'Wonder'ful Ship of Fools-We're Crusin' in April(15-22)

When I told my mother about the Fish Extenders, and my silly comments she is so excited about it. She has looked online, and has so many ideas to do for them.
HeartNSoul, my Son's name is Evan. He will be in the kids area a lot I'm sure. He is only 9, but is only 5 inches shorter than I am... He is very out going. Most of his personal friends are girls! He gets along with all age groups. He recently received a rare childhood diagnosis. He had surgery on the 20th of Jan and now hasn't skipped a beat! So by April he will probably be a kick in the pants again. He loves to entertain. I don't know where our stateroom is yet, but will let you know as soon as I do!

My 10 year old's name is Trevor. I'll get our room number to you another time!
We'll be decorating our cabin door again and doing fish extenders with anyone else who is interested!
Trevor has friends that are girls as well, most of it is about what they have in common! Other than the typical boy stuff (hockey, baseball and video games), he also loves animals and music. Maybe they can find some common ground!:woohoo:

I'm not sure about the fish extenders --- my husband thinks making magnets for the door is crazy enough --- but my 10 yr. old girl is looking to make friends on the cruise or pre cruise so let me know if your son is intersted (i know at this age it's tricky to know if they want to even hang out with a girl). But just to know a name to look for in the club area would probably be nice. let me know:)

We'll do fish extenders with you if you'd like! We can wait another month to see if anyone else joins the group and wants to do the fish extenders, then we can finalize things! Sounds like this is a well deserved vacation for both if you!!;)

Sounds Great Caitlyn is glad to hear about other kids her age:) now is the fish extenders a thing that the kids do? or the adults? both? the idea is to get a list of fellow travlers and ages and choose small party favor stuff? Still learning what it's all about:)

Yes our whole family is ready for vacation at this point. Waiting a month sounds perfect to see if we have more people! I did notice on other cruises they have the cruise meet link and under it the FE link.

Yeah I don't see one for this cruise. So far I've caluclated 3 Families going (including mine) but i don't know how many in each group. I think I'm the only one with girls so far:) So I would be doing at least 4? boy Gifts? And I was wondering are you suppose to give a gift each day? or one on the just the first day or on the day of themed night?

I actually have 1 boy 1 girl. My girl will be 16. If it's just the 6 kids I will plan on getting something for everyday, even if it is a small item or candy... If we get up to 20 I will probably curb it back to a few days. I will also be thinking of the packing situation, which isn't an issue for my family as we will be driving down.

I guess it is time I say Hi to everyone. I am Grandma and I am goinhg on my first cruise with my Daughter SJLV her son and my Grandaughter who will have just turned 16. I am excited about the fish extenders and keep asking my daughter if we should post a link to fish extenders with a sign up to see if we can get more people involved.
We can copy from another cruise and just put it here can we not?
Do we have to have permission from Disney?
Any one know?

Great to know sjlnv:) glad to know more girls :)
I was thinking about doing something possibly for every other night at least ... dont' know our rotation or anything yet so i don't know which nights are formal or semi or pirate but I was thinking at least something cool for those nights ...
I also wanted to mention that I saw other groups wore something that gave others the signal that they were DIS people (I think it was a green ribbon or something) did we all want to do that

Hi Leisjan1 nice of you to join us ... This is our first cruise as well so I'm not sure how to answer your questions but i don't think you need Disney permission to do the extenders (in-fact apparently most crew members are aware that it occurs). I do think we need have our group finalized at least a week before leaving with room numbers exchanged so we can hit up the doors:)

Fish Extenders can only be exchanged between people on the same ship at the same time, so unless there are other groups for this same trip, I don't think it would help to post about it elsewhere. We drop off the items ourselves and have access to only our ship.
Disney is used to people doing this as well as decorating the doors with magnetic items.
I think doing it for 4-5 days would be fine if we kept it light and the gifts small (like stickers, erasers, magnets, candy (unless someone specifically objects), notepads etc. basically fun inexpensive small stuff like you'd find in the dollar aisle at Target or on clearance in packages. Many people used small cellophane bags with ribbon. The kids were just happy to find small things in their pockets. With girls I'd also add flavored lip balm, lotion. Other ideas are fun shoelaces. People have done really cute homemade items like velcroed straps to go on luggage handles for comfort and easier identification, homemade Disney magnets etc.
I'll start the count below for kid's names, ages and state rooms and we can add as we go until a few weeks before.

At the other Disney cruise I went on, there was a meeting attempted the first day for those who participated in the discussion group. A few people made it. It was the day we embarked at 3:30 PM in the lounge. Only issue might be that everybody may not be on the ship by then. At 4 PM they have their safety drill then first seating for dinner is at 5 something. Does anyone have the first seating for dinner? Or a later embark time close to 3 PM?:confused3

I saw that green ribbon idea. That way if you are in the port of LA at the same time you can pick people out! Thought that was neat!

We have the 11-1130 check in, so we could do a meet up at any point!

For Fish Extenders I have....
Brittani 16 (we don't have room #s yet. Will post as soon as I know)
And
Evan 9
We will be in 2 different rooms! LeisJan is my mother & Brittani will be in the room with her!

We have late seating and don't know check in time yet (where do you find that out or request it? ) our plane lands at 9:30 (into LBG) so we should be getting to the terminal around 11:00 at the latest.

Update: okay our check in time is 1:30 -didn't realize it was based on when I actually put in my CC# info or i would have gotten an earlier time :( But the lady on the phone said if we got in early that it maybe possible to board ealier if the lines were not long.
and unless anyone knows of a grocery store within walking distance of the port (want to buy bottles of water) I guess we will be sitting around trying to catch some zzzz :)

now did we want to do an identification signal (green ribbon or maybe Cheshire Cat Pink) let me know:)

Caitlyn 10
Alexis 7 (will be 8 in may)
Then there's the Husband and Me:) (mid 30's) Cabin number I believe is 1074 (1st deck)

So Kathy since you are the expert here I take it you will be collecting all the names and then mailing out the complete list at the beginning of April? TY in advance for doing this :)

Hi,
sure, I will keep track of names and room numbers for fish extenders!

BTW, our check in is 3:30 even though we will be there much earlier, and my travel agent said even though it couldn't be changed, that they may take people earlier if they show up. As I recall, we arrived, took a number and waited for that group to be called. I don't think I even knew what our check in time would be. It wasn't too long a wait!

I'm all for wearing ribbons but we can also meet somewhere as well. Last time there was a safety drill at 4-4:30ish then there were activities not to be missed not long after (like a raffle for free spa services, I won an acupuncture treatment!). Since people have different dinner seating times (first or second), we could try to meet in between the two around 7:45 PM in the lounge on the day we embark (Sunday). Just a thought!

Can hardly wait!!!
