WISH Away the Pounds June Challenge -- Starting a Successful Summer!

Another fly by post here! :moped:

I am ready to start my coaching gig tomorrow! :goodvibes

I will post my first question later tonight as I am flying tomorrow. I'll be coaching from AZ where it is expected to be 106! :cool2:

Keep up the good work and good luck to everyone on the scale tomorrow. :cool2:

Happy Thursday everyone!!

The first week of the challenge is coming to an end! Since we have so many newbies, here a reminder of how reporting the weight works:

You PM your NEW WEIGHT (not your loss) to me, Flossbolna, your hostess. I will track everyone's report and update the first page with everyone's results.

It is extremely helpful if you write the date and your current weight in the subject line of the PM, makes things easier for me.

You can email me your results anytime during the weekend, I will update until Monday evening (most likely will do some interim updates!).

I hope everyone will have a fabulous Friday tomorrow and a great result on the scale (I am not expecting a good result for me though...).

On to a question of the day:

What is you favourite type of exercise?

Mine are swimming and hiking - both of which I do not nearly as often as I should!

Thanks for the reminder!!On to a question of the day:

What is you favourite type of exercise?

Well, unfortunately my gut reaction is to say NONE! Which is why I have so much trouble staying on track with my workouts. However, if forced to name something I will say cleaning! I like PRODUCTIVE workouts!

******************

Last minute switcheroo here, so I went from being a 1-2 grade reading helper to being a 2nd grade classroom teacher. I actually prefer that! But they are raising chicks here and the heatlamp is making the room an unpleasant, humid 80+ degrees, even on this cool rainy day! Windows are open and fans are blowing, but the kids are still wilting a bit.

DD did another commute to Boston today, with a longer drive and a train ride rather than the bus to the subway. But she did it with no problem! I am so proud of my country girl for making the transition to city commuter!

Well, this computer is SO slow that it has taken me nearly 30 minutes just to get this post to finish! I'll try to pop on again at recess time, but the rain may force recess indoors, which means kids will be using the computers. TTYL...............P

Happy Thursday everyone!!

On to a question of the day:

What is you favourite type of exercise?

My initial reaction was NONE! I am trying to find something that I like to do, but I get bored and then I give up. I am about to buy a treadmill, because I think I might be able to stick with that.

What do you think is your worst unhealthy habit and have you taken any steps to change that yet?

I think that my worst unhealthy habit is procrastination - which is unhealthy on so many levels. Until about three weeks ago, I was trapped in the fantasy that "I'll start tomorrow", "I'll start when the ice cream is gone", "I'll start Monday", blah, blah, blah. It's not a fun place to be.

But, now that I have "started", I feel SOOOOOOO much better.

What is you favourite type of exercise?

Definitely running. And, by running, I mean long walks with short intervals of slow jogging. I wouldn't want to overdo it, ya know. ;) My only issue is that if I don't have a race on the calendar, it is way too easy to skip runs. I really need to register for a race and get on with it.

---
I'm about to head out to DD's school for her class party. Y'all have a great afternoon! :thumbsup2

What is you favourite type of exercise?

Mine are swimming and hiking - both of which I do not nearly as often as I should!

At the beginning of the year, I would have said swimming. But since starting to run in January, I have really embraced it! But topping them both is GOLF! :)

On to a question of the day: What is you favourite type of exercise?

I used to do xbox kinect and wii exercise games, but my days are so busy and when I get home I'm beat. Hoping that with the warmer weather I'll swim, because that is my favorite, but I can see me pulling out the lounger and floating to rest for a while!

Good morning all! :goodvibes

I'm Lisa and I will be your coach for the next few days.

A friendly reminder that today is weigh in day! Please PM your results to our lovely hostess, Flossbolna (Magdalene), using the date and your weight as the subject line to help her out. Good luck to everyone!

I'm down .2 -- not setting the world on fire but any loss is a good loss in my book. :hippie: I'm counting on you all for the coaching effect and a good loss next week! :cool2:

I thought I would start off with a fun question for this Friday.

