Wk of May 6--WISH Walking/Running Club

Stephanie[/B]- Congratulations to you too on your great Minnie time. WTG! Maybe you and Angie can help pull Steve and I to a 4 hour full marathon in January (if I can get there).

Are we already talking about pacing groups for Jan?????:rotfl:

Morning team! Back to real life this morning. But, gonna get a workout in this morning. I have that "graduation" 5K on Sat. so can't slack off now!

Dave--Umm, 4hr marathon???? I'm flatterred! But I refuse to be tied to anyone!;) :rotfl2:

Sorry I don't have pictures to share with ya'll. I have a couple from the meet and then one of DH and I to prove that we actually spent time together! But Cam and Anne were so great taking pictures--I didn't need to take any. I plan on hijacking their's! Have a great day all! Happy Training!

Good morning TEAM!!!! I love reading all the Minnie race reports and seeing all the pictures. It sounds like you all had a great time, despite the heat. Yesterday was a rest day for both Stephen and I. It was so weird, we both came home after work, ate dinner, and looked at each other like "what do we do now?":confused3 . My legs feel great, they were sore yesterday, probably because I didn't take an ice bath after the Pig, but they feel great today and my IT band doesn't hurt at all. My plan was to walk a couple of miles this evening, but I think my legs feel good enough to try running. Of course I'll run slow and probably do like 2/2 and ease back in. We are leaving for WDW bright and early Friday morning (our flight leaves at 8:00), so I have to finish up the laundry and get packing!! It feels like this trip snuck up on us, we've been so preoccupied with the Flying Pig.

Dave--:lmao: :lmao: The conversation probably went something like that. I'm glad you got home safe and sound and the girls had such a good time with the Cool Aunt.

Angie--Congrats on graduating again! That's awesome and we are so proud of you. What is this engineering ring that you speak of? Stephen has a degree in mechanical engineering (he's getting into system sales now), but he never got a ring. Hmmmm.

HMHunters--I'm so sorry for your loss. :grouphug:

Jackie--What didn't you like about the skirts from Target? I haven't seen them yet, but I'm wondering why your daughter said "um, no". Are they dorky looking? If I get one, should I get one of the more expensive ones online? Oh, and if I run in January, I'm doing the full. Crazy, I know, but I want that 15th anniversary Mickey medal!!!!

Krista--I know this question wasn't directed to me, but the only thing I didn't like about the Target skirt was that it was heavy. I ran in it on Sunday, and the fabric seemed much heavier after I started sweating than my shorts I normally wear. I think the Skirtsports ones are much lighter--I saw them at the expo and will probably order one for my bday. I think the Target one would be better in cooler weather, just not great for heat and humidity

Krista - The skirt looked great on the rack, but when I put it on I suddenly had a pooch that made me look 5 months pregnant. I swear that little pooch wasn't there until I put the skirt on! (Or at least it wasn't quite so visible!) :lmao: And DD was adamant that there was no way she would be seen with me if I wore it in public - that's how "poochy" it made me look! I never even got a chance to consider the fabric, Stephanie!

Two mornings in a row I've turned off the alarm, but I did take Mystic for a 1.5 mile walk last night, so at least I got in a little mileage. And the dog was ecstatic - she hasn't been out with me in ages, and she's made it very known. She was so hyper last weekend we couldn't stand to be around her!

Saturday is my first group run with the Galloway training group, so I absolutely must do some miles before then (although the first scheduled LR with them is only 3 miles - I'm not exactly worried about being able to keep up!)

Jackie

I know, I know, I'm getting swept up in the post-race glow of finishing the Flying Pig 1/2 in under 2 hours. I don't even know if I will be able to run the WDW Full Marathon in January let alone run it in 4 hours. Right now I'm going to rest and recover a little after the half on Sunday, and then I think I'm going to start building in some speedwork into my training. I'd like to keep this half marathon training base I have and get a little bit faster. Then whenever it's time to start the real training for the Full, I'll see where I'm at. How was your mommy day with the girls Christa?

Hi Everyone,

I've really enjoyed reading everyone's reports and seeing the pics.

Mel: Great pictures. It's nice to put names and faces together.

Jackie: I'm interested to hear how the Galloway program goes. Enjoy it. Sorry the Target skirt didn't work. It's nice that your daughter saved you from public embarrassment though.

Bekkiz: Nice job on your long walk.

Jen: Good job on getting the 10 miler in. Sorry it was so hard. Glad the orthotics were OK. To answer your question from last week, yes, my daughters are twins. They turned 2 in January. Double the trouble!!

HMHunters: Sorry for your loss. You still have plenty of time to train for the full, so don't get worried quite yet.

