WISH Away the Pounds Outstanding October Challenge -- Everyone welcome!

FRIDAY OCTOBER 18 QOTD - rate the parks in order of your favorites

Magic Kingdom
Hollywood Studios (aka MGM)
Epcot
Animal Kingdom

Truthfully, right now I'd be happy to be in the parking lot! :rotfl2:

QOTD:

1. Epcot because I love strolling through World Showcase.
2. Magic Kingdom for the ...well, the magic of Disney itself. I love walking through Main Street and reading the windows.
3. Animal Kingdom because I love the greenery and Expedition Everest but don't care for the HEAT in that park.
4. Hollywood Studios is last because while I love the rides, it's such a small park and has the least amount of "Disney" in my mind.

Lisah0711 - Does you pedometer have a calibration feature? Maybe that needs to be done so you get full credit for all your hard work.

Even tho I really like my FitbitOne, I feel it is lacking in the capability of tracking certain activities, e.g., not a full stride step, bicycling, etc). With that being said I definitely feel that it is a useful tool that does give me information that is relevant-steps, floors, calories, connects to Myfitnesspal & connects easily to Walgreen's Balance Rewards Program (miles walked = points = credit to use in the store) so all in all I wear it clipped to me except for the shower :cool1:

Keenercam - Yay!! I am excited for you that you have this to look forward to. Which ports? St. Marten? St. Thomas

thanks! yes -our cruise includes -Nassau, St. Marten & St. Thomas. Actually, have not been to any of these ports so all will be new territory for us - Nassau, short stay & that's okay from the reports I read! Snorkel time planned for St. Thomas - nothing definite planned for St. Marten yet - ideas, suggestions anyone?

FRIDAY OCTOBER 18 QOTD - rate the parks in order of your favorites
well this is a hard question for me - WDW visits have always been fun and whatever park I'm in a great time, always something special to remember from each one! My personal WDW planner & guide (ohMom) has never let me down with park or resturant choice! :cheer2:

WISHing everone a good WI tomorrow -:flower3:

That is all such great news!! Congrats on all of it! I haven't played racquetball in years!! Have fun!!

Morning all! I'm here at school on a DINOSAUR of a computer. Morning was a bit nuts, as I didn't remember until I was showering that DS had to be to school an HOUR early! And he apparently didn't remember at all! So it was a mad dash to get us out the door..... he made it with no time to spare. I had to bring along my oatmeal in a thermos, but it was still good. Thank GOODNESS I got the crockpot set up last night for tonight's dinner, the small crockpot was making breakfast, I set up the coffee maker last night, AND I ironed my clothes. Otherwise we would NOT have made it.

Weigh in was a bit disappointing this morning.... up just a bit from last Friday's low... but not much. I really need to weigh-in for work this week and I will be up and out early Tuesday, so I will do it then, without breakfast in my belly. It may be the only way I am within my target range for the month. The evening weigh-ins (I check myself at my meetings on Tuesday night) aren't low enough.

I'll be back to chat around 9:30 when the kids go to Special! ...............P

WOW! that is a lot of GREAT news!!! :rockband:

...definite planned for St. Marten yet - ideas, suggestions anyone?

we were scheduled to go to St Maarten but didn't, but I had done some research on it. there are threads on the cruise board on St Maarten and different suggestions, even though different cruise line it still might be helpful. one private excursion company recommended is http://www.bernardstours.com/ We were going to do a beach day, the beaches are supposed to be wonderful. and shopping good too, great restaurants as well

Thank GOODNESS I got the crockpot set up last night for tonight's dinner, the small crockpot was making breakfast, I set up the coffee maker last night, AND I ironed my clothes. Otherwise we would NOT have made it.

Weigh in was a bit disappointing this morning....

you are SUPER DUPER organized!! :thumbsup2 sorry the WI wasn't friendly though reading your posts I have no doubt you will reclaim the numbers you like :goodvibes

ok I didn't elaborate on my list, and since everyone is I will join :teeth:

EPCOT -- shopping the countries, eating at the countries, Soarin'
AK -- Finding Nemo, Lion King, restaurants and atmosphere

AND...drumroll....I had a good WI for the second week in a row!! :woohoo: and I changed my clippie! how does it look on me?

