Should they match the inside of your house? The outside? The trim?

We have bought the faux wood blinds from Lowes. Go for the ones that are made by LEVOLOR they are not much more expensive and are guaranteed. The lesser expensive ones turn yellow and become very britlle, yes we learned the hard way.
I worked in a home store when I was in college and all the blind reps. say to match your blinds to the outside of the house, and to choose a nutral color like white or alabaster.
Hope this helps.

I've matched my blinds to the trim in my house -- off-white. The outside of my house is brick with dark taupe trim. That would be pretty ugly inside -- especially in dd's nursery!!

We've always matched the blinds to the trim-usually an off-white color. Outside trim is a sand beige. SIL has the faux wooden blinds for 3 years now, they haven't yellowed, but they sure are heavy to open and close. Think I heard that the real ones are a bit lighter in weight?

We have some real wood blinds and faux wood blinds and the faux blinds look really FAKE. JCPenney online actually usually has a good deal on wood blinds. Match your blinds to the room they are in. Why would someone tell you to match them to the outside of your house. If we had done that, we would have white blinds against all the wood trim in our house inside. It would have looked terrible.

Personally, I like the nice big white or off white blinds. If you are going with the whites or the creams, get the faux wood. They will be easier to clean. If you are getting a wood grain (brown) blind, get the real stuff.

I like the white blinds. Off white would be good too if it looks better in your house. If they match the paint in your house--outside or inside, then you will have to change your blinds when you paint again.

I purchased some faux wood blinds from Kmart.com & they were wonderful (& not too expensive either) -- I would highly recommend them!

In this new house we got the faux wood. I love them. My house here is very "woody" and white would have been out of place. I also decorate in the neutral earthtone colors.
My other house we had gotten the white. White is really a good choice if you are a "contemporary" decorator, like you choose "color" as opposed to the rustic neutrals.

We bought the Faux Wood plantation blinds from Lowe's. They were inexpensive and I like the look of them. I got white to match my trim inside my house.

We got the real wood blinds--our home has red oak floors, so we matched them to the floors.

We have white faux wood blinds. They match the trim inside of our house but also look great from outside. We ordered from http://www.justblinds.com and were very pleased with the quality and price. Their customer service is also A+ (they overnighted us new blinds after UPS delivered our blinds to the wrong door and couldn't track them down). You can also order free samples of their wood and faux wood blinds to see the different styles (and colors) before you order.

Good luck! :flower:

These are the windows we want to get wood blinds for.

We want the blinds to match the chairrail and the wood windowsills.
