Sounds great. Can you watch Golden Girls while on the dreadmill? :teeth:

ETA: the only exercise I have done since carrying my suitcase in the house is walking to and from the courthouse each day. :( Howard's surgery is tomorrow, so I don't anticipate I will be doing much this weekend either, but will have a gym bag in my car come Monday and will get back in the habit of heading to the Y after work each night. Have to keep up with the big :dog: :dog2: :pug: , you know! ;)

For Howard: :wizard: :goodvibes :wizard: :goodvibes :wizard:

For you: :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: :dog: :dog2: :pug:

Lisa- I am working on emailing WWS also. There were more people in the 1/2 & yet they couldnt be accomodated like those in the full? And the 5k took forever to start with no announcements/eplanations why. I am so glad DS4 decided not to do the kids races. I can't believe those that were trapped on the bus for 2 hours. I would have been throwing a hissy fit. It was bad enough the "contract" bus driver they hired to take us that morning knew less about how to get around WDW then I did. I was about to knock him out of that drivers seat & do it myself. He was lost, spent 20-30 min wandering around.Argh! They should have had specific instructions on how to get where they needed to go. He was just planning on following signs. :rotfl2:

Cam- our prayers are with you & Howard. I know he will recover quickly! :wizard:

Honeibee-so sorry you are having a bad day. Go crawl under those covers, veg out & watch tv. Tomorrow will be better :goodvibes

Sometimes sacral ailments will cause pain in the periformis muscle (sp?)--muscle just above the glute (sort of) and can even cause sciatica if it gets bad enough. Mine did get bad enough that I was getting some sciatica---the muscles near the region of the mild scoliosis were having a hand in that. The tipping--caused increased stress in that area as everything is trying to compensate for the ailment.

I'm wondering if that is why the docs are saying it is a nerve issue.

Lisa It was originally diagnosed as sciatica before the exrays revealed that is was the sacrum causing the problem. Though the DR belives that a nerve is likely pinched or the swelling has caused the sciatica to act up.

I did some research and the symptoms for sacroiliac joint pain match almost exactly to my symptoms. From pain running to around the groin area to running down the leg and rear end.

I called the sports ortho back and asked to be pun on his cancellation list. The receptionist believes that I have a pretty good chance of being seen sooner than my oringinal apt.

I sure hope so! I'm want to get back to training so bad!!!!!

Oh get this Tiff--we waited for the LAST person to cross the finish at the half. The busses that take you to the hotel were COMMANDED by Disney Transportation that they were to cease operation precisely at 2pm. I watched the woman cross the line--went up and said a word of congratulation (funny that the runner's area was no longer secure--I kid you not they were handing me a Mickey medal which I politely refused b/c I didn't take one step in the marathon). Hobbled over to the TNT tent and walked immediately to the busses b/c they were leaving. That woman was probably just getting her photo! This could have been specifically the CBR bus--b/c the other busses hadn't moved just yet--but good grief--if you let someone come in--you better as darn heck sure be ready to transport them to their hotel!

Now wouldn't that suck to finish a marathon--be all joyous that you made it even if you were the last one--to find that busses had stopped...and now you gotta schlep over to the EPCOT busses to get back home?

HOLD THE KEYBOARD!!!

Cam--I thought the poor guy had his surgery last week. I thought he was recovering--now I feel like a fool! Give Howard my best (and did I mention--that he could be a dead ringer for John Bingham--both cuties!).

And make sure he tells everyone in the surgery center about his accomplishment this weekend!

You are right, Lisa -- Emergency surgery on New Year's Eve and another tomorrow with at least one more, maybe 2 after that. He is going to be in agony for the next week or so. I am SOOO glad the surgeon was very sensitive to Howard's desire to get on that plane to Orlando, though he is going to be SHOCKED tomorrow to see Howard's medal.

BTW -- he is a cutie, isn't he? This running thing (his) has all sorts of benefits for me! The only problem is that he is almost too muscular for cozy cuddling sometimes! ;)

Cam - :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: for your poor guy! I know all will go well.

Melissa - I will get DH to down load the pictures. I will send them to you. Ron will also be putting them on the tricharlotte web site. He took tons of us!

I guess I should be training for my upcoming tri...so I did 1 mile run. My JTR stopped at this distance and would not run another step. Then I did a 40 min cycle class from HELL! I can hardly walk. Starting to feel like I am getting a cold. I think this is what DD7.5 had. :crazy2: :scared:

Anyone heard from Sunny?? She was with us at the start. I was so nervous for her b/c I know she was running for time. Anyone know how she did? SUNNY ARE YOU OUT THERE? :cool2:

I know she was at WDW until today, so hopefully we will hear from her tomorrow. You know, I saw her at our WISH breakfast Monday a.m. and she was sporting that gorgeous MICKEY medal and I was so incredibly happy for her, but I don't think I asked her her time. I was just so happy to see that everyone had bright shiny new medals!

The kids races were a fiasco as well and IMHO--they were more concerned about the increased revenue without having a well thought out plan how to handle the corrals and the split days.

Sorry--I still got that chip on my shoulder about it and haven't thought out a well articulated letter to send to WWS just yet regarding the weekend. ;)

I completely agree- my husband took our 7 yo to do the 400 yard dash- while I headed back to the hotel to recover from the half and he said it was horrible. The kids didn't know where to go- and the parents didn't know where to pick the kids up. He said anyone could have walk off with any child they had wanted to- I expected more from Disney in that aspect. I also wished the kids got a shirt- I would have paid more. :worried:

Do any of you guys have pictures of the Dis-shirts- I'm just curious what they looked like....I only remeber one person with a lime green shirt that I thought could have been a disperson.

