Wk Of Sept 22 - WISH Walking/Running Club

Greetings Racing Team -

This morning I did 3 miles on the TM. I dialed it back to 3.8 @ 1%, since I'm "saving myself" for Sunday. "It's either a PR or the ER!" Right, Dave? ;)

Speaking of saving myself, I'm considering doing "The Great Pumpkin Run" which is a four-miler, but the problem is, it's on October 21st. Do you think that's too close to the ToT 13K? :confused3 I guess it depends on how I do it. I don't think I'd go all out, but if I consider it a training run.....I'll have to think about that. It sure sounds like fun though.

Anne - Please be specific when identifying the pregnant ladies in the front row. I could very easily be mistaken for one of them. :rolleyes2

Hold on just a minute! You mean WWDave was three people behind me and I did not know? I didn't even meet him! Geez. How'd THAT happen??? :upsidedow

Judy, is that good looking woman you in black next to that mischevious Cam? And just who is the little balding guy koala hugging my arm?

I recognize Cam from pictures, I remember Anne and Tiger Lily. Is the big guy towering above the others Vic, or is he a midget standing on someones shoulders?

DAve:hippie:

Names, please! If you're in the photo, identify yourself....I don't know anyone!

Lourodrigis – New shoes and a new Garmin? Fun! Great job on the 12.5 miles.

Heather – Sorry about the stonker!

Kim – Good luck on your half this weekend! Can’t wait to hear about it!

Jen in GA – Great job on the 3 and 9 milers! The humidity was at 100%? Madness!

Renee – Glad the hip is feeling better.

Stacey – :wizard: for your shoulder!

Kristi – WTG on the 4 miles!

DH and I took a rest day yesterday. Planning for 2 miles tonight after work.

Quick training report: Shoulder felt much better when I woke up (thanks to DH saying that I should try putting more air in my side of the bed- we have a sleep # bed). Simple things mean alot!

So I got going and got outside. it was 27 degrees! I haven't bought long tights yet, just capri tights, so guess what I was wearing? I got in 3 miles.

Which lead to the question: for those of you in colder climates, do you layer? Like tights & pants? Or are tights warm enough for you?

Yes, that's me, in the black shirt with the green WISH name tag, next to Cam, who is next to Krista, who is behind Steve, and in front of me is Lisa, and on the other side of me is Lynnda and next to her is Heather and behind Lynnda is Bill and next to him and behind me (hiding) is my DH Charlie who is next to Howard.

 I don't know about the "good looking woman" part.

It really depends on the kind of tights you have. The coldest I have run in is probably 20F or so (but I'm sure that will change this year...). I have some Sugoi tights which are great on their own and I don't need to layer. I also have a pair of Adidas tights that even when layered with long johns underneath aren't warm at all. I have some Under Armour ColdGear running tights, but these aren't as warm, or as nice as the Sugoi ones I have found. I definitely prefer tights over pants (despite the appearance factor) just because they do keep you warmer. I find your legs tend to stay warm well enough since they are moving, but the upper body requires more layering.

Check out the video at the following link for some ideas (and it is entertaining to boot...)

And if you need some tips on socks - I love love love smartwool socks, plus Injini makes their toe socks in a wool blend as well that you can get at REI. These are all great for winter running and keeping your tootsies warm.

I'm in the back row next to Lily. Don't you recognize me? I'm giving you the "You're #1" sign. :confused3 :rotfl:

Stacey - 27 degrees?! Ok, killer frogs or not, I am moving to FL someday! It's actually going to be around 90 degrees here today - lovin' it!

Judy - Just do it! :thumbsup2

I am so sad that I had to leave before the picture at Pop. :sad1:

I'M NEXT TO BIG VIC!!!!! Right side of him. Colleen is next to me. I do believe that I may be the good looking one that WWDave is speaking of! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I did a 1/4 of a mile with DD4 who after 2 minutes had a tantrum and we had to walk home. She wanted to "run" with mom and then decided that was too much work. I then went back out and did a speedy for me 2.2 miles with dog. I know I was faster than normal because the dog was slacking at 2 miles. She's a big baby, yet intimidating enough when I run alone. I just love her, but she will be 8 this fall and is definately slowing down.

Oh and a Head's Up.... the Rump Roast Run is this weekend. I still have to sign up but I think I will do the 10K to get in more miles. I may be DLF tho since less people and more speedy people do the 10K!!!!

I KNEW when I posted that picture, that someone was going to want ID's!! :rotfl2: It's now done and posted! I had only 2 question marks, so if anyone can tell me who they are, I'll fix it. :)

Great putting faces to the names out there.

Can't wait to meet you all.

Kim

Excercise update:

- Fit ball last night and it was a tough class. My legs are tired....
- 1.43 mi after fit ball in 18:06 (12:37/mi)
- 4.5 mi over lunch today in 48:03 (10:41/mi)

Hockey game tonight! I will probably try to run over lunch tomorrow as well, then yoga in the evening.

BTW - KIM - Best of luck on your first ever half this weekend. I know you'll do terrific. Have fun out there!

He moved into the koi pond this summer - he can stay as long as he follows the rules....I won't bother him IF he won't bother me. So far he has stayed in the pond, not sure what frogs do to survive winter, I guess time will tell.

Just keep the squirrels away, now those are vicious animals!!
