Wow: What a busy, busy thread in the past day. I'm loved reading your stories--and I think it would kind of be cool to have a thread called "What WISH Means to ME"--but am glad I chose to stay out of the fray. I felt a snark attack coming on and let me tell you, my snark attacks have a pretty big bite to go with them. Just call me the Great White Debra of the Midwest.
Anyway, because of the pace at which the thread has moved, I won't comment on each personal story except to say that these stories touch me, make me proud to be a WISHer, and make me wanna say "Awwwww." Except that would be too sappy, so I'll just go

and let you all know that I was enjoying a nice double shot of Glenlivet while the rest of you drank beer.
Vic: A beer crawl! A new event to train for?
Erin: Love the idea of a WO tracker like BT and think that continuing the ideas of teams (whether competitive or event-oriented) is a great idea. Mentoring is something I'd like to see us do, too. I know I need all the help I can get, but I like to think that I'll get to the point where I can mentor others.
DM Kim:
Stick around for a while. You know one of the things I've noticed about WISHers? Everyone looks good in lime green!!
Anne:
Allie: Glad you're enjoying your Garmin loved one. And thanks for asking the questions so Bill could answer them; they were questions I didn't even know I had (I anticipate getting my Garmin sometime in the near future).
Aloha Jeff: I just love how you always volunteer to fall on your sword for us by recording all those moments in paradise. Very generous of you.

Glad to know you "earned" that beer with your 8.5 miler. P.S. Thank you for feeding my Lostie habit; I cannot believe, however, in anything less than idyllic conditions in Oahu. It's my fantasy, and I must have it!
Shan: Well, I'm glad the doctor's appointment has put things into motion for a diagnosis. I don't know if it makes you feel better about things, but you're going to see a sports-medicine specialist...because you're an ATHLETE!
Christa: Oh no, you can't take away my precious inner voices. My voices, like my issues, are the only things that will be with me my entire life. Friends come and go, jobs change, I move, and even DOOD has changed from the young Romeo he once was, but my voices & issues are constant, faithful companions! P.S. "Tri to WO"--
Mel: I'm so visiting you--that ice cream sounds delicious! I love a sweet & spicy combination. Aztec dark chocolate, for instance, makes me swoon. David Cook ain't bad either. Great run, btw!
Allyson: Thanks for the finishing-rate numbers for the Boston runners 70+ yo. It's very inspiring.

with W4D5 of C25K; I'm so happy your repeat-weeks pattern is effective.
Tracy: You caught me--I wasn't resting last night. I was drinking after responding to & reading this thread. But I found it restful.

Speaking of rest--good job on your rest day!
I am pretty new here also, but just jump on in - it's like taking off a bandaid the faster you do it the better - kinda.
For some reason this makes perfect sense to me, even if I couldn't explain it to another person!!! About the pic of you post-Mount Trashmore...can I call you a dirty, dirty girl now?
Craig: Oh, how I wish I was going to be at the Minnie. *Sigh* My half isn't until the 17th and at Cleveland, which I'm sure is lovely but not a Disney event. But the advice is well-issued, well-received, and being followed.

P.S. I just can't conceive of a soccer post as being off-topic.
Amy: Toasted pine nuts on everything! Salads, cottage cheese, rice. Okay, maybe not ice cream. What can I say--I'm a nutty girl.
Leana: Yay for the successful body camp and for the preventative/recuperative appointment with the chiro before the Minnie. Very wise and entirely in keeping with your very healthy lifestyle. Funny story about Fargo--the year of their first marathon was at the end of May. It was very windy and rainy and cold, and at one point--light snow flakes. So if Calgary is weird, so is Fargo. (Not that I'm disputing the latter...).
Bill: Mmm, melty pork. For you, I'd even try a piece.

Very cool gifts for Lynnda--I'm always all about the media!
Kristi: Field trip, field trip!!! Can you handle one more 4yo--me? Yoga's deep relaxation/breathing techniques might come in handy tomorrow.
Carrie: And that's another vote for many stress-relief benefits of yoga! Breathe in, breathe out. So much more sophisticated than "wax on, wax off," don't you think?
Cecilia:
for you, for everything. My thoughts are with you.
Kevin: I've always wanted another kid brother, one that I could actually get in all kinds of trouble. Care to apply? I'm so glad your running/training/WISHing schedule is back on track.
Stacie: I just love that your whole family is doing the Minnie. What great memories you'll have.
Jen: I know I've said it before, but your DDs are gems!
Scott: Does your inner cyclist compete with your outer cyclist? I can't imagine who would win, given how your outer cyclist kicks tail! And

for the Minnie Week--that will fit nicely with your Mr. Minnie-verse responsibilities, don't you think? Your pic suggests you're a shoe-in for the title, you know!
Frank: Tuscany, huh? That sounds like it will be incredible. And you're another soccer fan.

Craig's the expert in these parts, but I do enjoy watching a good match.

for FSC & GOL TV, which DOOD & I discovered in Fargo. It almost made the winter bearable.
Cam: I never told you this, but I saw you from afar on the Marathon. Of course, I recognized you from your pics, and I should have gotten up the courage to say "hi" on the course--but I didn't. (Race day nerves made me stupid, I think.) Let me just say I was pulling for you that day, even if you didn't know who I was.
Krista: Aww, come on. Fondle yesterday's drama, just a little bit. So I can say you did. And a bigger awwwww, for the baby kicking and all these special pregnancy moments. I really do appreciate you recording them for us, as it makes me feel like I'm experiencing a new WISH baby joining the team.
NEPats Bill:
"Kind of like soccer on skates, but you get to hit people."
Now somebody needs to use that as a marketing slogan. Maybe the Red Wings. And the only way you're going to be swept is if someone brings along a hockey stick--and I don't hear anyone volunteering!
CarolA: I, too, wish I had the courage to pack up and move to Orlando. DOOD & I dream of retiring there to work at WDW, where his dream job is working with horticulture & mine is the chewing-gum patrol.
Connie: Great news about the DOOC, Duchess! Like I said up-post, everyone looks good in lime green!
Patricia: Yes, you CAN do this! You ARE doing this! WTG on W1D2 of C25K. Keep posting!
Cosi Bella: What a great background on "Why (You) Love Running." I think how people fit running into their schedules differs person to person. I'm a morning person, myself, and have access to a TM in the dark/safety/rainy weather issues and to a DH who nags me into getting up. Other people are more self-motivated, like you sound. We do invest in the gym for the TM access, but also for the weight training & XT opportunities. I've found that the expense "forces" us to try XT in order to get our money's worth--in turn, I'm a stronger person & (hopefully) a better runner. Like I said, everyone is different, so let us know what works for you!
Morgan: Okay, here's where I apply team pressure for you to sign up for another 5K. Double miles for Ohana!!! Or how about, another 5K earns you a new running skirt and, if you sign up now, you can use the WISH discount at runningskirts.com! (Did those help?)
Hockey Kim: Yay for October (ToT?) and Marathon weekend!!!!!
z:
for the countdown home! That's such good news!!!
Maura: Oooh, you were massaged by a Disney race celebrity! Did it give you goosebumps. I do think it must be good luck; instead of rubbing a lucky statue, you were rubbed (in the right way) by a lucky and well-trained masseuse!
Martha: The older I get, the harder I find sitting for extended period of time. I really think being a couch potato was easiest for me when I was in my 20s! Btw, is the WISH meet always the next day?
As for me: Well, I went the gym today and.... (can you feel the tension building?)
...continued my program of resting. (What a let-down, huh?)
I did core work, light upper-body-only weights, and lots of stretching (and I'd say flexing, although no one would recognize it as such). I also managed to stay out of the fray of FC gossip, which generally requires more flexibility than I have. I know, a tension-free and injury-free day. I'm giving it one more day of rest before a light day of XT on Friday & my 10-mile LR scheduled for Saturday.
Sorry there's not more to report, but I tried to build some drama into the narrative for you. But even though conflicts & obstacles make for good fiction, I prefer my life drama & trauma-free.
