Is this shoe appropriate for a professional office environment?

Of course. Boy, was I expecting something totally different!

Well, I voted yes, but.....my DD is an assistant manager at a large hotel and the dress code is: business suits and NO open toe shoes! Dunno why...

The open toe is the iffy part--it really depends on how conservative the office in question is.

Unless there is a rule against open toe shoes (and I know some work places do have them), I see nothing wrong/weird/unusual about that shoe. It would be totally fine where I work.

I'm sort of disappointed! I was expecting to see some weird, crazy shoe and it's just a normal pump. Is it the open toe you're concerned about? I've known some workplaces that only permitted closed-toe shoes, but barring a rule like that I can't imagine those shoes would be considered inappropriate in any office environment.

The open toe is what would make it possibly questionable.

I think it is appropriate but a few companies I worked for had no open shoe policies. So it would depend on the company policy.

I don't find it offensive and think it looks fine from a professional standpoint but if there is a rule against open toe shoes, then there is a rule against open toe shoes.

I don't find ir offensive but I think sometimes it is easier to make blanket rules than to make rules about toenail polish and hiding any fungus and not wearing open toes if you will be in the kitchen. .

I think the shoe is fine and I don't understand any dress code which would say it is not appropriate.

Now, the dress code should also say that if you do wear open toed shoes then you should make sure your toes are well groomed.

Where I am, where temperatures over around 100 degrees and 90%+ humidity are not uncommon for many months of the year, I even wear dress sandals to work.

It seems to me that someone needs to wake up and join the 21st century where showing toes and a heel over 2 inches is not obscene.

FTR: Our dress code policy varies from office to office (of which there are many) so sandals (dressy - not beach sandals or flip flops) are ok in my office. The overall dress code guidelines do not prohibit open toed shoes nor does it specify a limitation on heel height. But, apparently, the lady that gave the dress code presentation wants all women to dress like nuns and said that this shoe (actually the picture of the one she showed had a heel only about 2 inches high) is not professional and she would not wear it. What's funny is that in the online presentation, she asked the participants to vote whether the shoe was professional or not and the VAST majority said it was.

Only if the pedicure was like 3 months over due...lol! But seriously it's a black leather peep toe heel. Why is it not appropriate?

Usually if open shoes are not allowed its because of a safety issue not an aesthetic one. That said, the shoe looks perfectly fine to me..

I was expecting something like this:

While I agree that the shoe is professional, it's much easier for an HR department to say "no open-toed shoes," than for them to do a daily review of people's footwear. What if no one notices for 6-months, and then someone's cited for bad toe nails?

I've learned just to do what they say to do, and wear what I want when I'm home. No big deal.

We've had that rule anywhere that would require office staff to walk through the factory or warehouse, but not at facilities that were office only.