Kelley: Thanks for the link to the shorts. They look nice. Please let us know how they function.

Shan: Good job on the w/o. WTG on the weight loss.

eeyore45: The right shoes definately help. Be sure to go to a running store to have them analyze your stride.

Stephanie: Nice job on your race. Glad you had a good time.

Dave: I like your positive thinking - 4hr marathon. It's a great goal.

I managed to hurt my leg again. This time it's my other quad. I bent down to pick up my DD and when I stood up I felt something pop. I had a 7.5 mi LR planned for yesterday, but decided it was silly to try since it hurt so much. I iced quite a bit and have been taking Alleve so hopefully it will be better in a few days. Since I don't have any races planned in the near future, I know one missed LR won't kill me, but I'm so bummed.

Have a great day everyone.

Cindy

Count me in for those "attempting" to go for a sub-4 hour in January. I'm doing the Columbus marathon in October, so we'll see how that goes, but I'd LOVE to try for a 4 hour in Disney. I realize it's a completely different undertaking than doing a sub-2 hour half, but with some speed work, I really do think I could give it a shot. Maybe we can all tie a rope to Mike (Optimator) and have him drag us along the course. Even pulling 8 or 10 people, I bet he could kick out a 3:50 time or so. :)

Steve

I went on a "Recovery" walk yesterday, not really thinking about pace, just trying to keep it above a stroll :lmao:

I went just under 3 miles in 48 minutes, so around 16:15 mpm. Not bad for not really trying too hard, esp. considering a few weeks ago I was beyond excited for 3 miles in 52 minutes, and I was really pushing myself. Plus it was super warm out (yippie, got a little color on my shoulders. Love it!)

Today is a rest day. I'm very much looking forward to it :rotfl:

Good Morning, WISH team!

We had a fantastic weekend with fellow WISHers at Minnie. It was such fun to be able to contact the Northern contingent to WISH them on. It would have been even better to have been able to personally contact ALL of our team mates that were racing to let them know we were thinking of them!!! No race is bigger than another..we just had more WISHers at two of them. Wow, wasn't it a great WISH racer weekend?? :cool1:

Mouse Skywalker Dave, Is this the same man who was nursing shin splints for months??!!! WOW, Dave!! WOW!! a sub 2 hour 1/2 marathon??!!
Cindylou, Please take care. Don't push too fast, too soon. Even if you don't think you are, you body may be telling you otherwise. Where's Lisa?? She says it so much more eloquently..She'll get on your case, too! ;)
Jackie, Oh, Galloway is going to be great! Let us know all about the good hints he gives out!!
Stephen and Krista, What a reward for a good job on the Pig..a trip to WDW!! Have a blast..you two have earned it!!:woohoo: Krista, so glad that your IT band is not hurting!!
Sara, WOW!!! twenty miles...you go, girl!! Grandma ain't gonna have nuthin' on you! Wow, an Alaska trip..fantastic! Looking forward to a report...AND pictures!! popcorn::
Valentine/Kathy, :wave2: good to see you again! Glad things are settling down and you can join us. Hope to see you at ToT!!:upsidedow
Terii, 54 hours in 4 days??!! Sounds like crosstraining to me! Hope your swog goes well. Glad that you even feel like starting training!! ;)
Jen117, Glad to hear that the orthotics seem to be working for you. 10 miles??!! Doesn't matter how horrible, you got it done!! Great job!! :thumbsup2
HMHunters, Don't worry about your decision for the full. If you think you can, you will succeed!! You NEVER would have contemplated signing up for the full unless you deep down inside felt it was attainable. You've got plenty of time to get your training in. Just get it in!! and keep posting! ;)
Kelley, Now someone was REALLY thinking with those shorts!! Please let us know how they do!
Shan, I hope you took your measurements when you started this! Lots of times the scales don't move, but your body is changing because you are building muscle. Please don't get discouraged, though. Wow, a 12 minute pace!! You are doing very well, indeed! :)

I'll put some pictures on the Race Report thread later. WISHers are the absolute BEST!!! :goodvibes Anne

WOW - I am so impressed with this group!

I went to a running shoe store - and had to get a shoe size LARGER - that hurts (clown feet) but what a huge difference - I got New Balance 895 (I think) definately stabilizes my foot, and the cushion on the ball of my foot is fantastic!!

but I sure feel like a whiner - I hate this - I feel too big to be running, whaet am I thinking? Its hot... and I'm heavy every pound up and down... I got thru 2.54 miles in 35 min... but my mind is really going off on a negative self talk!

