Wishes Fireworks Dessert Party

Our Wishes was at 9 and the started letting people in at 7:45. I got in line at 6:45 just because I didn't have anything else to do and I could sit on the edge of the planter by the entrance.

Nobody else showed up until 7:15 but that may be unusual. My family joined me around 7:20

When we entered, a CM escorted us in but let us select a table. There were lots of tables for 4, some for 6 and 8.

We enjoyed it but we had a good table.

So just to clarify, to get the best tables you should show up at least 1 hour before your reservation time?
Example: Wishes 10PM, Reservation: 9PM, Arrive by 8PM??

Sounds like things in the last couple years since I last went have changed, but I hated it. The deserts were not good and ran out. The coffee was gone before I even got seated and i was told there would be no more. Screw that, I paid fifty bucks a person and can't even get a coffe?? Even getting there 20 mins before the start of the party we were one of the last to be seated. I thought the point was to not have to wait in a crowd but that isn't how it works. Then we had a great table and everyone just scooted up to the rail before we even sat down with any deserts. So I still had to stand to see the fireworks. What the hell was I paying for? And the view is was off center so it isn't good. The worst experience I have had a Disney. Don't care what has changed, never going to try it again and don't recommend it to anyone.

Ok, this is disheartening...we have a wishes dessert party reservation for our trip, now I am thinking of cancelling...

Yeah, it's still about double.

Also of note, the assigned seating is gone so you'll have to line up about an hour before it starts to snag a good table.
When did they do away with assigned tables? We still had them in January

We went on our last trip three years ago. I thought it was worth it just to have a reserved viewing area and not have to fight the crowds with three kids along. With the changes they've made since then I don't see why anyone would want to do it -- double the price, no assigned tables, no standing at the rail. If I were in charge of it and trying to make it a miserable waste of time and money, those are the top three changes I would make.

If you're looking to ge your moneys worth in food, no....it's an absolute rip off. The true value comes with convenience and that is different to everyone. How much is it worth it to you to not have to worry about finding a spot for your and your family for the projection show or Wishes. Some trips I think it's worth it and others I don't, depending on where else my budget is tied up.

We have a reservation for this soon, in May - so I guess I'll be in line at 7:45 or so for a 10:00 wishes.

These changes are a little frustrating - I did this party a couple of years ago with assigned seating and it was lovely. We did have to stand at the rail for fireworks, but that was ok. I'm only doing it this time because it was the one thing my mom requested we do on this trip, but I think I'll be looking for another special thing in the future.

Thankfully we're also going to try and go up to Top of the World one night, and we've got another partial MK day scheduled, so there's at least more opportunities to see Wishes.

I'm heading there in December and interested in special access for Holiday Wishes. Unfortunately, I haven't stayed in the parks for fireworks or parades in years due to younger children and general laziness- not wanting to secure a spot 2 hours beforehand!

On another thread, someone told me that in addition to parade and fireworks FP's, dessert parties are not available past May. Anyone heard this?

EDIT: I think they were just referring to dessert parties at Epcot and DHS.

Honestly, it was not as bad as it sounds. I was only in line for an hour (which may have been too long but I didn't have anything else to do). The hour before Wishes was spent at a table, with treats, in a chair, and just chilling with my family. If you line up in the parks for 2 hours, you are on the ground or in another uncomfortable position for a long time.

For us, it was worth the view and the comfort of the space. Yes, I lined up 2 hrs ahead of time but the party started an hour later, so it was really only an hour wait..... in the shade and in a comfortable area.

Do you think one person could hold the spot?

I think being on a boat with a Captain and a total of 10 guests on a Wishes Fireworks cruise is a better deal!

That's what I did. We were a party of 6, so we were seated at a table for 6. By having the family join me later in the queue, it didn't take good seats away from the people behind us....... who were also doing it. Many families showed up and then took turns taking bathroom breaks. I heard at least 2 parents telling their kids to go wash their hands.

We did it in January and thought it was fun but not something we will spend the money on again to do. Tables are really tight now that they are pulled right up to the rail. We were one table from the rail and they didn't fill the table at the rail so we had a great view. I actually felt bad for some of the tables behind us. Just seems like the seating could be done better since everyone pays the same price and sits further back. We won't be doing it again.

Oh well that's good anyway. Makes sense, perfect time for a bathroom break and all that.

Ok, we are going ahead and keeping res. We will just get there a little early. Take s chance!

Im with you, I don't mind getting there early and waiting to get a good spot. By the end of the day have a couple hours of not really doing anything but relaxing could be very much welcomed! And the experience I absolutely think will be worth checking out at least once.

Has anyone got to the Dessert party via the "Same Day Reservation?" I know the different location, but I am curious about the food and seating. Is it all the same and the ADR version at Tomorrowland Terrace:
  • Are tables moved into the area each night or is this one standing room only?
  • Are the dessert/food/drink options the same?