Thanks!

C

I will say one thing--that technology they use to find everyone will NEVER cease to amaze me. I'm looking for all my TNT buddies just by looking up there names. Some of the pictures--you can hardly see a bib number. Just WOW!

Now they just need to get the half up!

Lisa loves Pooh said:
Well they successfully split the whole--so I'm sure they could have done something. The course was already brand new anyway.

Additionally--the 13,000 from last year was the total for BOTH races. And that was a split start with the full on one side and the half on the other. They followed the same beginnings as the current full course and just stopped when they passed GF and got back to the TTC parking lot.

Additonally--for the full...they officially said it only took 13 minutes. I know this b/c as I was speeding in after my miserable day--they cut the mats off officially at 7:13:00 I finished many seconds later. The half had the same # of corrals, so it roughly had to be the same.

Somebody figured wrong--seeing as they know how many participants they had since they shut down registration and they knew they needed additional corrals.

The kids races were a fiasco as well and IMHO--they were more concerned about the increased revenue without having a well thought out plan how to handle the corrals and the split days.

Sorry--I still got that chip on my shoulder about it and haven't thought out a well articulated letter to send to WWS just yet regarding the weekend. ;)

I feel your pain! What happened last year is still kinda a sore spot around here too! Please do write though and let us know what you hear back.

We had one teammate get swept at mile 8 of the half and no others for the half or full.

I think Disney, after last years sweeping fiasco (big bru-ha-ha outside of MK affecting several of our WISH team in 2005), did an excellent job of communicating the sweeping opportunities.

In discussing with our coaches and staff members--sadly, not all TNT teams are the same and there are some slacker coaches in the bunch. This does not speak for the organization as a whole--but the sweep times are real and our coaches and our staff for Central Florida do an excellent job of communicating the seriousness of this.

Our one person who was swept was devestated--but not so much so b/c she got swept--but then it took the bus longer to reach the finish line than she would have taken walking. 2 hours--no food--ONE powerade or water--no facilities.

So it seems they haven't figured out that dumb sweeping thing in full just yet.

This is VERY BAD!! You think they would've learned from last year!!! UGH!

They did--it was a planned sweep and they did have their choice of *a* powerade or *a* water. :teeth:

It still stinks--and she wasn't bitter that she got swept. She just was not happy that it was the busride to nowhere.

I assumed that the sweeper busses would just follow the route like the bicycles and rescue vehicles. Why send them a special way. Just follow the road and then voila--turn when it's time to go to EPCOT. Just not understanding how this was rocket science. :confused3 Would have taken less than two hours--and they would have at least tied when the last finishers got there. :confused3

I'm of the opinion that 13 years later--Disney is getting too big for its britches on this one.

How hard would it be to give the sweeper bus a police escort? Turn it into a party--have "I got swept" medals. In future years--guests would be competing for the opportunity to collect yet another medal! :cool1:

We got water too..... after waiting in the hot sun for 2 hours and still waiting for the bus! Must be something about the number 2 for WDW?!?!? ;)
You should write and suggest such a celebration- if they did something like this- how could it sour people against the marathon? It wouldn't- it would make them feel important even if they didn't finish.

I saw sunny on Tues night. She said she had a great time. She was going to come home today (i don't know when.)

Honeybee - I did not know about the refilling the bottle thing. I can't imagine what my bike bottles are like BLECK :crazy2:

Honeibee said:
What do you guys think about refilling water bottles? Do you think it's true that bacteria can build up in there and make you sick? Can you fill it up only a couple of times? Do you never refill one? Just wondering as I try to drink as much water as I can every day.

Thanks. :upsidedow

Judy

Hi Judy,
I waited to resond until I spoke to my DH- who is a microbiologist who specilized in sterilization issues for injectable drugs. He laughed. He thought companies printing such things would be more of a "CYA" issues as he put it and also to further urge people to buy water.

Of course you wouldn't want to use the same bottle over and over without washing it- but a few times won't hurt anything or anyone. I would be careful making sure the water didn't sit in the bottle for great lengths of time however- as this would increase the chances of such issues.

Hope this helps.

Cam... :wizard: and  for Howard's surgery tomorrow!

Celeste...happy belated birthday :cake: :bday: !

Maggie...happy belated birthday:cake: :bday:!

I'm working on assembling the list for 2007...just added another page to the spreadsheet ;) . It's a little harder to keep track this year with so many different races that everyone's doing :scratchin . So far, there's 26 of us :grouphug:

Mel, Christa...will you be joining us next year? ::yes::

Anyone hear from Lisa (MickeySP) or Frances? I haven't seen their results posts yet. Seems like Sunny, Carrie and Lily aren't back from WDW yet.

Did anyone on our team get swept?

Cam - Boatloads of :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: for Howard's surgery this week. I will keep you guys in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm hoping to get back to the gym today for a light weight workout. I will attempt my first post-Goofy run in the a.m.

The absolute best part of marathon weekend (besides meeting you all) was that DH gained so much self-confidence and is really inspired to train now for future events. We're signed up for the Disneyland 1/2 and we're debating on who will be running which races at WDW in '07. He said "if I can do that without really training, imagine what I can do if I train for real!!" That is just so exciting for me. The family that runs together stays together :cool1:

Best of luck to everyone on meeting fitness goals this week.

I'm back now! Arrived in Boston yesterday afternoon. I posted my results on the full results thread. I plan to do a detailed report soon. I started it and its about 3 pages long and I haven't even got to the start yet :rotfl2:

Congrats to everyone!
Sunny