It looks like a lot of fun and something I would totally enjoy doing if I was going to be at WDW at that time. ::yes::

Which leads me to the QOTD for Friday, June 6, 2014: Who is your favorite Disney villain and why?

BRB with replies.

Down 1.5 lbs. Not a huge amount but I'll take it. Was a little worried to get on the scale this morning because I had two days this week when my supper choice was not the best. Seeing the scale go down even if it is tiny bits at a time is better than seeing it go up.

The original post says to PM Flossbolna our weight every Friday but the previous post says to PM Magdalene. I already PM'd Flossbolna before I saw previous post. Please let me know if I have to PM someone else.

Saturday night is my best friend's bachelorette Party. We are starting with supper and then possibly going for daiquiris. Going to do my best to not over do it.

I do not have a favorite Villain of the top of my head. I'll have to think on that.

I thought I would start off with a fun question for this Friday.

Did you see that there is going to be a special event at Disneyworld featuring the Villains?

I SAW THAT on FB yesterday I was SUPER EXCITED! I'd love to be able to attend someday! Not that I am a huge villains fan, but I LOVE rare characters!

I think I'd make a special trip.... if I wasn't paying college tuition bills right now..... :worried:

Which leads me to the QOTD for Friday, June 6, 2014: Who is your favorite Disney villain and why?

BRB with replies.

Not sure I have a favorite....I'll have to think a little! I'll answer later. Fabulous QOTD btw!!!

************************

Morning all.... let's just say that this.... :furious: and then this...... :confused3 were my facial expressions after getting on the scale this morning. I've got nothing more to say on the matter for now.....:headache:

Off to teach GYM (aka PE) to 1st-4th graders today! I was really praying that the weather would cooperate and I could let them play outside. We have a great playground with terrific equipment. But alas, it is cloudy and showers are reported. I'll play it by ear and if it clears, I will go out.... otherwise we do stations inside with hula hoops, jump ropes, basketball, etc.

Yard sale is tomorrow and I'm not feeling ready! Our donations have been minimal, at best. Fingers crossed that people bring stuff tonight and early tomorrow! My original goal was $1,000 but I'd be delighted with $500 at this point.

Time to call DD and make sure that she is up and moving. Things went great with her commute over the last few days and it really built up her confidence that she CAN get herself into Boston on a regular basis without any trouble! And her time at the aquarium was ...... She truly knows where she belongs!

Off to finish making my breakfast and make sure that my bag is ready for the day! No computer access today in gym, so you probably won't hear from me until at least tomorrow! TTYL....................P

What is you favourite type of exercise?

My favorite type of exercise is running -- but mostly when I am done with it. :rotfl: I also love doing the Riverwalk at my local pool (walking and exercising against the current) and yoga at my local fitness center.

Well, unfortunately my gut reaction is to say NONE! Which is why I have so much trouble staying on track with my workouts. However, if forced to name something I will say cleaning! I like PRODUCTIVE workouts!

As you know all activity counts in the WW world as long as you are over your baseline. I bet you get more from your every day activity level than many people do with more formal exercise. Somewhere there is an exercise that you will love.

My initial reaction was NONE! I am trying to find something that I like to do, but I get bored and then I give up. I am about to buy a treadmill, because I think I might be able to stick with that.

Boredom is an exercise enjoyment killer for sure. Lots of folks watch their iPad on the TM at the gym. Maybe have a book that you can only read or listen to on the TM or a movie you can only watch on the TM. You can do it!:thumbsup2

I'm a procrastinator, too, Connie. It makes life so much harder than it needs to be. :rotfl2:

Interval running is da bomb -- it's the only way that I can run. It really does help to always have a race that you are registered for on the calendar.

