Wk of Feb 4--WISH Walking/Running Club

Speaking of pink, I will pose this question for everyone. Yesterday when doing the laundry, I didn't wash a pink shirt with the rest of the lighter cloths knowing that with my luck everything would be pink afterwards. I was quickly corrected afterwards and told that it wouldn't have done anything to the cloths. So do pink cloths bleed and turn other things pink or not?

Although after mentioning that since I wasn't the expert and thus didn't need to the laundry again, I was laughed at and told I was wrong again. :lmao:

Bill
  OK Bill, I do the laundry in our house, and as I am the only man with two princesses, DD6 princess: and DD9 princess:, I sort the laundry to darks, whites, and pinks. I actually have a whole load of pinks that I can do separately. Sorry, I guess that doesn't help you that much, but if you mail the shirt to me I can do it with our pink load. BTW: there is nothing of mine in the pinks... and it's the load that takes me the longest to fold. So many little dresses, shirts, undies, tights, you get the idea.

Bill

My hubby is obsessive with how I sort clothes.

If it is synthetic--I "usually" don't have any bleeding...i.e. a pink running singlet.

if it is natural fibers...I do think they have a HIGH potential of bleeding.

Is anyone else loving these men doing laundry, wondering about separating clothes? :rotfl:

Just yesterday Chad was asking again if he needed to hang dry my running pants, or if they could go in the dryer. I love it!!!

I loathe laundry, so i'm not joining in on this one. There is just toomuch guilt involved for me!

Abra Cat - I'm a glasses wearer. I wear them for everthing including 24hr races. I have a problem w/ fogging. Cam was gracious enough to let me borrow an anti fog cloth for the marathon. I actually got some Cat Crap - which is supposeed to keep them from fogging, to use for this racing season. I'll have to let everone know how it works

Today I did a 9.5 mile trail run. The trail was still covered w/ snow as were the north facing hillsides. It was very beautiful and i was a little slow! I didn't have my compass so i tried to pretend that i was using the snow as a compass:confused3

Thanks everyone on the weight training advise.

LISA: Ouch, that sounds so painful, hopefully it will be good as new in a day or two.

Mel: WTG 9.5 miles....whew....

CAM: I had people coming into my office asking what I was laughing about when I read your post...Can't wait to meet you.

Scott: WTG on your workout...

Sorry can't catch up the rest, boss is heading towards my office, so glad I have a big window.

Everyone have a great day!!

Kim

Hi all - Abra cat, I train in my glasses but wear contacts for races, not quite sure why, I think it's because I'm vain and don't want my race photos with my specs on. It's quite funny before races as I wander up to people from running club beaming at them and it takes them a second or two to work out who's grinning!!!

Bill: no move keeps moving. Was end of April, but looks like I might have to write book by then so if that's the case it'll be 3rd of May as I can't handle book deadline and emigrating!. I'll get there eventually!

Today, I have my foot bound. Heel contusion looks like its healed, so now we're tackling the planter faciitis issue - now admittedly it's a bit tight, but it's like having a different foot. It's the first time I've not been in pain for four weeks - hooray! Also, if all goes to plan, she thinks I might be able to start running again in 2-3 weeks. Double hooray. Helen

Hi Abra Cat, I bought a pair of prescription sunglasses from Bolle. They have pop out lenses so I can switch them from sunglasses to clear lenses, etc. (I have 4 different lenses). They were not cheap, but I had to wear glasses when I ran too, and I ran into real trouble when I needed sunglasses. The Bolle ones are nice because the little rubber thingys on my ears and nose really adhere to you when your body heats up. They don't slip and bounce like my all the time glasses did.

Mouse Skywalker, would I find Bolle at someplace like Lenscrafters? Thanks for the tip!

MelRhoads, I'm going to guess Cat Crap isn't what I think it is...

littlegreydonkey, I think I'm vain in the opposite way, because I prefer how I look in glasses!

I am just amazed that I had a piece of glass in my foot.

Lisa loves Pooh, maybe I missed it somewhere in the thread, but how on earth did you get a piece of glass in your foot and not know it?!?

Kristi1357, this is amazing to me, because if it weren't for the fact that our washer and dryer is in our kitchen, my husband probably wouldn't even know we had them! By the way, my real name is Kristi, and on some other boards I'm Kristi1972, so I keep seeing your name and wondering when I posted a message!

Wow - another Kristi? Watch out WISHers! :rotfl:

My best friend in Philly is a Kristi too - spelled the same. It's really weird when I try to talk about her. I have to always say 'my friend Kristi' so people don't think I am talking about myself in the third person!

And if I used my birth year, I would be Kristi1971!

Can you say power skim? Forgive the fact that I know just abpout nothgin that happened from Thursday pm to now.

Cam - rotfl about tomenting your toe nails!!!!

Mel - Holy cow! awesome pace! BTWm, mom wanted to know when sarasota is. They went back last Wednesday.

Melissa - There shall eb no guilt if you are the one who did the laundry. I once washed scott's belt, pager and wallet. (And he still leaves his wallet in thhis jeans and leaves them on teh bathroom floor!)

Solo - Where are you???

Angie - Welcome adn awesome pace!!!

Abra Cat - Welcome!!!! lol I frequent a board where someone has my first name as a user name. I am always in a state of confusion.

Cecelia - Thjis is from wayyyyy back, but many just paint the skin. No need fr a nail to paint. ;)

OK, I am going to lose ,my nail. It would not be so bad if I had not discovered this fact when it caught on a sheet gettign into bed. yuck! I guess I shoul dbe grteful that mine don't turn black first. :confused3

Knees - OK, this darn TM accident hurts more as it heals. Scabs on bending places stink. Going to try bending them in a running motion tomorrow. Sadly, it's 6 degrees adn we had about 20 inches of snow over the weekend. I know it will be easier to run in shorts instead of having something rrubbing on my knees, but I relaly don't want to show my face in teh gym again. :(

Carrie - I think i've lost count of the number of times i've washed the wallet!! I was talking to a friend who washed and dried a book last week. It was wrapped up w/ the sheets. I told her all that meant was that at least she washed the sheets!!

Oh laundry:sad2: We each do our own, except my own includes ds6 ad all the towels and sheets:rolleyes: Paul refuses to sort, so no matter what color his clothes start out as, he wears all "industrial gray":rotfl2: I stopped doing DDs when I suspected she was cleaning her room by throwing everything in the hamper... then one time, folded clothes came back in the hamper along with the dirty. That was it for her!

Training today:
TM all 1% except for two hills: 1 6 min @ 2% and 1 8 min @ 2.5%. Consistent 5.2mph (11:32) for teh first 4.5 and then 6.0 (10:00) for the final .5.

total: 5 miles in 57:12 avg pace 11:22, last weeks 5 miler had 2 6 min hills at 2% and avg pace was 12:00. Wooo Hooo.

Tomorrow I see the sports rehab dr. I'm both hopeful and dreading yet more bad news....

Oh and Cam, she's a Podiastrist. and I now have no toe nails on either of my second toes:rotfl2: At least all the black is gone. I don't suppose you can go to see a Pod without showing your toes?

Sunny

Hi friends!:laundy:

Sounds like everyone is having a pretty good start to the week minus a few toenails. My left 2nd toenail turned dark after the 2005 Disney1/2 but it recovered and did not fall off. I'm vain to my toes so I hope I won't lose any for the 15K!

I did my LR this morning of 4.5 miles in 45 minutes! I am super happy to have averaged a 10 minute mile and I'll be thrilled if I finish the Minnie with that time. I'm usually closer to an 11 minute mile.

Happy training!

The million dollar question.

Oddly--I developed this thing on my foot..and it looked the spitten image of a wart--with the black center. So that is what I thought i had (and what a podiatrist friend said it looked like)....and in trying to get some of the dead skin off from treatment today--I saw a teeny something shiny and thought--that can't be right....and then worked on it (ouchy!!!) and produced a piece of glass.

I got my new 205 last Wed. but we've gotten our first snow of the year and the temps are cold so I haven't tried it out yet.

Sunny

I hope you like it. To really get the benefit of it you need to synch it with your computer.

I'm getting ready to run Gasparilla in two weeks and I review my Garmin charts and maps from my last races as a reminder of what my splits were, what I did right, and wrong.

So do we need to start a Man's Laundry Tips thread for the three of us?

I also do laundy, but it's only my own. On 1/1/2006 we made a new house rule, everyone does their own laundry.

DD12 was having way to much laundry for someone who only wears leos. We found she would try something on, not like it, and then throw it in the laundry for Mom. 1/1 solved that because she now does her own.

With DS16 we just made the rule that we could force him to do laundry if he was stinking. So far not a problem.

Laundry and clothing is much easier because they wear what they wash!

Sounds familiar! :lmao:

Finally got my 1st 60 min workout done on my own treadmill. I have attemped twice since I got it on Friday but twice I knocked the emergency stop thing off my clothes so the machine stopped both times at about the 35 min mark and I just couldnt'get back in the groove.

Anyways in 60 min I did 3.92 miles, did anywhere between 3.8 and 4.2 so feel good, now starving so gotta go get a bite to eat.

I will check back later.

Well Team, I went out today for the first time since the 1/2 so long ago, or it seems that way. Technically it was Saturday that I went out first, but my 2 mile goal was a 2 block actual as it was -20 with wind chill. 30 mile gusts sure have a funny way of making you feel very unmotivated, especially when its only 2 degrees to start off. I bundled up today and wore this face mask that covered everything but my eyes and it went rather well. I purchased thermal compression top and bottoms and layered. Still cold in my legs, but tolerable. It was only -11 with the wind chill, but the wind was not as bad.
I don't have a TM and was thinking that maybe I could join a gym as I'll get more use out of it than just using their TM's...but we'll see.
I know I have no leg to stand on griping about the cold as I did not jump into any bodies of water recently. When I read that I thought she could go as "Camsicle" until the Spring Thaw.

scuba diver- I for one wear a hat when I am out walking/running. I used to wear a cotton one for a while until I got a Nike Dri-Fit cap....I love it. It keeps my noggin cool (and my male pattern bald spot unsunburned), as well as keeping the sweat from running into my eyes.

MelRhoads- Let us know how well the Cat Crap works...I need to find something soon as I was using my fleece gloves to wipe off the fog on my glasses every 3-4 steps today. I bought some cleaner wipes that said "Anti-Fog" on the box...didn't work, but my glasses were clean.

Mouse Skywalker- What kind of Bolle glasses do you have? Is there a name/model number? I would love to have a pair of glasses that I could switch out lenses on that are used for activity and will stay in place. Mine will slip, even though they have those silicone nosepads that are supposed to be nonslip, but when I get sweaty enough...forget it.

Good luck to all my WISH Teammates on your upcoming races! :cheer2: :thumbsup2 :cheer2:
I'm signed up for the 5K of the St. Patrick's Day Races on March 17th. I'm planning on running it start to finish, something I've never done. When training for the 1/2 I ran some 2 milers, just to see if I could. I sure hope Punxsutawney Phil was not sandbagging us, I'm ready for Spring.

When ever I read a running story like this....I am so impressed. :worship:

I did not run today because it was 41 degrees. I don't go unless it is close to 50 degrees. You make me feel like such a whimp!!

Sunday I bought a Nike Dri-Fit cap. I think it will do the trick. I'm tired of sweat running into my eye and contacts.