I love reading all the excitement from the Minnie, seeing the pictures - I'm trying to stayed focused!! thank you!

OOH Dave, If you go, and I go, then maybe you, Steve, Angie, Stephanie and I can run together. Melissa, is Phil going..he was fun to run with! I am so wanting a sub 4 hour marathon. I think I could have made it this year if it wasn't so hot. BUT NO TYING EACH OTHER UP GUYS! ;)
Dave refresh my memory on the mommy day...you have to know I am a bear with very little brain so I don't remeber!:confused3 :lmao: :confused3

OH, I forgot to post my WO today!
5 miles in 41 min...on the dreadmill! Ave pace was 8:16...but really I started at 7 (9MPM) then pushed it up to 8 on the old Dreadmill!:cool1:

Boy, there's a lot of IFs in that message Christa. Including, IF I go, IF you go, and IF I can get my pace down that far. I'd love to try it though. It is funny though that Steve and I were saying during the Flying Pig half that there's no way we could have kept the pace up for another 13.1 miles. Gotta do that speedwork. Nice job on your dreadmill run. It's so nice here that I can't fathom hopping on a dreadmill. Although, I'm taking a couple days off since the half. I didn't run yesterday, and I don't think I'll train today either.

So I thought you had a mommy day with your girls yesterday. Didn't you say they were home with you? Maybe I misread that...

Sunny - how are you doing out there? Are you in taper mode for the Vermont City Marathon in Burlington yet? I just found out some of my old friends from Middlebury would be running it.

I'm very disappointed in us, WISH team, it's Tuesday afternoon and we're ONLY ON PAGE 4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: ;) :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hi Krista - yeah, but there's only about 3 threads going on at the same time... plus, how many of those Minnie runners are still in Disney? How's your packing going? I must admit I have that feeling after the Flying Pig like I had after the Disney Marathon. I feel a little bit empty not having that big event to train for, and knowing I can get together with my WISH buddies. I need to find that next thing to do.

Dave - If you need an event you can come to Chicago in August and run with the WISH team!!! hint hint!!!!

eeyore45 - Don't fret on the shoes. You must not have been here when I admitted I wear a size 11 running shoe and everyone laughed at me (You know, like in the movie Carrie when the mom says "Everyone is going to laugh at you!"). Well I only wear a 9/9.5 in REAL shoes, but need the extra room in my running shoes. And now with my orthotics, I really need the room because they push my feet forward. So there, you can't be any larger than me!!!! :confused3

Christa - I can try for a sub 4 marathon if you let me ride my bike. I can be the pace car and water girl if you want!!!

Krista - I so thought of you!!! I wore my DH's MP3 player at the gym today because I lost mine (but then found it in my bag where it was supposed to be). Anyway, I was listening to Juicy by Better than Ezra and almost started singing out loud... then I remembered what you said about that guy during the marathon that was singing SexyBack. Bahhhh... that would have made me laugh too!

Today I did 35 minutes on the elliptical at lunch. Tomorrow I hope to hit the indoor track while DD does gymnastics. I am starting to really get concerned about my 1/2 next week. After being off for almost 3 weeks, I don't know if I am ready. I feel less ready than in January. Gahh.... I need some inspiration!!

Oh yeah....they were home with me! We had a great time. I told you I had no brain! We planted flowers and veggies together. They found 15 worms!:scared: They feel like they have new pets....poor worms.
It is nice here too, but I was pressed for time and ran right b/4 I picked up DDs from school.
And Dave, you only need to do 9mpm to get a sub 4! That is 3:59!:lmao: We can do that for 26.2 miles...if it isn't hot. If I go. If you go. If Steve, Angie, and Stephanie dare to run with us. If, If, If....;)

OH! I know she will be mad b/c I am telling you guys b/4 she does...but BREE SIGNED UP FOR THE WDW 08 MARATHON! Ha Ha Ha...I told first!

Hey Everybody!! Not time to catch up with everyone, but I hope everyone is having a great week of training/recovering! It has been awesome reading everyone's race reports from the weekend!!

Not much training for me since my half marathon. My hockey team is in the playoffs and we have had a couple of games, so I guess that counts for XT. I plan on getting in some sort of run tomorrow, as our last playoff game is tonight! Hopefully we win!!!!!

Christa--you can add my DH to that list of ifs! He'll be running with us in January-he'll be the one dragging me along-he was a great motivator this weekend. A sub-4 hr. would be amazing--now I have something to shoot for!

Got a workout today--but yoga, no running. I am just still so tired from this weekend--might have something to do with getting up at 4am, running a 15K, spending the day at Epcot/MK, and staying at Jellyrolls until after midnight. ;)
