Allie - Congratulations on the 5 miles. It definitely counts as a long run. And as others have said, you should have eaten something beforehand! If I'm going out early, I eat a Luna bar, and then I usually eat a gel every 5 miles (or 1 hour) if I'm going longer than 5. I try to eat something as soon as I'm done, even if it's only a can of V8 (for some reason that's become my favorite recovery drink!)
Debra - May have to check out those NB when I go in for the next fitting. Between my PF and my narrow feet, I know they hate to see me coming. As for the skirts, I think Leana is the resident expert, but there are several who swore by them all last year. I kept looking at the cheap ones in Target, but DD wouldn't let me out of the dressing room. I picked up a Nike one last week and tried it on, then brought it home and modeled it for her and she proclaimed it okay to wear in public! It is truly the most comfortable thing I've ever worn.
Lynnda - Can't believe Timmy is turning one. Where does the time go?
As for my run today, well, it didn't happen. I woke up around 2:00 this morning with a sore throat and couldn't breathe, but I went ahead and got up when the alarm went off and pretended to get ready. Finally decided that I just didn't have it in me, so DH and I took the dog and did a 2.5 mile hike at the nature park instead. Came home and took a 2 hour nap. I can still claim some activity, but there's no way I would have made 10 miles.
