Wk of Feb 4--WISH Walking/Running Club

Wow, some of you ladies are very lucky!!! You have men that do your laundry and run with you!!! I am so jealous.....I need to work on my DBF!!! :rotfl:

Oh laundry:sad2: We each do our own, except my own includes ds6 ad all the towels and sheets:rolleyes: Paul refuses to sort, so no matter what color his clothes start out as, he wears all "industrial gray":rotfl2: I stopped doing DDs when I suspected she was cleaning her room by throwing everything in the hamper... then one time, folded clothes came back in the hamper along with the dirty. That was it for her! Sunny
Hey Sunny, my princess, DD6 princess:, does that trick too. Cleaning up her room by putting everything in the hamper. I even found dresses on hangers along with the dirty.

Mouse Skywalker- What kind of Bolle glasses do you have? Is there a name/model number? I would love to have a pair of glasses that I could switch out lenses on that are used for activity and will stay in place. Mine will slip, even though they have those silicone nosepads that are supposed to be nonslip, but when I get sweaty enough...forget it.
I needed to look it up, but I think I have the Bolle Vigilante. The Paroles are about the same but a little smaller. I think my store didn't have them when I got mine. I think the Swiftkick are also prescription with interchangable lenses.

OK, quick training post for me. I did 5 miles on the treadmill in 47:28 for 9:29 mpm. Felt pretty good!

Stephanie - Please don't overdo it. Better to take it easy for a few days longer and be a little less prepared than to really injure yourself.

Jen - I can see why you stayed inside. That's WAY TOO COLD!

Judy - Yes, I put you back! I can't run if I don't have someone to talk to, so the removal was only temporary.

Cam - I had to laugh at the idea that your toenails may be smarter than you are! I can't say that I blame them for bailing out on you.

Jim - I completely agree with you - I won't run outside until the temp reaches at least 45, preferably closer to 50.

Melissa - I washed the phone once when it was rolled up in the sheets.

Sunny & Dave - Glad other people have DDs who send folded clothes to be washed too. I was really skeptical too when shorts appeared in the dead of winter and sweatshirts turned up in July.

Gotta go to bed - have a 5:00 appt with the treadmill (and Judy's picture) tomorrow morning. Cross your fingers that the display chooses to work and I can figure out how far I've run, since it looks like it will be a while before I get outside again.

Jackie

Gotta love a man that does laundry!:rotfl:

Lynnda, he is a keeper!

::yes:: I think so, too! I still can't believe he posted that, though!!! It was light pink - not burgundy, red, or hot pink... too funny!!! :lmao:

Anyway, I just wanted to pop in and say Hi! I think I have finally hit the nesting stage - I was a bit worried that it has taken me so long to get motivated this time around, but the baby is coming soon, so no more procrastinating! ;) Needless to say I am SORE!

DH's work is doing an inaugural 5K in a couple weeks, so we all signed up for it today. They have assured me there will be walkers, no time limit, and we can take strollers (so I'll have something to lean on). We shall see... I'll be 33 weeks pregnant!!! :faint: Someone please tell me I'm not completely crazy! The good thing is - it's free and there are lots of kid activities for Billy. If I have to sit it out, no harm done, and the boys will have fun anyway. :thumbsup2

Our other big news of the day is that we got our second 3D/4D ultrasound and the pictures came out really well this time. Yea!!! :cloud9: He's a cutie!! We go back next week for a regular ultrasound to check his size and weight. :goodvibes

Great job on all the training runs! You guys are scaring me with all the toenails falling off, though! I had one purple one after last year's marathon, but it was fine. DH has two black ones and an almost black one from Goofy, but they seem to be holding on tight. I live in sandals and flip flops, so I need my toenails!!!! ;)

Well, I have to go fold another load of laundry. Yup - Bill washes everything, but guess who gets to fold it all... :rotfl:

Happy training!

--Lynnda

Hello Everyone.

Vicki - Excellent pace on your run!

Sunny - Best of luck with the doc.

Kim - Great job on the TM. Keep it up!

Matt - Belated congrats on the weekend double. Something like that really helps build confidence (I'm guessing).

Stephanie - Take it easy on the ankle.

Mel - I'm curious about a previous post asking you about pharmacy school. I thought someone told me at the Pop meet that you are already a pharmacist (and a PA!!). Great time on your run, BTW.

Just a quick 3 miler on the TM for me yesterday. Scheduled to do 5 today. It's supposed to be well digger's butt cold with a big wind. I don't mind too much if I can head out in the afternoon in the sun but probably won't get to run until the evening so it looks like me and Mr. TM will be best friends this week.

I'm hoping my DW isn't reading too close this week. With the amount of running clothes I've been stinking up lately, I'm doomed to be doing my own laundry soon.

It finally stopped raining long enough for me to get out and run last night. Although it was a little on the cool side at 48 degrees with a nice wind. That is a little cool for Florida running. I was able to do 4.8 miles with a 10:12 pace. I think I am almost back to the short run distances I was at before the marathon last month.

Mike - Good luck on the run. Hope it isn't too cold to get outside.

Cam - Good job on the polar dip. You got in much further than I would have. Just think, after a year it won't seem so bad and you will be back again. :rotfl: Much like the WDW marathons. :thumbsup2

DJBounce - I do not envy your temperatures but am highly impressed with your dedication to get out and run in that.

Kim - Good job on getting the workout in.

Melissa - Running on snowy trails. That could be interesting although I don't know if I could do it that long, my feet would probably freeze and fall off.

Helen - Hope your foot issues get better soon. Did you mention that you were writing a book or have I not been paying attention properly.:rolleyes1

Carrie - Hope your healing continues. Although during the super bowl, we thought of you during one of the commercials. It was the one for the razor where the girl was paying too much attention to the guy and flew off the TM. Perhaps you can call them and see if you can get any royalties off it since it sounds too much like your incident.

Sunny - Good luck with the doctor appointment. I hope they can find something positive and figure out a good recovery plan.

Vicki - Good job on the training runs. Your times look great.

Lisa - Ouch!!! I hope that your foot gets better now that the glass is out of it.

Time to get to work and see what was broken after I left yesterday.

Bill

Bill - OMG!!! I didn't watch a lot of teh SB. Sounds like I need to get my attorney to contact RAZR, though! :rotfl:

Yes, my wonderful dh runs with me AND will do the laundry. Not all the time, but he always helps put away, usually helps fold and will do it all if I'm away. He's a little too cautious in teh winter with sweaters. Anything that resembles a sweater (even turtle necks) are put on the rack to dry. Better safe than sorry, though. Yes, he is a keeper.

OK, I'm ging to enter the gym again today. :scared: Think I might even try the little emergency clip, although I'm sure I will end up sdoing something, it'll stop dead on me and I fall on my face.

And if I used my birth year, I would be Kristi1971!

Too funny!

I think i've lost count of the number of times i've washed the wallet!! I was talking to a friend who washed and dried a book last week. It was wrapped up w/ the sheets. I told her all that meant was that at least she washed the sheets!!

I washed our cell phone last summer-- but in my defense, my husband left it in the pocket of his shorts, and I just don't think I need to check the pockets of a 34 year old man (although clearly, I do...). I've washed his wallet and the checkbook a few times, too.

I stopped doing DDs when I suspected she was cleaning her room by throwing everything in the hamper... then one time, folded clothes came back in the hamper along with the dirty. That was it for her!

I don't suppose she's about 9 years old? My 9 year old thinks she's so sneaky!

Hi Kristi, I got mine at Pearle Vision.

Thanks, I'll check them out!

Well, I wound up not getting to the Y yesterday, due to my older kids starting an afterschool program which I totally forgot about and didn't plan around. So, I'm hoping I'll get over there today-- assuming their after school doctor's appointments and today's afterschool club don't interfere... When does Mom get time for herself?!? :rotfl2:

Y'all are KILLING me with the toenail talk! I get nauseous clipping my toenails-- just the thought of losing one (or more!) makes me gag!

I just don't think I need to check the pockets of a 34 year old man
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: You're joking, right?????? ;) I'll let you know when my 36 YO gets out of that habit!

Oh, could we have a moment of silence please......I lost my toenail last night. Then again, I should be good to go by teh time it gest warm enough fo rexposed toes. :p

All this losing toenail stuff reminds me of this time last year. I lost three! They did grow back before sandal season though so have faith.

Am I ever going to be able to run faster? I am so SLOW! I'm doing Couch to 5K and I am up to 2.25 miles but I can't do it any faster than 4.5 which a bit over a 13 minute mile. I tried to take it up to 5.0 (12 minute mile) last night and managed the first interval of .5 miles at that rate but could not keep that up for the two final jogging intervals. It took me 30.30 minutes to do 2.25 miles. I'm hoping that my speed will increase as I get stonger. Please tell me that is the case and that a 30 minute 5K is not out of reach!

I hope everyone has a great day!

Hey Sunny, my princess, DD6 princess:, does that trick too. Cleaning up her room by putting everything in the hamper. I even found dresses on hangers along with the dirty.

Dave, six might be a little young, but my DD was 9 when the folded clothes broke the camels back. I took her down to the W&D and showed her (also posted instructions) how to do it. When I learned neither her nor Dx were measuring the liquid det, I switched to powdered to force them. It's worked out very well, all except the socks. DD is too lazy to sort her socks so she would come in my room and take mine. I caught on so I started hiding my socks. She starting finding them. Then I got real clever and made a "fake" sock drawer with the lousy socks I don't like to wear and hide my "good" socks. She thinks the fake drawer is all I have and now she sorts her own socks. I also have a secret brush, pair of scissors and tape. Oh, and the invariable pieces of cereal that miss the bowel and land on the floor (and don't get picked up)? My solution to that: always wear slippers.

Ah, yes, I know I am in the running for "Mother of the Year Award". :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I'm off to the gym for a three miler in a few...

Sunny

Hi Everyone-

Foot still hurts, so I am going to try a slow run on the treadmill today to see how it feels. I seem to remember that helping the last time this happened.

Kim - I do "100's". 100 reps of very light weight. 20 pounds for arms and chest, 60 for legs, and about 40 for my back. I do legs on monday, chest/arms on Tues & Thurs and Back and arms on Wed & Fri. It doesn't take as long as you might think either.

Lisa loves Pooh - :scared1: I hope your foot heals quickly!
Oh laundry:sad2: I stopped doing DDs when I suspected she was cleaning her room by throwing everything in the hamper... then one time, folded clothes came back in the hamper along with the dirty.
Been there. I thought it was my fault though because I clean house by going room to room with a laundry basket. Anything that belongs in another room goes in the basket until I get to that room.
I also do a pink load about once a week.
Lynnda - I am so impressed that you would walk a 5k when you are so far along! I don't think you are crazy at all. (However, I am the woman who went to WDW for a week when she was 33 weeks pregnant with #3. Dd's were 4 and 2 at the time.) You sound active and healthy and you are probably going to do great and inspire a whole lot of people!

Matt- Great Job! What an awesome weekend you had! You were flying!

Carrie- " " And good Luck on the treadmill today!

Oh and will somone talk to my DH about laundry? His idea of 'doing the laundry' is to actually put his clothes IN the hamper.

Cecilia

A month ago today...just about this time....Oh wait. I think about this time I was in a wheelchair. OK, a month ago today...earlier this morning....:cloud9:

You know, I'm not even close to losing any toenails. Perhaps I am not training hard enough. :confused3

This morning was an XT day so I just did 2 miles on the TM @ 4.0 and ten minutes on the bike. Next weekend Charlie is going to show me how to use the BowFlex. I really need to work on strength training. I'm reading "Fitness Walking for Dummies" and I'm embarrassed to say I pretty much failed the fitness test.

Jackie - Oh good, so I didn't get up early this morning for nothing. ;)

Uhh, Mike? What exactly is "well digger's butt cold"? :confused3

I miss Kevin....:guilty:

Hey everyone. Hope training is going well. My son and I are also up to about 2.25 miles but we are still around 15/16 mph! Oh well. We'll just keep working it. There was a 5K race here in town this weekend. We were interested in the logistics even though we don't compete for the first time until the end of April. The winner complete the 5K in 17 minutes and 15 seconds! Wow! Talk about having some work to do. My son was like, Mom we have to get going!!!

Good Morning TEAM,

Cam, Mel, Cecilia, Kristi - congrats on your runs!- way to go on making those personal bests!!

Leanna, Angie, Jill, jam217 -Welcome!!!

Jim - great question about the hat. I am not a runner, but I would like to know the answer too.

Question: for those that wear visors, does that keep the sweat off your face? If you wear nothing, what do you do to keep the sweat from running in your eyes? does that sound like a stupid question?

Dena, slow and steady is my motto this time around too!

Matt - :woohoo:

Stephanie - :grouphug:

Cam - wtg for even going out there and putting your legs in! Holy cow! I am sure that this just can't be a good idea in these temps! You are one tough lady!!!!:thumbsup2

Okay, I have 2 kids whining at my legs, I guess I will try to catch up with the rest of you all later!!!
Maggie

Boys are watching Dora, just finished reading posts...

Laundry, my dd16 does this all the time with her clothes. She ofcourse denies it. I haven't started making her do her own laundry yet. Hmmmm.... Maybe it is time to update the chore list....

Kim, great workout! wtg.

DJbounce, going out in that weather was very brave!

I did get my LW in last sat. Not sure if I posted that yet. I also got 3 miles in last night on TM. The first mile was horrible, no groove, didn't think I would finish. 20 minuted of stretching post walk. Today is a rest day.

It's is snowing here. Actually very pretty. Makes dealing with negative temps a tad bit easier...

Maggie