At the beginning of the year, I would have said swimming. But since starting to run in January, I have really embraced it! But topping them both is GOLF! :)

Golf is fun and you get to be outside and hopefully see some interesting wildlife. :cool2:

I used to do xbox kinect and wii exercise games, but my days are so busy and when I get home I'm beat. Hoping that with the warmer weather I'll swim, because that is my favorite, but I can see me pulling out the lounger and floating to rest for a while!

Swimming is great exercise! :beach:

Flossbolna is our hostess' user name and her real name is Magdalene -- I edited the post to clarify -- sorry for the confusion. :flower3: When in doubt always follow the instructions in the first couple of posts.

Not sure I have a favorite....I'll have to think a little! I'll answer later. Fabulous QOTD btw!!!

Thanks! It's fun to talk about something brand new at WDW.

Morning all.... let's just say that this.... :furious: and then this...... :confused3 were my facial expressions after getting on the scale this morning. I've got nothing more to say on the matter for now.....:headache:

Sorry for the scale headache today, Pamela. I'm sure it is just a temporary blip. At my WW meeting every week our leader writes on the board "Had a bad week? You have 30 minutes to get over it!" It's a good reminder to live, learn and move on. :hippie:

I will be travelling for the rest of the day but will try and get back on again later today.

What do you think is your worst unhealthy habit and have you taken any steps to change that yet?
I would say equally procrastination and binge stress eating.
For both, I try to stay as organized and plan as much as I can and that helps. As soon as I stop having a plan, forget it.
So I guess that brings up the thought, that planning is just masking the issue and I have not really dealt with either one....Hmmm....little light bulb moment. Because in 2010 when I lost all the weight I really thought I had a handle on the binge eating, but have found over the last two years that is so not true.
Good question. I need to think about this some more. :)
I also think part of the problem is that I know if I don't plan I will 'fail'. Hence the Red Robin take out for dinner last night. ;)
So maybe the real issue is that I know what to do to succeed, but I keep setting myself up to fail on purpose....

You PM your NEW WEIGHT (not your loss) to me, Flossbolna, your hostess. I will track everyone's report and update the first page with everyone's results.

What is you favourite type of exercise?
Still haven't set a goal or sent in a weight yet...

Favorite exercise...I love to run and I love how I feel afterwards, but it is so hard on my body. I would still call myself a runner, but I have been walking/hiking with Mike and Jessie more lately and that is probably my favorite!

Which leads me to the QOTD for Friday, June 6, 2014: Who is your favorite Disney villain and why?

BRB with replies.
My favorite villain right now is the Evil Queen--the Once Upon a Time version--Regina. I really like her and was kind of heart broken at the end of this year's season with the way things worked out. I think she is very misunderstood. :) I also kind of like Ursula--don't ask my why, cause she really is quite awful!

Well for me its Zumba! I go to a class on Tues and Thurs and I just got my Wii Zumba belt to go with the game I purchased at an on-line yard sale.. I have tried it twice now.. IT's a GOOD workout!!

Good morning all! :goodvibes

I am down a bit over 3 lbs.. thankfully! I will be starting back on my weekly Bydureon shot today (my numbers are high again and diet alone isn't helping) it's supposed to keep the food in your stomach longer therefor maybe resulting in some weight loss .. We'll see..

I wish i could go to the Villans event - but alas my trip is scheduled for the end of Sept early Oct sooo no go for me.. I think Hook is fave.. I like him in the Peter Pan movies but I LOVE HIM on Once Upon a Time.. not only is he handsome but he is also trying to do the right thing because of his love for Emma and Henry. I can't wait till it comes back on!!!

I'm down .2 -- not setting the world on fire but any loss is a good loss in my book.

Yes ma'am, it sure is! :cheer2: for your .2!

Which leads me to the QOTD for Friday, June 6, 2014: Who is your favorite Disney villain and why?

Two answers...

My "favorite" villain is Ursula. Mostly just because "Poor Unfortunate Souls" is just fun to sing along with.

The only villain that actually gives me the creeps... Mother Gothel. Even though Rapunzel had all the real "power" in that story, Gothel manipulated and abused and controlled her. I have seen that happen to people in my life and it's just heartbreaking. Gothel represents a "real life" villain rather than just a Disney fantasy villain and, yikes, she completely creeps me out.

Down 1.5 lbs. Not a huge amount but I'll take it.

ANY loss is victory! And, for me personally, a one-week loss over 1lb, is backflip-worthy. :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

The original post says to PM Flossbolna our weight every Friday but the previous post says to PM Magdalene. I already PM'd Flossbolna before I saw previous post. Please let me know if I have to PM someone else.

Same person. Flossbolna is her screen name and Magdalene is her real life name.

Or, so she tells us, anyway. :rolleyes1 She could be hiding out with a fake name for all I know. :rotfl:

(Forgive me. I have a stupid sense of humor sometimes. And, it's Friday. So, I'm in a goofy mood.)

Morning all.... let's just say that this.... :furious: and then this...... :confused3 were my facial expressions after getting on the scale this morning. I've got nothing more to say on the matter for now.....:headache:

Just because your scale may not be in on the secret, don't let it bother you. We all know that you take really good care of yourself and your family. Just go on and celebrate your awesome self today!

I hear hula-hooping is great for the core... I should re-learn how to do that.

I recognize this "all or nothing" behavior. I *SO* feel ya!

I am down a bit over 3 lbs..

Outstanding! :cheer2::yay::cool1:

Oh, and, I'm down TWO POUNDS this week and I am feeling pretty darn fantastic about that! :yay::yay::yay:

Oh, and, I'm down TWO POUNDS this week and I am feeling pretty darn fantastic about that! :yay::yay::yay:

Congrats on such a big SWOOSSH! I love to see the scale do that, especially when it seems to be "stuck" for a bit. What a great start to the weekend!:cheer2:

Good morning all! :goodvibes

I'm sorry my travels kept me off the computer the rest of yesterday. It should be better the rest of the time I am coaching -- even though it is totally crazy and hot here in AZ. :rotfl:

Please be sure to report your weigh in results if you haven't already!

Yesterday we talked about villains, continuing in that theme, let's talk about stealth . . . stealth health! With a little help from our friends at sparkpeople.com, of course, and this lovely picture from Disney Pixar movie Planes. (okay it's a stretch but I am using my ability to tie anything to Disney!)

Disney-planes-pictures-10.jpg

10 Sneaky Ways to Get Fit and Healthy—Without Really Trying

Faster than a speeding bullet, there's a new approach to healthy living can make you fit as a fiddle. And it's as easy as 1-2-3!

It's called "stealth health" and it's a philosophy that's gaining ground among experts, food manufacturers—and people who want to live a healthier life. Even if you haven't heard of it (I hadn't either), you're probably already using these principles into your life. The concept, as explained in this WebMD article is nothing new to most of us at SparkPeople. It's about taking small actions every day to improve your health, nutrition and fitness levels in BIG ways. We've been advocating a small-steps approach for years, whether in the form of 10-minute workouts or fast break goals. We believe that doing something is always better than doing nothing. And yes, that 10 minutes on the treadmill or that single serving of vegetables DOES make a difference.

When you start small, you feel accomplished. That initial success inspires you to make additional positive changes in your life. So you continue, getting healthier, fitter, and leaner over time—all by starting with a few small changes.

Here are some ideas:

Choose fruit to quell a sweet tooth.

Practice good posture in front of the computer.

Add fruit to pancakes, waffles, ice cream and other desserts.

Sit on a stability ball.

Commit to 10 minutes of fitness.

Look motivational blogs and websites.

Practice portion control.

Add more veggies to frozen meals.

Walk through the office.

Exercise in front of the TV.

Here is a link to the entire article if you are interested http://www.sparkpeople.com/blog/blo...s_to_get_fit_and_healthywithout_really_trying

Which leads me to the QOTD for Saturday, 6/7/14 and Sunday, 6/8/14: What small changes have you made that have added up to big results for you?

BBL with replies and my own answer.
