Wk of Feb 3rd-- WISH Walking/Running Club

An American tourist in London decides to skip his tour group and explore the city on his own. He wanders around, seeing the sights, occasionally stopping at a quaint pub to soak up the local culture, chat with the locals, and have a pint of bitter.

After a while, he finds himself in a very nice neighbourhood with big, stately residences. No pubs, no stores, no restaurants and, worst of all, no public restrooms.

However, after all those Guinnesses, he really has to go. He finds a narrow side street, with high walls surrounding the adjacent buildings and decides to use the wall to solve his problem.

As he is unzipping, he is tapped on the shoulder by a London bobby, who says, "Sir, you simply cannot do that here, you know."

"I'm very sorry, officer," replies the American, "but I really have to go, and I just can't find a public restroom."

"Ah, yes," said the bobby, "just follow me".

He leads the American through a back delivery alley to a gate, which he opens.

"In there," points the bobby, "whiz away sir, anywhere you like."

The fellow enters and finds himself in the most beautiful garden he has ever seen. Manicured grass lawns, statuary, fountains, sculptured hedges, and huge beds of gorgeous flowers, all in perfect bloom. Since he has the policeman's blessing, he relieves himself and feels much more comfortable.

As he goes back through the gate, he says to the bobby, "That was really decent of you. Is that what you call English hospitality?"

"No, sir." replied the bobby. "That is what we call the French Embassy."

A "YARC" joke to give y'all a morning smile. Sure hope Lilly ain't French.:)

Oo-la-la! Zat was funni!

Hey kids!

I ran 3 (slow) miles last night! I was a bit sluggish starting off, but for the first time since the marathon, my stupid IT band didn't start throbbing. I was starting to wonder if I'd ever be able to run again, or if I peaked with Goofy!;)It was nice being back in my routine.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Good Morning Everyone!

Hope everyone came through the storms OK. I used to live in Memphis and they can be strong there. (Of course I finally got hit in Nashville. House was fine, but my car.... took MONTHS to get it put back togehter! The tornado went from the parking lot behind our office, jumped OVER the building and hit the park in front of us.... REALLY LUCKY!)

I never did get to the Yoga on the Beach at BC/YC. I guess 7 am on vacation just didn't get it for me.:rotfl2:

I did get up and do about 2.5 miles this morning. I used the 2.4 mile course on www.Disneyrunning.com and added some to it hoping it was 2.5 miles. Probably pretty close. I think it was about 35 minutes which isn't bad for me. I did buy a Timex with a stop watch, but had some techinical difficulties.... (Plus I had to stop and strech my calfs!)

I have to strech more. When I was doing this last year, the guys at the running shop gave me some streches that really helped my calfs... Got to get back to them. Plus I think my shoes are shot. I have a new pair that I have been wearing on the TM, but I wanted to keep them 'clean' Guess it's time to get over that!

I am checking out of my room at BCV in about 50 mintues. Have a quick call with the office at 11 and then I am heading back to World Showcase for a few hours before I fly home.

(Yes, Tricia, I saw Off Kilter, great as usual. I posted on the mega thread!)

For those of you doing Peachtree, keep watching. They are really clueless. I mean how many places can deal with 55,000 at the start and have a suitable ending spot exactly 10K later!!! Personally I think as soon as we finish this race we should all go to Piedmont and WALK on the Grass (GASP) I mean it's a PARK not a museum!!!!

Everyone keep up the good work!

Everyone that's interested in ordering the RaceReady shirts, please check the eye2eye thread. We have a design team working on a new proposal and I want to make sure everyone has a chance to take a look before I start processing the RaceReady orders. I'd like to have RR in by Feb 15 to get the shirts in time to train for Minnie, but folks might be interested in doing the eye2eye and want to give everyone time to decide.

Lara- I was wondering about Bonnet Creek also. Forgive my ignorance, but are there buses from there to the parks? Is it a themed resort? Tell us all about it when you get back.

Has anyone heard from MelR, Stephanie or Susie in Arkansas? Do we have anyone in TN?

Mel--thanks for thinking of me! We were actually spared most of the bad weather. Only had severe thunderstorms in our area. Susie lives much closer to where the big one hit--but I think her actual town was spared.

I'm still hanging around, but have been really sick this week. I've been laid up in bed since Monday afternoon. I think today I'm gonna beat this thing. But since I've had very little sleep and very little to eat in the past few days I"m still very weak. Off to go find a nice quiet nap spot.

Lara: Chimera and I like to run at Port Orleans resort. There's a path that goes all along the the Sassagoula River and through French Quarter and Riverside, really beautiful run, and about 4 miles, I think. We also like to run from Old Key West along the river to Downtown Disney; I think that was a 6-mile loop.

BIll: Thanks for the tip on the velcro belt. I'm going to check out one that Fuel Belt makes & see if that does the trick.

See y'all later,
Jeff

Lynnda: Glad to make you giggle! I hope Timmy is feeling better. Do you have another appt. with your doctor? My mother has them, in addition to a host of other issues, and there are a range of treatments. Yea for you for signing up for the Danskin; I remember you saying how much you liked it. I look forward to hearing how your training goes.

Cecilia: Thanks for sharing the start to your day with us! It made me smile.

JeninGA: :woohoo: on the back-to-feeling-good run.

Carol: Thanks for the updates on Peachtree!

Shan: Yeah, DH is practically perfect in every way. Normally that gets on my nerves...:rotfl2: :cloud9:

Lara: I ditto Stacey's request! More info on Bonnet Creek, please.

Stacey: Take care of yourself. I found myself napping, if sleeping HOURS at a time in the middle of day counts as a nap.

As for me: Today was XT (free weights/strength/flexibility) and the record-breaking temps of yesterday (61 degrees in Pgh) have settled back into the snowy mush of winter!

I did my Leslie Sansone Walk Away The Pounds 2 Mile DVD tonight.

I know I asked about this quite awhile ago, and people said I should not count her DVDs as XT since it's "walking." I think I am going to count it as XT from here on out though. Yes, it is walking (in place). But it's also kicks, kick backs, knee lifts and upper body with the stretchie band. I know my legs (and arms) are sore after one of her DVDs in a way they are not sore after a long walk! And man, does she make me sweat!

Carol - hope you had a safe flight home. Great to hear you were able to get out and run this morning. I just LOVE BCV. Hope you had a nice few house in World Showcase before your flight.

No training for me today. I am planning on doing something tomorrow.

Glad everyone is getting the steps in.

Thanks for posting that!!! I really needed to laugh! Sorry DH, but that was tooooo funny! :love2:

Thanks honey, perhaps I shall remember that when you want to see the legs next time. :rolleyes1

I think we should go ahead with the Race Ready shirts as well. It looks like with the eye2eye, we can order anytime we want so people can add them later if they want to. As long as it is a bright lime green, I figure that anyone can see it from any distance.

... And man, does she make me sweat!

Why do I get the feeling that this comment will soon be taken out of context and poor Kristi is going to get another reputation besides concert stalker. ;) :lmao:

Timmy is feeling better, well at times. He still wants to snuggle quite a bit as well and we will do our best to accomidate that especially since it may not last too much longer.

I was also able to get a run in last night and hopefully things can get back to a sense of normalicy with regards to training.

Hope everyone has a great Friday.

Bill

Jeff, I've got the Helium fuelbelt and it doesn't come undone for sure. I just ordered DH one for Valentine's Day. I also went ahead and got him an extra pocket to slide on the belt. The one that comes with it is small, the medium size accommodates power bars and my camera actually fits inside it well. The small pocket a gel would fit, but my cell just barely does.

Good morning, team!!! Happy Friday!! :goodvibes I am happy to report I have a very sore bum today, I biked 10 miles on the stationary bike last night and I am feeling it! ::yes::

Mel--I prefer the Race Ready shirts too, the eye2eye are just a little too much for me. I'll head over to the thread and place my order.

Kristi--I would definitely count your Leslie Sansone videos, I have never done any of her's, but my Mom does them and they are hard work! For that matter I have done Sweatin' to the Oldies to count as xt in the past, you definitely do work up a sweat!

Stephanie--I hope you are feeling better soon!!!!! :wizard:

Deborah--What part of the 'burgh are you in? We have family in the Butler/Cranberry/Mars area. Sorry about your engagement ring, that's terrible!!

Jen in GA--Be careful with your IT band! I am the queen of IT band injuries, whenever I re-injure mine it takes a good 2-3 months to heal itself. Try walking instead of running, it will take a lot of pressure off of your IT band and lift weights, especially leg curls and leg extensions, that is the best preventative thing you can do to fight off injury. Good luck!! :wizard:

Bill and Lynnda--I hope little Timmy is feeling better!!! Say hi to my buddy Bill for me. :)

 to everyone I missed! Have a great day, team!

Krista

Shan: Thanks for the info on the Helium belt. I am planning to go to the running store today and try some belts out, so I hope they have that model there. I hope you didn't get your DH the PINK one!

Yesterday was a really lousy day; dadgum printing software I got installed on my thin-client servers decided to throw up, and took me all day to get it fixed. :badpc: So my run was slow - 45 min at like a 15min pace. But at least I got the time in, even if it was a stonker :guilty:

See ya!

Lara - I don't know if they cover BOnnet Creek, but RObert has DIsney runnign maps on his website. http://www.disneyrunning.com.

Stephanie - Glad oyu are safe! Hope you are better soon!

OK, starting to worry about MelR adn Escape. Going ot e-mail MelR.

No training to report here. I have to go to a pep rally at DD's school (it's a K-12 school; they have interested elementary kids do a few cheers/dances). I just realized it lasts from 1:00-2:45! That is so wrong! Then we have to go to the game tonight... :scared1: I can't begin to explain how strange it is that any child of mine would be interested in cheerleading...:rolleyes1 Maybe I can swing in a quick workout between all the spectating.

Krista- Thanks for your voice of reason! I used to go to the gym 4-5 times/week, but when I started increasing my mileage for Goofy I couldn't deal with the TM and stopped going. I need to go back and do the weights and some cross training. I know that lack of XT is one of my major weaknesses. I'm so bad about getting in a rut.

I'm so impressed with anyone who runs at Disney (well, when they're not in an actual race). I've told myself I was going to run on many trips, and I have yet to do it. I have done a few extra walks early in the mornings, but I'm usually walking to gift shops/bakery, so I don't think they count.:rolleyes1
