Usually it's a safety thing. I worked for a bank a while back and they banned them after some one dropped a bag of pennies on her foot breaking her big toe.

I voted yes, but that's assuming that there is not a policy in place that speaks otherwise (no pumps, or no open toes) Usually if a compay has a policy in place its either a saftey one or a logistics one, but my philiphosy, is I dont' have to understand the rules, I just have to KNOW them & then I can deceide if it's worth it to me to follow them or work elsewhere.
