WISH Away the Pounds -- Jolly June AND JULY Challenge -- Everyone Welcome!

I've never tried a Zone bar. How are they? What kind of calories do they have? I love Larabars, but they have too many calories to enjoy them every often!
The peanut butter ones are delicious and contain 210 calories, but they also have 14g of protien - what your body needs after a workout. When eaten with a large glass of water, my hunger is satisfied for hours.

Hi everyone, I'm back home, all unpacked, laundry sorted etc. Stepped on the scales this morning and could have cried...5.5lbs on in 6 days despite the 'good' food choices and the exercise. Just shows how bad pre-prepared food can be even when you think it's healthy.

Straight back on my eating plan tomorrow, and back to exercise 3 times a week instead of twice a day!!! Hopefully I can get rid of the gain pretty quickly!!

I've taken a few pictures of the lovely area I've been walking/jogging in for the last week, so I'll post a few tomorrow for inspiration.

QOTD for Friday, June 7, 2013:

On another thread here as well as at WW this week, we've been talking BREAKFAST! Do you eat breakfast every day? Do you think that is important to eat breakfast? What do you have for breakfast? If you don't eat breakfast, why not?

Yup, breakfast every day for me, cereal, yoghurt and fruit for me during the week and toast or eggs for me on a weekend.

I never used to eat breakfast at all, but then by 10:00am I'd be reaching for bad stuff, this way I can manage until lunchtime without going off the rails!

See you all tomorrow with a new QOTD.

Tmi- but you know watching the scale while having cramps sucks big ones. I am up 3 lbs despite eating better and exercising.
That is all.

This is my message to myself for today.
I want this week to be over!!!

Pamela tell DS and DD congrats on the awards!!

DS16 got a small award last night at the track banquet for effort. Don't remember the whole title, but basically it's because he consistently improved over the course of the season. I really think he should have gotten most improved but 2 freshman got it.

I just hope DS gets stuff next year because the majority of the awards go to seniors and he will be a senior next year.

On my way out to school. BBL to chat!.....................P

I never ate breakfast except to hit the fast food places on my way to work. I found I really need to get something but don't have a lot of time. So now I take an extra five minutes while I'm feeding/walking the dog and have protein shake or a "Right Size Smoothie" mix shake, both made with a cup of soy milk and ice cubes. I feel really full and am not interested in food until lunch. Without it, I really overeat later and I have a harder time losing weight if I don't start my day with the shake. The Right Size mix is very expensive compared to other powders, but it has more nutrients and works for me. Plus it's chocolate :goodvibes And I would have spent about $4.00 a day on McDonald's breakfast at the drive through, so it all comes out in the wash.

Have a good week everyone. I really appreciate the support here; I lurk a lot and post only a little, but it makes a big difference reading the boards. :beach:

Glad we are helping! I'm happy that you were able to find a new healthier breakfast choice!

Will do!

Next year is his year!:thumbsup2

Here at the Y waiting for DD's practice to be over. I did hit the TM but it wasn't a real intense workout....just not feeling it today.

Once the weather clears today I will probably get plenty of exercise out in the yard. DD and I are attending a wedding tomorrow so I won't have much time for yard work tomorrow.

Took DS out for a celebratory dinner last night (for his award). He chose Applebee's so I was delighted! I got the WW Napa chicken and portabellos with double veggies instead of the potatoes...but I did indulge in three of DS's onion rings. :rolleyes1 and I managed to talk him into dessert at home with the promise of ice cream and hot fudge...which ended up cheaper than the dessert plus tax and tip would have cost me at the restaurant. Plus I was able to resist the temptation of restaurant dessert...I had a Skinny Cow individual ice cream cup....something I don't have very often. Didn't care much for the flavor I chose though!

I'll post a QOTD soon if I don't see one posted!.............P

Well here I am, another week started, determined to stay on track and get rid of my conference gain.......which brings me to todays.........

QOTD Saturday 8th June 2013
What are you specifically going to do today (or tomorrow) that will help you stay on track for the next 7 days???

I've planned all of my meals for the coming week and have been out shopping to buy ONLY what I need to stick to plan.

Also, I've signed up for my first 'proper' 5K!! It's on 6th July and is a charity event in aid of our local air ambulance service. :woohoo:

Have a good day everyone, will be back later to see what you are all up to,

I'm sorry I've been MIA the past couple of days. Since the kids are out of school now, we're trying to figure out a new "normal."

I only lost a half a pound this week. :sad2: My new shoes were only used once, so...

I'm going to go sign up at the gym today.

Work is pretty crazy this weekend, so I'll be back on Monday to catch up. Have a great weekend, everyone, and here's to making healthy choices!

We tell our boys, if you are not hungry enough to eat an apple, you are not hungry.

Love it!

QOTD:
I plan to stay on track by eating all the veggies in my fridge. I have spaghetti squash, kale, spinach, tomatoes and cucumber. I will be chugging green smoothies, even though I rather be swimming in comfort foods right now. Why is it when your body aches it craves the things it needs least.

Very exciting about your 5K! :)

I logged into my fitness pal this morning and I am determined to stick with it. Today I will plan my meals and exercise for the week. I will also plan some fun things to do this week that don't involve food. :goodvibes I will post at least once a day, to hold myself accountable and be honest about my progress.

I am hoping I have finally reached rock bottom, before things get much worse. I saw a decade on the scale that I did not think I would ever see again. We made the very difficult decision this week to let one of our dogs go. The vet determined several weeks ago that he had doggie dementia and he was rapidly going down hill. It's been going on since last summer, but the last two months have been really challenging and getting worse every day. We have been running on 4-5 hours a sleep a night for months. So while it has been a very sad week at our house, we are slowly working on getting back to normal and getting on a schedule. Having this kind of stuff going on is no excuse for eating so poorly, but I did it, I am owning it, and I am trying to move forward this week.

Have a good Sunday!

Rose & Mike, so sorry to hear about your canine buddy, unfortunately the time comes to all of our pets eventually. Just remember the good times.:littleangel:

Sorry I did not post a QOTD today...I was busy doing a practice 5K on the course where the real one is going to be that I have entered. Completed it in 39:59...managed to jog quite a bit of it this time. :woohoo:
I'm going to do one at the gym on a Wednesday and one on the road each weekend.

It's very quiet on here at the moment, so I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend and taking advantage of the ever-improving weather.:goodvibes

I let me quilt group go. Which I know sounds crazy but as much as I love quilting, I always ended up grabbing fast food on my way there. Not to mention the meals out - like our brunch this morning - weren't the best for my waist or check book.

I logged into my fitness pal this morning and I am determined to stick with it.
I'm sorry you lost a family member. :sad1: Would it help you stay on track if I 'friended' you in My Fitness Pal and sent encouraging notes? I'm a big fan of MFP.

Good evening everyone.

I need to join in on this month. I am sorry I have been missing in action for the last few weeks. Life has been pretty busy here.

I need to lose some weight by the end of Aug since tonight I am booking a trip to DW. It started a couple of weeks ago. My birthday was May 29th. I opened my email and there was a pin code for free dining the end of AUg just before I go back to school. I was reading my horoscope for my birthday and it said to book and Aug trip. The next day I opened another email and there was another pin code. The last straw was a mailing that came to the house with a pin code.

Dh could have thrown it out and not tell me about but he held on to it and left it on the table. We did talk about it last week in passing and we said we couldn't do it. Yesterday we went on a long drive and he brought it up. We decided we would do it but not tell anyone about it. So I have to tell someone so I am here.

SInce we would be staying at Pop Century we would only have the counter serve meals but that is fine with us. The package was a great price including room food and tickets. Now the only thing that is dragging me down it the price of the airfare. (Please send Pixie dust that I can get a good fare) Dh said just book something. We are going.

This is a big celebration for us. We will be celebrating 35 years of marriage in Aug and at the end of the month dh will be retiring. Add on that both of our sets parents are not in the best of health I think we could use a week to ourselves.

Rose I am sorry to hear about your dog. It is so sad when that happens. I had to put our last dog down while my dh and sons were at the Boy Scout Jamboree. It was tough.

Pamela and B&MB congrats on all the awards.

Off to finish dinner.
Have a happy and healthy day.

Late to the party yet again! But I think I have a good excuse!

Flew to WDW for Star Wars Weekend on May 31st! Had the time of our lives! Girls got to meet Ashley Eckstein, their idol and get a hug, autograph and photo with her. Also met Sam Witwer. Things were going great!

On Saturday night I started coughing and had a pretty bad sore throat. Flew home very late Sunday night after weather delays in Orlando. Got home at 1:30am. Felt absolutely awful on Monday and slept most of the day. Got up Tuesday not feeling great but went to work. By 2pm I was ready to pass out. Picked up Lizzie and went to grocery store and then home and right to the couch. 101.7 temp. Went to dr on Wednesday morning and was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection. Hardly moved the rest of the day or Thursday. Felt a big better on Friday and went to work for 1 client. Saturday morning got up with the worst sinus headache ever! Went straight to dr and they agreed that the Zpack wasn't working. Changed the antibiotic plus added flonase and a stronger cough medicine. Didn't leave the house all day and slept off and on. Now add to this Ashleigh developing a fever opening night of her middle school play and missing school on Friday. Lizzie hasn't been feeling well since Wednesday and fell asleep 2 days as soon as she got home from school. She's now got a high fever and horrible cough. She's staying home with me tomorrow.

I never even got to the middle school play at all and I was supposed to run the cast party this afternoon. I slept almost all afternoon with Lizzie cuddled next to me! Luckily I had planned ahead yesterday.

Happy to say tonight I am finally feeling better. The 3 day sinus headache is finally gone. I haven't been eating a lot but not the best either. Trying to take in a lot of fluids. Hoping to feel well enough to take a walk on the treadmill tomorrow. Back to work on Tuesday! Never been so sick in my life!

Not happy with how this month started out! I have to lose at least 20 pounds by the beginning of August for our 3 week trip to NC and WDW. Supposed to be doing a fitness challenge in my town but haven't left the house except for the drs and CVS the past week.

Tomorrow is a fresh start! I'm just happy to be feeling better!

Time to put the kids to bed and maybe myself too!

TTFN :tigger:

Thanks for the good thoughts everyone.

Lisa--been thinking about you if you are reading along.

Tracey--nice to see you. Glad you are feeling better!

Dona--very exciting about your trip. Have you put your dates in on bing travel to see if they think fares will go up or down? They have a fare predictor that is useful. Also, I have heard Tuesday/Wednesday are the best days of the week to look for airfare. You are far enough out that with some flexibility, you should be able to get a decent fare. We have flown into Tampa before and rented a car and saved a ton. We have also flown down on one airline and back on another and saved.

I meal planned yesterday and logged everything into mfp. As always it was an eye opener, but I was under my calorie goal, so that's great!

I am going to walk this morning for 20 min or so, then go to the Y after work and do the elliptical and a piyo class.

Have a great Monday!

Rose sorry about your fur baby! :flower3:

Wow sounds like some great year end celebrations and everyone is home from their trips so let's go get 'em for the rest of the month!

Today we start a challenge at work - it's for 7 weeks and called In It to Lose It and we have a team of 5 people and get daily points for things like 30 mins of continous activity, no fried foods,no sweetened bevergaes, less 2 hrs of screen time - not including work - 5 servings of fruits and veggies and approved bonus activiy that will get sent out in an email.. everyone who loses 4% (6.5 for me) of their body weight will win a prize and the winning team with the most points at the end of the 7 weeks each get a fitbit..

last week my workout plan didn't quite work out like I expected.. however I have a plan again for this week.. I will walk 4 days and I am starting the 30 Day Ab challenge.. so wish me luck..

Morning all! Sorry I wasn't around much this weekend! Busy weekend with outside work and a wedding yesterday.

I'm around this morning, but don't really have time to chat. I have some plants I want to get in the ground this morning before we have rain today this afternoon and I have plans to go out to lunch, so I need to dash for now............P
