a minor setback. Don't worry - you still have plenty of time to train for the half. You can do it!

Maria - :cool1: on the 4 miles. I can remember when 3 miles was out of reach for me....and it wasn't that long ago. Keep up the good work.

Cam - good for you for sticking to your plan. I need to go to that site. Something you mentioned earlier is something I really need to work on - eating the right combo of protein, carbs and fat every time I eat.

CrazySecretRecipe - wow - you are fast. As for cake - this is a big weakness of mine. If it's around, I will eat it. As hard as I try, I just can't say no to cake. So, if you are anything like me, it's a good thing it wasn't around. :upsidedow

I'm really trying to eat healthier. I'm an emotional eater and lately I've been very emotional....not really sure why. I've been crying at the dumbest things - commercials, sad news on TV, my neighbor's new kittens, etc. I'm kinda thinking it may be a female thing. :crazy Anyway, my snacking had been getting out of control but I"m starting to reign in the impulse of grabbing food. Instead of chips or other snacks, I've purchased carrots to eat. I'm trying to dring more fluids - a big weakness of mine. We'll see how it goes.

Hope everyone has a good week ahead. Never give up!

Susie, recognizing what you have to work on is half the battle. You can do it lady. My new mantra when the going gets tough is "Rise Above It". I'm trying to get my eating under control also. I'm doing pretty good. Gained a pound back because of late buffett dinner at company meeting. I didn't do my usual go back for seconds thing though.

I'm heading off to do a 10 mile walk with my lady. We have the Flying Pig Half next week in Cincinnati this coming weekend.

Walk strong, eat healthy and be happy dear WISH team.

Dave:hippie:

Hello Everyone,

Tomorrow is weigh-in day so I'm being extra careful today to count every calorie.

Dave: Oops, that was completely a typo I meant inner wolf, really.;) Congrats on not going back for seconds at the buffet. That's an accomplishment. Hope your walk went well today.

Maria: Yes, I'm still on my streak - 7 days. Thanks for asking. Saturday I was carbo-loading for my race the next day so I did go one point over for the day, but I had extra points from the previous day, so I think that still counts as staying on plan. I bought WW at home 5 yrs ago and have since lost a few of the parts of it, so I'm winging the things I don't remember. I'm not sure of how many points I can carry over, and if I don't use them for the week do I lose them? We'll see if I get good results this week and if so I'll try to continue what I'm doing.

Minnie: Goodluck with SB. Those first couple weeks are tough.

Susie: I agree I should package my own 100 cal snacks, but it's so much more convenient to buy them. I saw the Nabisco ones were on sale at Target this week for $1.88. Good luck with your healthy eating efforts.

Have a great day everyone.

Cindy

Morning Cindy. Yes walk went wonderfully. I'm getting ready to head out for a nice 4 miler on the most beautiful morning you can imagine. Life is good.

Everyone find your smile today and keep it there.