South on Florida's Turnpike and take a right into my little slice of paradise! :beach:

FRIDAY OCTOBER 18 QOTD - rate the parks in order of your favorites

I have to agree with everyone else...this is a toughie, but here goes.

Epcot-simply because it's the most "grown-up" and the DH's favorite. Plus, since we've danced in every country (one of those silly, annoying, romantic things we do everywhere we go), it's rates high on the sentimental scale.

Animal Kingdom-really?? You have to ask??:dogdance::squirrel:

DHS-gotta love that Rockin-Roller Coaster and the Osbourne Lights :littleangel:

Magic Kingdom-too kiddie for the DH but he  the Country Bear Jamboree. Go figure. :confused3

Hellloooooooo.... where is everyone???

Yay. yay, and YAYYYYYY!!!!!! :cheer2:

I think this posting is rather ironic as I just had a "physical" for my life insurance. Imagine my shock when the agent called me and said the rate was going to be a little higher than she quoted because my cholesterol was 227! :scared1::scared1::scared1: Even the DH was shocked. His exact words were "I don't know anybody who eats better than you." UGH! :crazy2: What really has me freaked out is I just had it checked in February. My doc said it was high, but because of the GOOD cholesterol. So now I'm all confused. :scared: My BFF did point out that since going all-out vegetarian a few months back, I've been eating alot more shrimp. AHA moment! And I had no idea alcohol was a culprit too. Now, I can easily live without booze, so don't think I'm a total party girl, :drinking1 but you can bet your dupa what I do take in is going to be reserved for actual big time parties now! ::yes:: I've seen the side effects of the meds thanks to the DH and So don't want to go there. AND DMom has now been diagnosed with it and I know it was part of DDad's heart problems. Thank you Mother Nature. :scared: So kudos to you Knewton!! :thumbsup2

you are SUPER DUPER organized!! :thumbsup2 sorry the WI wasn't friendly though reading your posts I have no doubt you will reclaim the numbers you like :goodvibes

I try to be organized, but it isn't always so successful. But this morning I was definitely thanking my last-night self!!

I may even try another peek at the scales tomorrow.... I seem to have the "curse of the Friday" on me many Fridays but Saturday weigh-in is often better.

ok I didn't elaborate on my list, and since everyone is I will join :teeth:

Hollywood Studios -- ToT, 50sPT or SciFi, Toy Story Mania and atmosphere

CONGRATULATIONS on claiming a new clippie! It looks amazing on you! I hope you are really happy with yourself and I hope you take a moment to reflect on the new HEALTHY HABITS that helped you earn that clippie!!

*************

I see we are still quiet here today!

I will not be sharing the recipe I tried the other night.... it was just "okay" and not a winner in my book (crockpot apricot chicken). I thought that the "sauce" was too sweet and tasted a bit burned, even though the dish itself didn't burn. But tonight's already sounds like a winner! DS was commenting on how good it smelled even before it started cooking! Crockpot ratatioulle chicken casserole (although I am using lean pork loin so that my DS can eat it... plus I added more veggies for me!). I will definitely be sharing this one if it turns out as good as I hope! And YES, I know I'm not spelling ratatioulle right.... but I am having a blonde moment! :rotfl:

My mom wants me to write a family cookbook and share some of my better healthy recipes and I meant to take a picture of all of the ingredients in the crockpot this morning, but I forgot in my rush. Do you think DH will think I'm crazy if I call home and ask him to do it??:lmao:

Off to chat on the Budget Board!...........P

FRIDAY OCTOBER 18 QOTD - rate the parks in order of your favorites

Mine are:
Magic Kingdom - I feel closest to Walt and Mickey there. I love walking down Main Street. And Howard and I had a private photo session at 5:45 on the morning of our vow renewal through Disney Fairy Tale Weddings :bride: , so I feel an outrageously huge love for the castle that I feel is "mine". :)

EPCOT - Love World Showcase and since most of the Disney marathons and half-marathons end in the EPCOT parking lot, I always have a feeling of well-being and happiness there.

Hollywood Studios

All of this is WONDERFUL news! Congratulations! All of your hard work is paying off in big ways!

Morning all! I'm here at school on a DINOSAUR of a computer. Morning was a bit nuts, as I didn't remember until I was showering that DS had to be to school an HOUR early! You are SOOOOO amazingly organized!!! I am really impressed! Sorry the scale isn't cooperating. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Good morning all!

Thanks for all those PMs that were waiting for me this morning -- all of our pretty colors are updated through the reports I've received as of now. :cool2:

Remember there are still 13 days left in this challenge -- lots of time to hit those goals and more. ::yes::

Pamela, sounds like you made the most of your day off yesterday and are ready for your fabulous trip next week! :cool2:

Good morning, everyone!

Had a surprisingly good weigh in this morning. There is no rhyme or reason. I should have gained about 2 pounds based on what I ate and the fact that I had no exercise for an entire week, and instead I lost. So weird.

:woohoo: You have been working hard and obviously were right back on track after your trip.

I don't know why it takes so much time for hard work to show on the scale when it seems like the bad stuff shows up two seconds later. :confused3

FRIDAY OCTOBER 18 QOTD - rate the parks in order of your favorites

since I hope to catch up on some sleep tomorrow morning, i'm going to go ahead and answer. this is a hardish one though ....

Hollywood Studios
Magic Kingdom
EPCOT
Animal Kingdom

but I  them all!! a day at either or any is a day of heaven!

Thanks for coaching this week, Molli! No worries. :goodvibes

My parks rankings are:
Disneyland (my home park for more than 50 years!)
EPCOT
Magic Kingdom
DCA and Animal Kingdom (tied)
DHS

Seriously? I killed the thread? OH MY GOSH! I can't believe no one has posted since before lunch time!

LOL, Pamela, I think we have to go a few days before someone is officially called a threadkiller and that has never happened on any of our challenges that I recall, even those summer ones a couple of years ago that had the tumbleweeds blowing through. ;)

Magic Kingdom
Hollywood Studios (aka MGM)
Epcot
Animal Kingdom

Truthfully, right now I'd be happy to be in the parking lot! :rotfl2:

Sounds like it is perfect for you! :cool2: And getting healthy and earning credits.

I think about switching to a FitBit when my ActiveLink goes out someday but I've read about a lot of technical problems with them.

I'm not surprised to hear that you have an excellent Disney tour guide! ::yes::

1) I have made goal for the week!:cool1:

Congratulations on the scale and NSV victories! :cool2: You've had a great year so far!

I hit 100% on my ActiveLink yesterday so I am off to a good start for the week on that -- my WW week ends on Thursdays. It is set pretty low but I am moving so that is good. :hippie: I had a cortisone shot in my knee yesterday, which was not as bad as it sounds. Depending on what the underlying issue is this should do the trick or the next step is an MRI. I would rather not go there unless I really have to thanks to my high deductible. :sad2: Still lots of time to ramp up and be ready for the Princess. princess:

Have a great day all!

from ohMom ...AND...drumroll....I had a good WI for the second week in a row!! and I changed my clippie! how does it look on me?

that clippie is well deserved and it looks FABULOUS on you!!!:cheer2::cheer2:

I am joining you in the happy dance down 2.5 for me today - Thank you so much for prompting me to join this challenge this month - exactly what I needed to get my buns in gear! It really is more fun to be happy dancing with you (and others) than to be sitting on the sidelines thinking about I really need to get moving, if only I would have, etc.....

Thought today would be my exercise day off but DH wants to hike this afternoon & so we are- why not! Dinner tonight with my high school friends group - I looked at the menu of the restuarant & I'm not very excited about choices tho there is a caesar salad that could attract me (I'm just not that much into burgers & fried food) but who knows after a nice hike I just might change my mind! and yes- there will definitely be a glass of vino! ;)

Knewton 64 -you rock!! :thumbsup2

Pjlla- whew you are speedy :drive: great job - you've earned the rest of the day at a snail's pace in my view ::yes::

Had a great weight in this morning! I am only 1.8 pounds from this months goal weight!! I'm feeling so great already and it's only been one month of a better lifestyle!

I doubt I will have much time to get on today, as I am being a busy housecleaning bee; but I wanted to wish everyone good luck on their weigh ins today!!

P.S. I talked my Mom into downloading MY Fitness Pal and she is hooked! She's been at it a week and is making so many better choices, and I couldn't be more proud of her! It's a small step in the right direction for her health!

Can I skip today's question :lmao: it's too hard!!
1) Magic Kingdom- because, well you all know why!;)
2) Animal Kingdom- I actually love this park! I love animals so I think that has a lot to do with it. But I find it to be a peaceful park compared to the hustle and bustle of the other three parks. I love EE too!!
3) EPCOT- I can't believe I'm putting EPCOT here. I LOVE EPCOT! I love Test Track, and Soarin, and the smell of the Land! But I am a very picky eater, so I don't eat anything in the World Showcase, so I think this has a big part of why EPCOT is so low.
4) MGM- yes, it is MGM :) I can't believe MGM is this low for me as well! I love going here! I love TSM and Star Tours, I also love drawing a Disney Character every visit. It's a family tradition! But I don't live TOT or RRC, so I think this has something to do with it. Have a great Friday everyone!

:scared1::scared1::scared1: I am SO SO VERY sorry everyone! I forgot to post a question this morning!!!! I was in and out all day, another busy day and it truly slipped my mind! jeesh, 5 days of coaching and I miss one!! i'm so sorry!!!!

ok, island time...yes, need island time...send directions!!

I just returned home from a dinner out and though the portions were right the food offerings i'm sure were over the calories I had left for the day. on the way there I thought..why did I schedule this the night before WI?!?

Oh soo hard !! but here goes

Animal Kingdom - just love the feeling, the sights, the sounds, the animals, the shows EVERYTHING!
Epcot - I would say is second because it was my kids first park way back when they were eight and five and to them it was soo much fun to "travel" to the different country!
Magic Kingdom - because it is just DISNEY-HOME to me!
MGM - (lol it will always be this to me) - while on my last trip I did manage to spend 3/4 of day there I just feel like as long as I see Fantasmic, the Muppets, and ride the Great Movie ride I'm good - well now add Toy Story Mania on too ..

T.T.F.N.

this is just fantastic news! how awesome for you ! I am so proud of you.. keep up the GREAT Work!

so I went for my 3 month diabetes check today.. I knew it was going to be bad.. for the past month or so my sugar has been high, my weight has been creeping up and my clothes are TIGHT.. While I have been taking my sugar every morning and seeing the number on the high side I seem to be continuing to eat poorly.. I asked him about my hip pain and after he looked and poked and pulled on my leg some he said it sounds like bursitis and to ice and take advil for the pain (but he didn't say to not continue Zumba so I'll still be attending class on TH nights) and if it's worse or not getting any better before my next appt to call in and we'll try the PT route..the worst part for me though was when I stepped on his scales (mine first thing before a shower was 179.8) was 183.0 which is only 2.2 less then what I started at way back in Jan.. I am sure my A1C will be higher then 5.4 this time .. I am just finding it hard to get back up on the wagon after a summer of Bread, Fruit and Chips! I got rid of all my bigger clothes so I need to kick it back up because I am not buying any more! so i am going to try NO I AM GOING TO GET MY ACT TOGETHER over the weekend - make a plan for the next few weeks and STICK TO IT! I will PM my weight and set a new goal for the the next 13 days..

Hope everyone has a stellar weekend and I'll see you all on Monday because I have a short day a work today! :wave2:

FRIDAY OCTOBER 18 QOTD - rate the parks in order of your favorites

Magic Kingdom. Disneyland was the first park I ever went to but I had been seeing the parks on World of Disney on tv. Magic Kingdom has the rides I got to see on tv and in DL before I even for to the world. It makes me feel like a kid again. I love everything about it.

Epcot I love the land and soaring. Dh and I love to see turtle talk with crush even though we don't have little kids any more. I love to walk around world showcase and just stop and look.

MGM and AK are like a tie for me. I love TSM and ST and some great restaurants in MGM but I did fall in love with finding nemo and legend of the lion king when we went this past Aug.

LOL, Pamela, I think we have to go a few days before someone is officially called a threadkiller and that has never happened on any of our challenges that I recall, even those summer ones a couple of years ago that had the tumbleweeds blowing through. ;)

:wave2:

WOOHOO on getting your act back together and DOUBLE WOOHOO on making a plan! Feel free to share your plan!!

Evening friends! I'm done with work, but still have a long evening ahead. DS is working lights for two one-act student-directed plays that are tonight. And of course, there is the post-show trip out for burgers. DS doesn't drive yet and I don't know any of the other kids well enough to trust him to ride with them, so of course, I will be the driving Mom tonight. I will take him (and any other friends who need a ride) about 30 minutes to the nearest big town, hang around in the car while they eat and talk and such, and then drive them home. Wish I could say I would find something to do, but it will be after 10pm, so no stores open and I am NOT walking outside in the dark in the "big city" of Concord! Maybe I'll just go to Wendy's and get a coffee and use the wifi for a bit and maybe bring along a good book.

Got a taste of tonight's crockpot meal and it is YUMMY! I will serve myself a full portion about 5:30.... but I wanted to check it before DS grabbed some earlier.

Bad headache today, so I am going to rest for a bit before heading out to the play about 6:30. I'll pop on while I'm out tonight if I can...............P

Weekend QOTD - it's getting chilly and that means soup at my house ...do you have a favorite healthy soup recipe to share?

Ugh. I never seem to get on here! I did just go back and read all the posts for this past week.

Cruising QOTD: I have never gone on one, but my parents are HUGE cruisers. Mostly Princess and then they do river cruises. They just got back from the Tennessee River (I think that's what it was!). This spring they spent a month cruising around Hawaii and down to Australia and then another month going around New Zealand and Australia. What a life! And they are by no means wealthy, just live small and save every penny for their trips.

Parks are hard to rate because they are all so very different. I think MK, EPCOT, AK, HS. I love them all!

Soup: My quickie soup I make is 1 c lentils to 4 c water (or broth), onion and a dash of lemon pepper. The recipe calls for asparagus but I usually throw in a can of green beans since I always have that. Cook 45 min., blend and add some Swiss cheese (or whatever since I rarely have Swiss). In fact I frequently leave out the cheese. Reheat and serve with a dollop of sour cream. (A step I frequently leave out). Just eat it!!

I have a cookbook that has soup and bread recipes. Very yummy.

BOTH of my current favorite recipes were from friends here! I don't want to step on toes and post them as mine, so I will skip the "top two" for now (but I will definitely post them if the original posters don't!)

Here is a recipe of my own (inspired by my Mom)! Kale and mushroom soup... be sure to follow the directions for browning the mushrooms.... it gives them great taste and the mushrooms are really the "meat" in this recipe.

SUPER QOTD! I'm so excited for new recipes! If anyone is interested they could be cross-posted on the WISH away the pounds healthy recipe thread!

This sounds a bit like a split pea soup! I'll have to try it. Any specific kind of lentils???

Morning all! Feeling a bit "run over" this morning. Never really got past yesterday's headache and ended up being up until almost 12:30 (after I drove DS and his friend out and home again after the play.... and add to that a long detour due to a powerline fire!). And up at 7 am this morning to get DS to his paintball tournament. Thank GOODNESS the paintball park is only a few miles from home! Those of you who know me, know that almost NOTHING is close to my house!!

Laundry is chugging along, last night's crockpot has been washed (I rarely leave dishes in the sink, but I was too wiped out last night, so I let it soak), Facebook has been checked (yup, nothing important, as I suspected :rotfl: ), and breakfast consumed (by DS and I... DH is still asleep). I don't have anything scheduled for today, but since I am working a good portion of tomorrow, I will stay busy today with house chores, exercise, etc.

I would have walked first thing this morning, but I was SO HUNGRY when I got up! So I will walk a bit later.

I can hear that the washer has stopped, so that means the first load is ready for the clothesline! I'll say bye for now and BBL to chat!..............P

ETA: I'm posting last night's dinner recipe on the recipe thread today! It was delicious! And super "light" (although I haven't figured it out in E-tools yet).
