Winter Snow Storm

Just south of St. Louis we have all ice thus far. I'd much rather have the snow!! At one point we were under a blizzard warning in my area. Not sure if that is still accurate. Listening to the news know while reading the Dis.

It's days like these that I'm glad I'm a teacher in a district that cancels due to bad weather. My heart goes out to those of you who have to drive in this weather!! I'll probably be off all week if we get the 6-8 inches of snow predicted on top of the ice.

Just heard I-70 is closed between 20 miles west of St Louis and Kansas City. Everything in my area is closed: malls, theaters, businesses, schools, and just heard one of our major grocery chains is closing today. I guess the news was right when they said this is going to be worse then the blizzard of 1982.

Stay safe and warm everyone!!!!!

we're supposed to get 8 inches??? and another 2 sporadically on wednesday, at least that's what Fox 2 news tells us for Detroit (We just across the river in Ontario). Well no snow yet, no cancellations yet...but apparently this is the worst ever.

*sigh* last time this happened, and it was the "worst snow storm ever" we work up to 2 inches on top of the 4 that had been there for three weeks already :lmao:

Checking in from Southern NH.

We have about 10" on the ground now and another 8-14" forecast for tomorrow. DS' high school has already announced it will be closed tomorrow. The girls are waiting for their respective colleges to announce. Most likely they'll be closed. They closed this afternoon and all evening classes were cancelled.

I've had it. I'm ready to be a snow bird!

I have had enough of it. seriously I was shoveling the walkway and the only option to get rid of the snow is to toss it over the already 4 foot snowbanks. It is so bad driving anywhere you can never see out of driveways or parking lots too many mountains of snow.
My kids have had so much school missed I forget what it is like to bring them! each week is at least been 2 snow days. Last week they got out early Wed, no school Thursday, and a 2 hour late start Friday. Today no school as well I am sure for tom seeing we will get the bigger storm then that will bring at least a foot more. Today we got about 6 inches probally more since I was out.
It is so crazy even the kids do not want to go out in the snow, and they are hoping for school tomorrow! My littlest is 4 and he can not even play outside I may lose him
I am in CT close to the MA line

Us too. Our kids have used all their snow days already, last week was only 1.5 days in school. Just had another one today and good chance for tomorrow. This time its the ice, not snow. Only got about 3 inches this morning. Ice is on its way. They had to extend the marking period due to missed days. Today was suppose to be last day. Poor teachers. Think Spring

I'll believe it when I see it.
Thankfully, the Rochester, NY area has not been hit by any of the major storms this year. I am hoping this squeezes by just south of us.
Of course I am glad some of our activities are cancelled.... we have had our share of horribly low temps., and I am glad to stay inside tomorrow! :)

Sleet pelting our windows now. I will remember this sound, when I'm (hoepfully) sweating my rear end off at WDW this summer. I hate this winter. It's making me angry. Is that the cabin fever??

AHHHH. Where's global warming?

:laughing:thanks for the laugh.
That's why I never complain about the hot summer temps!! (w/AC of course):woohoo:

and I did sweat my rear off this past Aug and that was OK!

Here in Buffalo we are expecting about a 1 1/2 feet. Not too bad for us though. One time we had 6 feet in 2 days. That was bad. It is the ice that is bad and I think we won't get any of that.

I'm in Central Indiana and we got hit with ice last night and are bracing for round 2....bleck! Come on April 30th!!!!!

Well hello fellow Hoosier. we are indy southside.

we are planning on heading out the day after graduation and these school cancelations are getting me a bit worried that they may extend the school year:eek:

NE Indiana checking in.... Just started snowing awhile ago. Blizzard warning here. Sadly, I am thankful for that. It beats the ice storm/power outages that they are getting 80 miles south of here.

You are so right! I would much rather have the snow than ice. So far, I still have power...but I think I'm in the minority. Bloomington residents started having power outages last night...and it's worse out tonight. I'm worried about how many days our schools have to make up...so far, it's six days...and it's only February. I'm a teacher...and I feel like we'll be in school til July.

We're getting the brunt of it now!

Just snow blowed the driveway and the wind in bone chilling. Brrrrrrr. Several inches so far.

Have about a foot on the ground and it is finally tapering off. Kids have used up the snow days so they will have to start making them up. Luckily, we moved our WDW trip to the week after school gets out vs the day after school gets out. I am one that is hoping to sweat my tush off in June as there is to much there to begin with ;)

My wife and I are currently in Orlando finishing up our honeymoon. We were supposed to fly into Milwaukee then Green Bay today. Flights have been cancelled for both today and tomorrow. While it's nice to be in FL for the nice weather, on Saturday we fly back to Korea, and the storm took away two days for us to visit my family (went from 4 days to basically 1)...

Lotsa Hoosiers checking in here tonight :) - we are in Southeast IN (just across the border from Louisville) and we are only getting rain here (well, and wind). My son is in Bloomington and was happy to have class cancelled at IU this afternoon and campus is closed until 10 am tomorrow.

We moved here from central NY almost 2 years ago and I do not miss shoveling all that snow. The ice, however, is a different matter. When we get it, you can't drive anywhere! Stay safe, everyone.....

Just south of Milwaukee and in the middle of a blizzard. The weather just said we could see 20" :scared1: My kids' schools were canceled for tomorrow by noon today and DH found out this evening that he doesn't need to go into work tomorrow, either. Of course, my boss has not closed the business for tomorrow yet..... :sad2:

Good luck, everyone!!:grouphug:

Checking in here 20 miles west of Chicago.

The wind is so terrible! I work downtown and it took me THREE HOURS to drive
home.

Schools are closed and so is work and most businesses.

Can't complain too much though since this is our first really big snow storm in a long time (sorry East coast!)

Can't even see across the street at the moment! But I in take comfort in the fact that 45 days from now my family and I will be walking down Main Street USA. Can't you smell the Main Street Bakery?

Wish I had stock in snowblowers this winter.

I raise my hot chocolate to all who share the blizzard and the love of the Mouse.

Here at the Jersey Shore it's starting to ice over. We're supposed to get rain, and freezing rain, heavy at times tomorrow. Area schools already have at least a 90 minute delayed opening in the morning. I just hope we don't get too much rain too fast because my neck of the woods has about 2.5 feet of snow on the ground (since the 12/2610 blizzard), and if all this snow melts too fast we're gonna have serious floods. And we have another front moving in on Saturday as well as Monday...oh well, here I type, with Dole Whips on my mind...

We're in for it again tomorrow -- a major military base shut down for the second day in a row, schools closed, businesses dark, Stage 3 road emergencies announced -- it's getting serious.

Trees are shedding branches like leaves in the fall -- sounds like fireworks on New Year's Eve!

We're praying that everyone's power stays on, or it's gonna be a cold, cold night...
