Just adding my opinions here. I am not new to the DIS boards, but have only been posting on WISH since late January. And only joined the racing team in February. So I am pretty new around these parts. And I am brand new to running, only having started in late in January (and am now up to 7 miles for my long runs, thank you very much!

)
While I certainly appreciate the hard work of those on the committee...and I further believe that all of this was done with the best intentions and spirit possible, I do not really see the need to be so formal. This is, by definition, an informal internet community. The only real boss around here is Pete. And he has has WebMasters to help with the technical issues of running such a large site and the moderators to make sure the folks play by the rules. But that is all as far as structure goes.
A steering committee for one small section of the boards just doesn't seem to fit with the spirit of the DIS.
Now, speaking as a newcomer...YES, I would like to see things made a bit easier for those new to the forum. I am pretty outgoing and am very comfortable on the DIS, so I was able to find my way around, but only b/c I put myself out there and asked around. Someone new to the DIS or who just prefers to lurk would have a hard time finding out what and who and where all of the necessary info. is.
I think that a lot of these issues can be handled with some stickys just like the other boards. Have a post titled, "So you want to join a team..." for example. And boom...folks know what to do if they want to be on a team. And so on for the other issues out there.
This DIS is my down-time. It is my stress release. I come here for fun, friendship, and to share my ups and downs with my running and fitness program. And because I have a passion for Disney, I love that I can get all of that information with a touch of Disney magic. I don't necessarily want or need it to be anything more than that. And I certainly don't want the magic to go away....
