'Wonder'ful Ship of Fools-We're Crusin' in April(15-22)

In case anyone is interested: Target has some fun Disney Stuff in their dollar section: also picked up some discounted Valentine Cards with disney pencils.
Got a big sun hat for $2.50 (my daughter got a pink one)

We only have 54 days to go! I'm very excited about the cruise. Is anyone going to Disney on Sat before the Cruise?

I wish!!!!! Unfortunately we can't make it this time.
I booked excursions (in case anyone is interested)...
in PV, the outdoor adventure.
In Cabo the first day, the camel and outback adventure and in Cabo the second day, the dolphin swim.
I hope we get more people in this group soon! Though a smaller number for fish extenders does make it easier... but the more the merrier! :jester:

Hey guys ^_^

So DH and I are keeping an eye on this cruise ... depending on how our taxes pan out.

We'll be doing them sometime this week (I know, so late!!!) and will find out if we can do this or not :)

Cross your fingers!!

Hope it works out! Love tax returns! Let us know when you do! Best of luck!

Awe, it turns out we can't go on this cruise cause the prices went back up :(

We decided to stay on the ship while in PV. The 1st day in Cabo We will be swimming with the dolphins. We took the 1145a time. Think we are going to play the 2nd day by ear. My son's health will depend on any other port adventures as well. We go in for a lot of testing on Friday, and hope for results by Tues. That way we can plan a little more!

52 days... as you can tell I'm not counting or anything!:cool1:

Doing the Yelapa & Majahuitas in PV ... was trying to see about doing Cabo Resort Beach Getaway but not going through Disney found that i could save almost half.
found a fun image I thought we could use if you want me to pm it out you?

So I recieved my "package" from Disney today (which I thought would be coming in March) and all it was, was a small broucher with our name, confirmation name and a small packing suggestion list. --- Is that all or will more be coming?

You should be receiving a small spiral bound booklet with all your info together in one place, as well as some luggage stickers to put on your checked bags so they can deliver them to your room. Is that what you received?
It will have your room number in it as well as dining time, flight info, ship contact info etc. That will be all you will probably receive I think, but you'll need to take that with you in addition to passports (or passport cards which will work for getting on and off the ship in Mexico) and your signed completed online registration.

There is internet on the ship but it is very slow and very expensive (it adds up quickly when it is so slow). There are internet cafes in port that are less expensive (according to a crew member last time) but is still slow (she uses it to face time with her family). Cell reception works in port but not necessarily on the ship. Look into what your provider has for international and make sure you keep your phone off when not in use so you don't come home to some shocking bills. They provide a ship telephone number and like any hotel, have phones in each room that you can have messages left on. I'd make sure I was giving out that number to those who should be able to reach you in case of whatever at home. Seriously, by the time you pay for the time it takes to check your email daily, you could get a massage or two for the same money and much less frustration waiting for pages to load! It may be a good week to practice not being as plugged in to the rest of the world!

Other big tip is to think twice about giving kids charging privileges on their room keys. They can get all the food and drinks and snacks (and goodies) they want without it. But, the arcade costs extra and I've heard of kids racking up tidy sum buying tokens (I heard of one kid who went through 100. in just over an hour). Also, my son misplaced his room key toward the last day and borrowed mine. I gave him an amount for the arcade but apparently someone else grabbed my card and bought another 50. worth of tokens (so he said). They can also buy candy and other stuff in the shops with the cards. I kept charging privileges to the adults. My kids ordered room service which didn't cost extra, but tipping was desired which they didn't understand at the time.

Last few helpful (hopefully!) tips... bring a power strip for charging cameras, iPads, phones etc., there is limited outlets in each room other than in the bathrooms. There are hair dryers are in the bathroom but are a little wimpy, so if that's an issue bring your own. There is at least one laundry room on board where you can also buy detergent and fabric sheets. You can use your room key to buy the supplies and the time on the washing machines and clothes dryers (found the dryers needed to be run a few times to really dry the clothing though). There is an iron and ironing board and sink in the laundry room as well. Last time one of the two laundry rooms was out of commission and they can be popular later in the cruise. If you have a room with a verandah, you can put wet stuff out to dry pretty securely (unless it is a windy day) and that helps dry swim suits as well.

Ok, that was a major brain dumping of info. Hope it helps!!
!
Oh, one last thing... older kids in the Oceaneers Lab/Club can be given privileges to check themselves in and out if you like. The Edge and teen club already has that available for kids. There are two wave phones in each room that can be used to contact each other (I carried one and left the other in the room for my kids to share and leave there if they were looking for me). The wave phones are free (as long as you don't lose them) and there are no roaming charges like your might find with using your own cell phone.
My kids (ages 10 and 12) loved having the independence of doing why they wanted and just having to check in with me at some point during the day and before dinner. The Edge and teen club activities can go late into the night but they are also encouraged to eat (late night swim and pizza etc.).

Good luck on your test results! We've also had a difficult couple of years so this will truly be a vacation for relaxing and celebrating being together!

No that's not what I recieved so I will be getting another package at the end of march ...we should all actually:). This must have been a precurser.
Thanks for the info about the internet ... wasn't really planning to bring my laptop but just incase.
so are we still only at 3 families for this trip?

They have computers in their internet lounge that you can use, you just pay for the internet.
I'm sure there is a full cruise ship ready to go, it's just that not many have discovered this group. Wish there was a way to advertise it and increase participation!

Kathy you are wonderful to have so much information to pass on to us.
I am sure we will end up with more getting involved with the FE's . Are we all really getting excited to go????
:banana::banana:

I learned a lot ahead of time from people in that discussion group, happy to pass along what I learned!
I hope more people join the group, but no matter what it will be a great trip and we can start getting more serious about the FE's as it gets a little closer and we know how many kids there will be and people participating in it.
BTW, I'm not adverse to my kids getting candy (in reasonable amounts). Nothing should have to cost too much or take up too much precious luggage space!
Another idea is pins for trading, there will be pin trading opportunities with the crew at some points during the cruise.

I Got my Fish Extender Fabric today!!! Now I just need to figure out how to make it:)
I picked up a few things from Party City today that were on sale ... i actually found something for a 16 yr. old:) and I think there are currently 5 adult women right? Cause I found something cute for us as well:)
I think so far if it's one gift each time ... i'm at one gift every other night (at least for the boys:) don't know what to do for the dads though.
My girls are into pin trading but have only a few that they want to trade right now ... and purchasing on ebay always seems dicy and going through disney is expensive, but I think they each have a least two to trade.

We had so much fun making our fish extenders! We put tabs on the tops of them to put them on the dowl.

You are so sweet to go out of your way for my teen. We have mom & grandma, no dad, in our rooms!

With our rooms, It might be really late when we get our room numbers, if I don't get it in time to post I will make a card to give everyone at our meeting spot!

Can't believe that we are only 48 days away. I've started wondering if I need to take a vacation to get ready for this vacation! Though I think our pirate costumes are almost completed! So excited for this trip!

Hello,

We booked this cruise last minute a couple of weeks ago. We have 3 cabins and 10 people in all. It is me (Sophia), DH (Rich) and our 3 kids; my brother-in-law, sister-in-law and their daughter; and my father-in-law and mother-in-law (good thing I get along with my in-laws :))

This will be the first Disney cruise for my in-laws. We did the Alaska cruise last August and fell in love with DCL. BIL & SIL live in CA so this is perfect for them. We are in MA and FIL/MIL are in FL so this is a bit of a family reunion!

So what have I missed. :surfweb:

Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Sophia

Welcome to the group! Looking forward to having you all join us on the cruise!
Let us know if you are interested in participating in the Fish Extenders with several of us (you can go through previous posts or even look it up in Wikipedia)!
Looking forward to a wonderful vacation!!!!
:yay:
