WONDERous adventures on the Panama Canal - 4/23/17

...including today! ;)

I have a good packing list for the Caribbean cruises, but I'm wondering what else I need to add specifically for the Canal cruise. I feel I need really lightweight clothing for Canal day, but what else do you recommend?

The day we went thru the canal was a rainy dreary sort of day and DCL provided us with Mickey ponchos to wear to help keep dry. No charge.

Ok totally random thing here - Happy Donald Duck Day :donald:

Now on to the serious question. Last week there was a thread here about what shots were needed for the PC cruise and I thought none, but maybe I am wrong. Anyone know if we need any shots?

We didn't do any shots before we went. I haven't looked at that thread though to see what shots they say are required.

Hello @donald'sdarling and @Shoshie ! pirate:

The only shots I got, I threw back. :drinking1:drinking1:drinking1:drinking1

I didn't think we needed any medical shots that required a doctor's visit, but the drinking :drinking1of medicinal shots is suggested:laughing:

:listen: Did someone say :drinking1?

Past couple weeks have flown by... Been testing ornament exchange ideas and then visiting @wilma-bride and @Linda67 for some pre-cruise planning (and mebbe some :drinking1). Now to focus on finding decent airfare for this cruise. So many sales right now but nothing especially good so far for our flight to MCO.

How is your husband's surgery recovery coming along, @ohMom ? Does he need PT?

Now I know who the party crowd is! I haven't looked at airfare for awhile, maybe I will check again this weekend as I just can't decide if I want to wait for Southwest or not:rolleyes1

We love to go to the adult show after dinner too!

Thanks for asking, DH is recovering very well as far what my expectations would be. The sling is driving him bonkers. He started PT this week and will continue for six weeks, pretty intensive but he will need to recover range of motion has hasn't had for several years.

We booked our flight to Orlando. I need to check if delta is opened up now to may 7. I was not pleased with the options I saw from delta or southwest for our return. How early is safe for San Diego? I've read that the airport is really close? Of course I don't want to step off the ship until I'm forced off! We will have late seating

I think I've found my ornament idea on Pinterest! Now to figure out my recipe

Mediinal shots are always a good idea - got to protect the immune system ;)

It was such a great break for us and lovely to see you and Rich :) I was looking at airfare myself yesterday - and the day before and the day before and the day before. I am so torn between whether to fly home infirect form San Diego or direct from LAX.

Hardly the party crowd - but definitely like a drink or two :drinking1:drinking1

I plan on being in the former Wavebands every night till they shut the bar down.

We looked for you a couple of nights there on the 2015 cruise but the odd night we were up late, the place was dead! I mean, literally, we walked through there one night and the bar tenders were the only people in there.

I turn into a pumpkin at ten. I'll miss you...

That is me most nights - occasionally, I make it past midnight but it's rare. I am usually up early to walk before breakfast too.

I like to hang out there too. Usually by myself since my husband is also an early to bed kind of guy.

We are normally in the adult areas somewhere later on in the evenings.

We love to go to the adult show after dinner too!

Glad to hear hubby is recovering well.

I am actually looking at an 11am flight out of SD to Atlanta at the moment. I am pretty certain we can make it in plenty of time if I skip breakfast and walk off the ship with my luggage. However, if you intend to take breakfast on that last morning and will be in no hurry to get off, I wouldn't book anything before midday from SD. Although we were off the ship by 9.15 last time, it took almost an hour to get a cab at the port.

We're doing the bus round trip, just don't feel like renting a car or standing in line for a taxi. Private transfers worked out to the same cost in PC and I love getting my vacation started early with a Disney bus:earboy2:

I agree! I think we will be trying our first experience with DCL transfers from WDW resort (the Poly) to port. We've cruised enough that we don't need to be on the ship ASAP anymore, and we can apparently schedule meet-n-greets online... So let's check into an empty terminal, walk right on the ship, put our luggage in our room and head to lunch... We'll give that a shot. And then we can schedule champagne tasting, if we don't have an organized class yet!

Good morning, fellow Wonder-ous Adventurers. :sail:

Definitely needs to recover enough range of motion to raise a pint by sail away! :drinking1:rotfl2:

That flight is definitely tempting for us as well. I think I'd have booked it by now if the prices weren't so outrageous at the moment. :scared: Hope they come down a little over the next few months.

The pre-booking meets is really a fantastic idea on DCL's part. I'm glad to see they are utilizing the cruise planner for more and more. It would be nice if they offered this for the beverage tastings as well, wouldn't it? pirate:
