Without a FP, when to get spot for MSEP?

We will be there early Sept, so generally low crowds. I will have a 3yo, so I can't be sitting and doing nothing for too long. Trying to decide if it's worth one of the only 3 FPs.

I could use the answer to this exact question, too!! Will be there early Sept.with a 3 year old and I'm wondering this and other similar things. So, is FP needed???

Is arrive for a spot about 30 minutes before if in Frontierland or 45-60 minimum for Main Street.

I will never really understand why anyone would book this as a FP or arrive super early (unless you have a few small kids). I've always wound up in good spots by just walking and most of the time being forced to wait until the parades over.

But if actively looking for spots, I'd grab one over by splash mountain in between there and the pin trader store. Don't think you'd have to wait there as long as you would for Main Street.

My DD LOVED this parade on our last trip (she was 2) and we did use a FP (back in the day when FP- could also be used). So she was able to sit right in front, and I'd like to get her another front row seat!

The thing that's tricky about September is that they only offer MSEP on a few select nights of the week, so those nights are REALLY busy. I've never been at other times of the year, so I guess I can't really compare. But we go in Sept every year, and it's always felt very uncrowded except for this one particular experience. And the times we've tried to see it have been craziness. We tried staking out a spot 30 minutes in advance last time and everything was full on main street. We should have gone back to frontierland, but crowds were too insane for us to make it back there from the entrance. So we just watched with semi-obstructed views. It was a bit of a disappointment.

In October, we got front row spot in Frontierland in front of the shooting arcade at 7:50 for the 8 pm parade. The parade got to us at 8:25 or so. My DS was newly 3 at the time, and that was an easy wait for him. We had snacks and he had a light up toy we brought from home to keep him busy.

Just grab a spot about 30 minutes prior. No FP needed at all for MSEP.

Yeah, that's what makes me a little nervous, but I saw that Josh updated the calendar and it looks like MSEP has been added now every night except the party nights if course, so I hope that helps!
