Wk of Dec 2--WISH Walking/Running Club

lol. Vic - If you're running 1/6, you shoudl be fine. If it's really 10/6, I agree with Cam. A bit long. ;)

DOH! :rotfl2:

Judy - the Zebra Butt comment made my day.

Carrie - I guess i'm not really that disney literate after all!! I tried to get my res. early this year, which i thought i did, but now that I have gotten my paperwork, I can see that it is not what i thought i planned at all. I'm currently on the phone w/ dis and they are going to charge me 50bucks for a mistake that i think was theirs!!!! I'm pretty flamin' mad right now. I sure wish i had a disney genius helping me!!!!

No no! I've been paying attention to everyone here. :teeth: That LR would normally be 11 miles. So I was just going to make it 13. But my concern was that is was three weeks before the Half. is that too close?
Judy, I'm hoping that you have decided not to do that many miles. Besides, that would be like doing the event before the event. Let this trip be your first. I know you will make it. I'll be behind ya (you go faster than me now). You will have the best time if your first time is in "The World." Stick with the original plan.
:thumbsup2

So, on paper, I'm fine. It's just...that fear of the unknown....that fear of having trained for a year with this one race in mind then blowing it....that fear of coming home and telling everyone that doubted me that I didn't finish....
As has been said, you WILL make it. You go first and I'll push you along.

Everyone, I'm feeling it too. ONE more LR for me and this is it! I have the excitement, those butterflies. I remember and know what you are all going through if it is your first. As you do the last LR, be it a good one or a stonker. Put it in your mind...start now. You can do this. You will do this. You have trained and it will happen. Now's the time for determination. Turn that fear into determination!

Thunder, thunder, thunderation!
We're the WISH Group delegation.
When we move with DETERMINATION,
We create a Great! sensation.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

MelR - That's awful. I'm e-mailing you with my # if you want help!

Carrie - As long as you are sure that the mistake is on their part, then don't back down. Don't accept a $50 charge for a mistake that was not yours. If you have to ask to speak to someone in Guest Relations, they are usually alot more willing to help.

Hi Everyone: Sorry I wasn't around for the fun today. I had a really busy day at work today. I did get my 40 min SWOG in though.

Hey, I just saw this posted on John "The Penguin" Bingham's Blog site.
We'll be doing the holiday stuff and in January I'll be in Orlando [which CAN be cold], then Phoenix, then Miami, so I may dodge the winter bullet for another few weeks.
So it sounds like he's planning on being in Orlando for the WDW Marathon.

I got my 857's I'm wearing in the marathon today!!!  I was so excited when I saw the box from New Balance sitting on my front porch (with all the on-line shopping I've been doing lately, UPS knows the route to my house :teeth: ). After I ripped open the box, I took a deep, deep breath of the inside of the shoes. There's nothing better than the smell of new running shoes!! I can't wait to run in them.

MelR--I'm glad you got your $50 back! Did you have to pull out your big guns??

Mel--Don't start Hines Ward tomorrow, he's still out.

Jen--I forgot to tell you, the other night Hines ate a penny. A penny!! Do I have a Labrador or a goat?? :confused3

Kevin--I've been meaning to ask you, how are your Newfies doing? Do they wear zebra tights too? ;)

Krista - thankfully, I did not subject anyone at disney to a taper minifreakout, but it was close!! I just used the little guns today. :stir:

MelR - Glad you got it all fixed!!!!!! Glad you did not have to hit anyone with taper anger. ;)

DAve - We'll forgive you this once, but try not to skip out on teh fun again! :p

Krista - Yay for the new shoes!!!!! Online shopping? Oh, I wouldn't know a thing about that. :rolleyes1

Where is zebra butt??? He was supposed to run this am! ALready planning what he will wear wehn he meets teh ESPN crew? :teeth:

Zebra Butt! :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:
Clear the mind of all the pictures in it right now!

Oh we are on the brink of going crazy!

Krista....New shoes! :cheer2: Smelling them! Oh yeah...I just cannot do that with mine...they are all red with my toe blood! :scared: I will be getting a new pair as soon as I get my paycheck tomorrow... :cheer2:

Melissa - O yeah...break out the guns....

Are we supposed to be tapering for this? :confused3 I am eating everything that isn't nailed down...baking cookies now...But I ate most of the cookie dough 1st..DDs cannot understand why so few cookies come in a pack. :p

Trying to talk DH into letting me do a 1/2 this weekend...the Charlotte Marathon is this weekend but at this point he feels like it is to much $$$ with WDW coming up, but the 1/2 is only 1/2 the price. ($40) I don't think he is going to go for it though. Send me :wizard: :wizard: ...I would just have enough time to run it b/4 my matinee on Saturday.

:rotfl: Me too Krista,

Oh let's see...

this week I received

new shoes and Powergel from roadrunnersports
Pink Nintendo DS (finally found one online)
American Girl (Emily, if that means anything to you moms)

next week
more shoes from Amazon.com
more American Girl (need the accessories)
Christmas presents for DH's secretary/office staff from Harry and David

Oh, I think I have everything. I better!

Colleen

Colleen- I just got American Girl Molly DVD for my niece (matches her doll), oh and 2 DVDs fro dh and nativity and in the past 2 weeks, I got 2 books fo dad, rain chain for dh, books for dh, just ordered mp3 fro dh to use at gym.. Hmmmm, nothing for me. I should fix that. :rotfl2:

Christa - You think we're only "on teh brink" of going crazy???? :lmao: So sorry about your toe!

The good news...I ran 2 miles tonight...straight through, no fussy intervals. Walked most of mile 3. Ran and walked mile 4. Total time was 51:14. I maybe one of the 10 most anal people in the world so the whole interval thing that's regimented with numbers to track has always appealed to me. I think my brain has been rebelling though, so I'm planning to make Wed night a freeform run where I just do what feels good.

The bad news...appt with podiatrist on the 18th. My foot's been complaining since the 10 miles on Sat. Looks like I may be asking Santa for orthotics.

Big thanks to everyone for helping with my training questions. I've put two heart rate training books on my Amazon wish list!

I'm eating everything that's not tied down lately, too. People have been bringing lots of goodies to our office...dangerous place to be this time of year!

Krista...thanks for the heads-up...I'm starting Donald Driver and Muhsin Muhammad this week. Still having tight end troubles.

Judy...you have no worries with the sweepers at that pace.

Zebra butt? Ya know, a black tshirt and hot pink feather boa would work with that...at least it did for Dennis Rodman :teeth:

Where's Sunny?

Oops...low battery warning. Nite all!

Hi all:

Long time no anything. :confused3

I am in a bind. In just a few days I will be finished with finals (Dec 15) and I need to put some time and miles in to get ready for the Goofy. Any words of wisdom, a mini-training schedule to follow, advice, prayers, ANYTHING would be appreciated. I have done little running of late due to my very hectic grad school schedule. Unfortunately I signed up for the Goofy way before I decided to to back to get my MBA. I am sticking to my guns and going ahead with it, but I'll need some help from you all. :thumbsup2

Please e-mail me your thoughts and suggestions (keenho@aol.com) for a ramp up and ramp down for the final three weeks before the events. I will be putting in as many miles as I can up until the end of the year, then tapering down as rapidly as possible.

My goal is to take it easy and finish the Half in something around 2:30-2:45 and to have fun. I want to save myself for the Marathon the next day. I ran a Marathon earlier this year (in May) and I know what it'll take. I am not sure I have it in me right now. So, my goal for the Marathon is to finish.... no time desires. I just want to finish.

Thanks! Happy Taper-Madness!

:grouphug:

Howard

Howard - i can't offer you any advice on a quick training plan (I have enough trouble getting my regular training in). But, you are in much better shape than I am and i think if you just take it easy and go with how your body feels, you'll definitely meet your goal of finishing.

Since you're not trying for a specific time finish, why not work out a training schedule that would have you doing a long run on marathon weekend? Since you haven't been doing much running all along, do you really need a taper?
(I don't know, maybe some of the more experienced runners can answer that.)

But I have no doubt in my mind that you will finish both races! :thumbsup2

Terri

Howard: LOADS of pixie dust to you as you get ready for the Goofy! I know the feeling...I'm still not running due to my mystery injury that is yet to be fixed lol. But I have every intention of getting to that starting line. I am in sheer panic mode right now as my longest run was only 16 miles :faint: . But honestly your story from last year inspired me to not give up and hang in there despite obstacles. So we all know what you are capable of! I know you'll reach your goals and I'll be thinking of you as you finish up finals and get into some training. I have no advice to offer unfortunately!!! Just be careful and don't push yourself too hard. What a year this has been for you!!!!

Colleen: Yep...lol....was just ordering from AG before I came here to the dis tonight. I've been getting stuff delivered left and right this week :). All the shopping helps to take the edge of the insanity that is building since I've stopped running LOL.

OK guys...once again...remind me....if my longest run was only 16 miles....just saying I don't get better in time to hit the 18 or 20. I can still do this thing right? :confused3 :guilty: I am so nervous I can't sleep (thus the late night posts lol). You all have been so kind and helpful listening to my injury reports week in and week out. Thanks a bunch!!! :grouphug:
