** WISH Volunteers for WDW Marathon Weekend **

oooooo, I can't wait to see the wishers at #2 and #9 during the Half,,,,Yeah for us Halfers or Halvers(sp?0):cool1: :cool1:

Come on you people, sign up for #11 for the FULL!!!

hey all, please forgive the no caps or any other character involving the shift key. my keyboard is having issues....something to do with a diet coke being spilled on it. :rolleyes1

i wonder if anne will be doing her famous water stop. i'd like to help out there as well as another water stop, possibly.

just curious, why the red stop number 2 as opposed to the blue stop.

I think this is why....my memory is not the best in my sleep-deprived state, so...
Last year we picked an early shift, so we could go scream team elsewhere afterwards.
We boiled it down to either the blue or red #2 water stop.
I think we choose red since it seemed like more WISHers tended to be on the red course, rather than blue.
Or maybe it was because of my hair color. :rotfl2:
Other than that, I have no idea.
As for this year, I think it is simply a 'tradition' for me, Judy, Marilyn & Jim since that's where we all were last year!

Sorry Maura I just PMd you about this, oops.

THANKS for joining me Maura - Go stop #11. We'll get to see your bright shining (from sweat no less) after you go through the MK and come backstage.:cool1:

I couldn't get the website to work for me, so I faxed our registration in this morning! Red stop #2!! Really and truly Jim said he had as much fun volunteering as getting his Donald medal.

After our shift is over we plan to head to the AK tram area to cheer our teammates on as they head into what I think is the yuckiest part of the full, that dreaded shadeless/desolate stretch from AK to MGM.

We are staying at Pop but won't have a car, so if any WISHers are at Pop and are working the full early shift we would greatly appreciate a lift.

Judy...Kristi...

I wanted to let you know I asked about handing out the medals...The response was that a group was doing it for the full and half. I asked her how far in advance they sign up as we had a group that might be interested and this was the response:

We start group recruitment 7 months out. Most of our groups comes back year after year. If any of our return groups would like to change locations they have the first preference when it comes to the finish line. All to say that it is very hard to get into any of the finish line areas since we have groups already lined up to take the place of a retire group. However, we do have many other areas that you and your group members may enjoy during the event. Please let me know if you would like to be added to our group database, so we can send you the information as soon as we start recruiting next year.

Do you want me to send her any specific person's name and e-mail/address or whatever??? That way we could get in the group database or are we ok w/ the way it is now?

Just let me know and I'll respond back to her.

Stacie

Still working on the logistics of this.....what time do we need to be at WWoS to work at #2/#9 waterstop for the half? Will taxis run that early? Heck, it can't cost more than $20 to get there. Coming back, the buses will be running for the Expo so that won't be a problem. My only concern is with the morning road closures and what happens if a cab can't get through. I really want to do this!

Taxis are around 24/7 at WDW. If there is not one at your resort, the desk will get one for you.

1/10/09, Water Stop #2 & #9 Volunteer, 4:30 AM - 9:30 AM

Dianel and I (along with our other partners in crime Cathy and Barb) are signed up to be volunteers on the full course at water stop #7. :thumbsup2

OK, the deed is done........John and I are both registered and confirmed to work at water stops #2/9 for the half. Not exactly sure how we will get there but the worst possible scenario entails taking a cab and we can deal with that.

Now that I am registered, I have another question. Any reason why we chose that station over another? When I looked at the choices, station #7 looked like it was a shorter shift (5:00am - 8:45) than ours (4:30 - 9:30) and possibly allowing time to join the scream team at the finish line. Just curious why we didn't choose that one......

Because Erica said so and she is a princesses.:worship: That's the answer I get anyway. Mine is not to reason why my place is just to say "yes dear".

So glad you guys are going to be there to. I hear we will get cool jackets to.

hmmm I thought it went, "Mine is not to question why, mine is just to do or die." I like the fact that you obey very well, must have been the military background. :)

I like this #2/#9 water stops for the Half. Its on the long road to MK and on the way back to EPCOT. You will see us all excited and thrilled for #2 and probably going along nicely, then coming back for #9 all sweaty, drippy, shooting pinky pistols, and maybe not so smiley (although I have a smile most of the time - i've been told). I like it and will be looking forward to the "out and back" experience!!!

Come on team, let's not forget our fellow WISHers who are on the Blue course for the full. Join Patrick and I at Blue #2!!!

I could not find a place to confirm that my registration is A-OK with them. Even tho I have a confirmation, with all the problems I need to be sure. Why can't I find a link???? HELP!!!!! :worship:

I have a question:

Do you get a one day park pass for volunteering? If yes, can you give it to someone else and does it expire or can you use it on another trp?
