Mel, what a GREAT time for your run!! After we finished the 5K we hung around to cheer some of the RUNNERS in the 1/2. I kept thinking.."and this is what Mel is doing..GO, Mel!"
I know most of you don't know..I have cared for my 90 year old mother who has senile dementia for the last five years. If you met her, you would think she was a nice lady..so it's not as bad as some people have it. She's physically healthy, just mentally not there! She doesn't know who I am, wants to go out and get a job..Anyway, I have a companion that comes to stay with her when I have to be gone for a lenghty period of time. I was a little hesitant about signing up for this 5K, because it meant that I had to try and get a companion to come at 6 a.m. on a Sunday, but the company I used said, "No problem." Our first 5K is an hour drive away and the companion is LATE!!!

We had everything in the car, ready to go..so when she did arrive (fortunately, it was someone who has been with my mother before), I just had to briefly talk to her and dash out the door.
We arrived at the race 10 minutes before the start!!!!

Got our warmup walk in going the 1/2 mile from the car to the start, so we were ready. We were NOT the last ones finished!!!

I was trying to do what John Bingham says, and not turn off the GARMIN right at the finish...but like you, Mel..it was a bit AFTER that that I remembered! Managed to do a 15 minute pace (yes, I AM envious of
all of you with your fantastic paces!!), so I'm signing up for Minnie!! Back in January I was struggling with a 17 minute pace..See what all of your encouragement has done??
Dave, you, too, have come a long way from when you first started posting!! Now, just don't push yourself and reactivate those SHIN SPLINTS!!!The race had orange cones in the street to separate the last of the group from those on their way back to the finish. I used those to wog between every so often.
Liz, first..get those blisters taken care of!! Then...COYOTE??!! in Indiana??? Oh, my goodness!!! We saw them often crossing the highway in TX. They looked lean and HUNGRY..glad yours didn't!!

and then
Cam has hawks circling her!! Hawks are ok, Cam..it's the
buzzards you have to watch for!
Minnie so glad that you are able to get back into exercising without PAIN!! You've really had a tough time , and I am just glad for you that maybe now it's over!!
MickeySP, I had to laugh at your post...I have several sheets of paper with "Minnie", "WDW 1/2", "WDW Full," and "
DisneyLand" and everyone's DIS name, real name, state, and AGE (since you all went there!!!

)!!! Waaaay too much time reading this board!!
monte you are doing so good to continue..even when you don't feel well!
louisianagal we'll be cheering for YOU next Saturday!!
