Wishes Fireworks Dessert Party

A couple of other ideas:
- If you have dinner at California Grill, you can watch Wishes from the top of CR no matter what time your ADR is. (Just hang onto your receipt for re-admission to the restaurant.) The view is spectacular and they pipe in the music. It's a really wonderful experience.
- Ferrytale Wishes. I haven't tried this yet, but may do so this summer! For $99 per adult, you cruise the Seven Seas Lagoon aboard one of the large ferry boats. Desserts inspired by the monorail resorts are served along with other goodies. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are also available.

I know both options are a pricier than the dessert party, but IMO, it's gone downhill with all the additional tables and the price hike. It was always a "must-do" for me but not anymore.

My issues isn't with the loss of assigned seating per se but rather having to line up 2 hours early to get the best table. I agree with others, the benefit before was showing up 20 min early not having to stake out a spot in line hours in advance. At this point if I'm going to spend $200 for 4 people I'm going to go to CG and get a nice dinner and see the fireworks. The dessert party at HS and the dessert cruise are more expensive but also much nicer.

Many people in this post mention standing at the rail. Recent reports are that standing at the rail is no longer allowed, making your table placement more important as to whether or not you have a good view. That is why everyone feels compelled to arrive so early.

  1. How is the food? (should have been the first question, lol)

Thanks for all the advice and I apologize if there is already a thread for this party, I did not see it.

In 2014 we (DH, me, DS23, DS17 and DD13) did the dessert party for the first time. We unanimously did not care for the desserts. It was quite surprising that with all of the many selections that there was not at least one or two things that we tried and someone in at our table said, "oh go get yourself some of these! They are fabulous!" NOPE! nothing. It all looked good but was about the same quality as the baked goods you find packaged in the "in-store bakery" section of your grocery store. Edible but don't expect too much. All of us agreed that the chocolate dipped strawberries were the best thing on the buffet.

So, we have reservations for a 9pm Wishes and the Dessert Party starts at 8pm. Does that mean we need to be in line by 7pm? We are a party of 6. Do they have tables for 6?

Once you enter, do you grab your own table or do they seat you?

Hi Claudia.

This may be of help.

fyi...this review was from before the changes were made to the party. Some parts of the review won't be accurate anymore.

Good to know. I was wondering that exact thing. Disappointing I never made it to this before the changes. I am tempted to give it a go anyways while my wife and I are there by ourselves just to say we have done it.

Other changes in addition to this one?

It looks like that review was written in November of 2015. At the beginning of 2016, they stopped 'assigning' tables based on when you made your reservation. Now, everyone says it is basically 'first come, first served' in that the first people in line before checking in get the tables up front, while those who arrive closer to the check in time get tables further in the back. The tables also have been moved right up next to the railing, eliminating the area where people used to get up and stand. Now, everyone remains seated. So, unless you arrive very early and stand in line for the best tables, you will most likely not have a very good view.

1. New price (2015) $49 adults. $29 kids 3-9 yrs.
2. View can be good (if you are up against/near the railing.)
3. Do you like eating a lot of desserts? I'd be "finished" after eating one (or two.)
4. They have stopped pre-assigning tables. You may or may not get a table on/near the railing, so it may be that you would have to stand to see the show. (This has always been the case.)
Think does fly (on the nights she flies) overhead,
I agree with this. View can be good if your at the railing.
#2 is spot on, I was sick of dessert pretty quick. After a few bites, I was craving for something savory. Thankfully they have a cheese plate!

Honestly, im glad I did it. But I wont do it again. Not worth the price tag.

Hello, I called to confirm today there is still no assigned seating so we cancelled. Too bad. Thought is was the perfect solution.

Did they happen to say why they got rid of it? I wonder if they were getting complaints from people who got seats in the back.

I called WDW Dine and asked if they still didn't have assigned seating and they said yes, so I cancelled. I was talking to a reservation agent and I didn't think she'd know.

We had a great time and excellent seating for the 3/19/16 dessert party. I did line up about an hour before they started seating but the rest of my family didn't join me until 20 before seating. The line didn't form until right at seating time, which was 7:45 for a 9 pm Wushes. At least half of the tables had a full view of everything. There were various table sizes for various party sizes.

The night before, the line was quite long at 7:40, tho.

What was your arrival time? Wishes is at 10:00 our night and our arrival time is 9:00. So should we get in line at 8:00pm or would we have to get in line even earlier?
