Most of the people that have posted on this thread have rescheduled to different cruises.

Maybe flash654, MontanaDJ and I will have the ship to ourselves!

Seriously, anyone else going on this cruise?

This will be the fourth cruise for our family. The other 3 we're all Disney and on the Magic. Two Eastern Caribbean and one Western. This will be our first time on the west coast.

We'll be flying out of Boston on Friday night, JetBlue. So we need to find a place to stay for 2 nights and decide whether or not to rent a car. Then pick excursions. Has anyone done this cruise before? Any suggestions?

It will be me, my wife and our 15 year old son.

So the vacation is paid for and now comes the anticipation of all the things to come. My girls (10 & 7) are excited and nervous and want to know if any other kids out there want to meet? Any tips is always welcome

We are booked, and I can't stop smiling!! My family of 4 will have 2 rooms, and space because 9 & 16 don't get along very well for 1 week straight.
We chose 2nd seating!

My 9yo boy has had a lot of medical problems this past year and this was the trip he wanted to go on!
The16yo is a teen girl... She turns 16 in March and will be helping dive to the port! Wish me luck there!

Don't know where are rooms will be just yet, but I don't know that I'm going to get much sleep between now and there if I don't calm down a bit!

Thanks all. I think I'm more excited then the kids! Those links have been very helpful thanks for posting them in here. I'm still trying to decided if we are going to stay at Disneyland the night before or if we should dirve to the port! I did our online check in & got the 1100-1130 time!

If anyone is interested in doing Fish Extenders, let me know!
I have two boys (ages 10 and 12) and I am bringing a friend with me as well!

I'm excited to see some more young boys going! This is the trip that my 9yo son wanted to do. We were just going to do Disneyland... But we are all so excited to go on this trip!!

Will you be driving down? We live just north of Reno, Nevada! Look like you are only a few hours away from us!

Glad to have you on our cruise! As for the fishing thing.... Sorry, I don't like fish at all! That is why we will be doing the mammal thing, and swimming with the dolphins, which I'm only doing because I'm a mother and at 9 Evan can't do it by himself...

Hi! We are flying in and out of San Jose (where we live nearby). The more kids the merrier!
The fish extenders are like Christmas stockings that are hung from the decorative fish outside the cabin doors. It's a gift exchange program for the kids that sometimes people participate in during the cruise! You can look up info on it on wikipedia to find out more! But, it only works if more than one person is doing it! The other fun thing to do is decorate the cabin door with magnetized fun stuff! You can use magnets on the cabin doors but not tape or anything else.
I haven't checked out the excursions yet, still waiting for the reservation # from the travel agent!

Haha! Okay I'm a total dork! That is a neat idea! I'll be in with my 2 kids! That would be a lot of fun! With this is there a specific day to deliver or just anytime through out the cruise?

What other small things like this should I be prepared for? Everyday that I look at our vacation I find more and more exciting things!!

we did the canopy zip line tour in PV that we set up through the travel agent and it was really fun! This time I'm setting up our excursions through Disney because there were issues with changes to the itinerary and not making some of the ones I had planned and paid for.

I'm still pretty new to the fish extenders thing, we were late getting in the chat room and so we did a very limited exchange with just one other family (though very generous people included us when they had extra stuff!). I did it as almost a daily thing but I really think it is dictated by how many people are participating. Some people left things just a few times, some were almost daily.
You can go on ebay and buy fish extender kits, I made mine with felt and a glue gun (it looks passable). Basically it is something to hang that has pockets in it with the kid's names that are big enough for people to leave small gifts/ treats in them.
I'm hoping more people will want to get involved and get in this chat group, and that people with a lot of experience can clarify how it's generally done! In the meantime I'll see what else I can find out about them and post again. My biggest issue is how to do it without using too much of our luggage space since we are flying!

I'm not sure about the fish extenders --- my husband thinks making magnets for the door is crazy enough --- but my 10 yr. old girl is looking to make friends on the cruise or pre cruise so let me know if your son is intersted (i know at this age it's tricky to know if they want to even hang out with a girl). But just to know a name to look for in the club area would probably be nice. let me know
